Molasses

My posse and I hopped.

We shopped.

Only a few photos made it to print. :)

Orange was in there air.

I've got a little something, something planned.

You'll probably see it in 2012.
It will be......orange.

Retreat is coming up this fall.
Spider Web Block exchange.

I'm thinking this red will be the "star" part.
Blue will be the first strip of the "hexagon".
Don't worry.

It will be fabulous.
You'll see it completed in 2016.

Unfortunately, (or fortunately) I didn't find any Japanese fabric until I was far over budget.
These pieces were just the tip of the iceberg of what I wanted.

Added to my collection of Minny Muu.
You will see that collection in a quilt sandwich of some kind
.....in 2020.

Ikea was the last stop.
The last drop of my money.
I bought wedding presents to last me through the summer.
Young love in Mormonville.
It's a beautiful thing, but it's EVERY weekend.
Had to grab a couple 'mini' bolts of this vibrant stuff!

I think it will make perfect quilts for kids!
I should have those done in 2009.
But I will manage somehow to push it in to 2010.

I just work that way.
Slow.
Like Molasses.

You will need to provide the batting and backing fabric (5 yards). We have lots of Figgy Pudding to choose from.

One of our readers, Alyson, wanted this kit for her retreat. I'm jealous, a quilt retreat right now would be so nice. Have a fun time this weekend!

Laura & Mary

Little House on Prairie moments at our house.
I've been drowning in calico.

The girls were at camp for a week, then Bella had a leadership conference and now a pioneer trek to Martin's Cove in Wyoming. They will pull handcarts as the pioneers did 150+ years ago.

I'm really glad they get to go. We've known this was coming for about a year, but it did kind of sneak up on us.

For extra projects in our 4H group, the girls made aprons and bonnets, but there were, skirts, buttonholes, snaps, bloomers & hems to finish up. And of course matching headbands. I'm sure that was a must for the pioneers.

They've been learning the Virginia Reel & other square dancing.

The 4H group also made drawstring totes. The pioneers called one of these a "possibilities bag". A little trickier than it looked, but they work!

There are 40 youth going; they are split into families that each have a ma & pa (and there is a doctor going. Lizzie has back issues, so we're hoping for the best.) Am I worried? Yeah.

At the last minute,

Bella decided to make bandannas for her family.

We've had lots of sewing going on.

They are ready to go.

Last night, they left in a big purple bus.

They drove all night & should start on a historical,

meaningful and humbling experience today.

Okay, I really miss them already.

Hopping

Shopping Hopping we call it here in the West.
I have no idea what you call it in the North, South or East.
But I'll be doing it all day Friday in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Hopping from quilt store to quilt store leaving behind my hard earned money, in the fine company of friends.

Good friends.

Friends who love you even when you drag them through IKEA for the fabric.

May I live long and prosper.

Just saw Star Trek.

p.s. We'll miss you KareBear.

She broke her foot so she didn't have to go to IKEA with me.

Who will do this?

Figgity Jig ~ Giveaway~ We have a Winner~

Update: Congratulations go to Liz B. #18.
May you find many hours of joy with these fabrics!
Thanks for dropping by everyone!

I'm still into rhyming.
Sorry.
It sounds like many of you are just SO not into thinking about Christmas yet. Well, that's tragic for you. It's coming whether you like it or not and I choose to LOVE it. I'm not ready to start listening to Bing Crosby yet, but thinking about my traditions and all the things I want to do and make and create (more rhyming) ......oh, I just feel I've got to get busy on it all any minute now!

These new fabrics, Figgy Pudding, from Basic Grey are perfect.
If you take a good look, and don't think about wishing anyone a Merry Christmas.....
why.......they're quite non-Christmas-y.

Brown, and bluesy.
Gorgeous Red.
Trees are for all seasons.
Rich, tonal damasks that need to be made into napkins for every occasion.
Okay, I'll give you the poinsettias, and maybe the presents, but that's it.
This line says, "Merry Christmas, Darling" but it also says....."Big Girls Don't Cry" because they have this fabric in their stash for everyday sewing.

We would never want YOU to cry because you don't have some of this in YOUR stash. So, we're giving away a lovely little non-holiday specific set of
4 Figgy Pudding fat quarters.
I know....we're only here to serve.

Leave a comment telling me what YOU think this line is saying....could be saying??....whispering??....shouting??......
implying??....suggesting??.....
requesting??....investing??......

Don't sprain your brain if it's just too much for a Thursday.

Random Drawing later tonight.
Best of luck to you!!

We have sets of 15, 11 and 4 Fat Quarters in the store.
Don't ask me where the 15 and 11 come from.
We just like those numbers. :)

We Won't Go Until We Get Some

Oh, Bring us some figgy pudding.... I should get my Christmas cds out, maybe even the tree. We've got a lot of Christmas ambiance right now; just making more room for the holiday fabrics.

Figgy Pudding by basicgrey from Moda Fabrics
Peppermints, presents and poinsettias

The new dessert roll from Moda.
Ten 5" by 44" strips of the tonals & neutrals from the line.

The dessert roll works well with the figgy pudding pre-cut charms, layer cakes, honey buns, jelly rolls, turnovers (I'm getting hungry) and much more.

I'm pretty sure the only figgy pudding (recipe)
that I'll be making is a quilt.
We will be kitting this quilt; just waiting for one of the fabrics.
If you're interested in a kit, email me & we'll get it going.

Have a Sheri Berry Holiday

....it's the best time of the year.... la la la, la la la...have a cup of cheer.

I know, it's June, but I've been looking at Christmas fabric since January. So glad it's here.

That Sheri Berry -- love her Halloween line, Trick or Treat Street, and she follows it up with this.

Ornaments, Bells, Snowmen, Santa and his Reindeer in aqua, green and pink!

We have fat quarters, charms & yardage in the store.
I was so unprepared for the holidays last year, I WILL do better this year!
Moda's Figgy Pudding is also here, just trying to get it listed!
Hope you're having a great weekend.
