Happy Halloween to YOU!

I've been baking all night long in my new apron.
What do you think of my bread bowls?
We're having Rachel Ray's TexMex chili tonight in them.

Little Spidey says "Have a Sweet & Sticky evening".

"HA! You wish you could make those," laughed my daughter.
I think I should be insulted, but obviously she knows me well. Baking bread is not my specialty. My husband just said, "I could make those." Okay, you're on.
How cool! Run to your local Great Harvest store for them.
They said they just added coloring to the dough.

"I want candy....I want candy." Harry & Shadowman are ready!

Happy Halloween!

Dinner Anyone?

What can we serve you in our new aprons? I need to get brownies out of the oven, just a minute...

These are two of the fabulous kits we received at the retreat. Leela came up with aprons for everyone out of their favorite fabrics. I think she was taking notes (or purchasing) when they went on their shop hop together.
She showed us how to hook the towel into the waistband -- so it's easy to wipe your hands when you're making "french toast with brie & caramel pecan syrup" (just one of the delicious meals we had. These women can cook.)

Do your oven mitts look like this? Mine don't, but they do NOW! Thanks Shelto. Shelly so nicely demonstrated how to make them by making mine. Since I can't wear ruffle pants

out of the Farmers Market fabric, I'll be happy with my hot mitt! We'll have a Shelly tutorial later. So easy, I made the Amy Butler one below. Shelly had lots of fabric kits made up for us to choose from.

Then I spent the rest of the time....churning & churning....my favorite block. I have a thing for churn dashes, not sure why. I wonder how many I made. (52)

These are out of Simplicity fabric -- someday I think they'll grow up to be a king size quilt or not. :-)

Cake Stands

Usually at our Retreats we do a block exchange.
We come home with enough blocks to make some kind of wonderful quilt.
This year we opted to do 'kits' for one another.
Rule was: Anything goes.
It did not have to be sewing related at all, hence the rule: anything goes.
I'll be posting about the different ones in the coming week.
I saw this darling idea on Betz White's Blog many moons ago.
I thought it would be such a quick, fun project.
Just perfect for a kit.
I've been hanging out at the local thrift stores scouring the Kitchen Section for plates, glasses and vases.
I was thrilled with my findings.
I tried an adhesive from Home Depot called
LOCTITE Houseware Repair, DishwasherSafe, Fast drying, 1 oz.
It sets up quickly and is washable.
Side Note: Acetone will take out any mishaps you might get on your L.L. Bean sweater.

I wish these all resided at my home but alas..............I am all about sharing and giving.
AND receiving. And boy did I receive.
Can't wait to show and tell some more!

And You Thought We Were Quilters

No, Silly.
We're RockStars!

Can't you tell by our album cover?
Some of us had an easier time channeling the Rockstar vibe than others.
Some thought it was humorous.

Some couldn't really understand 'the producers' vision but went along with it anyway. I bet they're slapping their foreheads now!
Some quickly tired of said producer and all her directions.

Some took their lives into their own hands by balancing on the balls of their feet at the risk of plumeting to a painful death below, while producer bossed them around and told them to 'look disgruntled'. Yeah, it wasn't an act.
Some tried to warn producer that others were in pain.
Producer didn't hear or perhaps ignored that counsel.
You be the judge.

Some were prone to curse.

Some were completely oblivious to the task at hand and loving every minute of it.

ALL were a joy and a delight to be with for 3 nights and 4 days.

Thank you so much my dear friends!!!!
I've got more...........so much more....................that's why we have several days in the week.

L to R sitting: Desi, Leela, Stitch, JimBob, Judy, Bets

Balancing by a thread in the back: Corrie Dawn, Shelto, Karebear AKA Johnny Cash

p.s. Some tend to exaggerate when posting :)

Blog SALE - Eat Up!

Just for you.....we're really missing ya..... Des is always suggesting (or should I say bugging me) that we do sales for you guys, so....

Friday & Saturday

+ shipping. I can fit up to 3 in a flat rate mailer for $5.40. (I have to gently unroll one of the jelly rolls. And bend the layer cakes, but they are so okay with that.) After 3 it would be the flat rate box for $9.80.
Email me...which one(s) you'd like. First come first served. Do not purchase them out of the store, email me. I'll try to unlist them as they get bought.
The price of both just went up, so I doubt I'll have them this low again.
Hope you're having a great weekend. Wish you were here :-) ~Corrie

SEW Many Projects.....

........SEW much time!!
Didn't think I was going to say that, did you??

I've got 4 projects I hope to complete at my retreat.
See that empty chair on the right?
That's where I'll be living.

I tend to do more talking than sewing.
More eating than cutting.

More laughing than pressing.

More lounging than creating.

I will.............

Project #1 ~ This quickie is for my dad for Christmas!

Project #2 ~ Can't forget my promise of 30 of these!

Project #3~ New Design in the making.

Project #4 ~ Quilts for Hair Cuts

I am Quilter....hear me roar!
Wish me luck! I'll need it.
