What To Do....

It's binding time for my DQS7.
I'm beyond happy with how it all turned out seeing as how I just started cutting widths of strips and hoped that it would turn out an okay size.
It did!!
I even
had to make me one!

I'm looking for feedback on the following binding choices. I want a little something unexpected in the 'framing' of the quilt. Wanted to get away from the blue/green theme. Since I'm a sucker for orange, I had to try this out! My partner didn't say they hated orange, so I should be safe, right?

I do love a little black in all things. And add that polka dot......now I'm torn.

Or I could go a little safer with the bias stripe going around.

I love and adore this Amy Butler dot and want it in everything I do!!
Do I want it for binding??

So, if you have any opinions on what color binding I should use, please share. Although my husband would tell you that I never listen and that I already have my mind made up.
That could be true.
Maybe it's just a test.
Don't Fail Me Now!

Did You Stock Up?

I think I'm ready.
Many a vintage baby quilt to make.
I've given up pinning the squares on & have advanced to glue sticks.

Here's the latest kit -- Robots & Rockets

Get those school supplies while you can.
Stocked up on crayons too. Paid a $1.40 for a box this spring -- not doing that again. Crayon rolls to create. I think they'd make a good Halloween treat - tooth friendly. Out here, we only get 8 people, but I always have to buy a lot of candy, just in case.
Have a great weekend!

Santorini ~ Giveaway

Congrats to ChanFam6 #104! ! ! Let me know what you'd like.
Right now, I'm inspired by chocolate chip cookies.
Next week we're having a little bigger giveaway (at least that's the date for now, could change)!
A Greek Island called Santorini
That would be nice. It's a new fabric collection by Lila Tueller. I was reading that's she's never been there but was inspired by it. Lila says, "The colors are a mix of rich olive greens, warm pinks, deep purples, golden yellows and oranges, with cream and deep warm brown as the contrast." Great combination.
Guess, I was inspired by the pinks & Hello Kitty :-). They make me smile; the matching rick rack does too. And the little olives.

We have charm squares, layer cakes, jelly rolls, yardage and fat quarters on etsy & eBay.

Today's giveaway is for either of the fat quarter sets or a charm pack! Take your pick.
I pick this one.

Leave a comment below on where or what inspires you. I'm going to leave this giveaway open a little longer, since it got a late start this morning. Random drawing tomorrow morning.

Be A Happy Camper~Giveaway

Update: Harley Dee will be a happy camper!!
Congratulations! Show us what you do with it!!
See you all next Thursday!

I'm not a camper.
I'm not a "happy" camper.
I think camping is doing the same thing I do all day...
...only now I'm in the dirt and bugs are bugging me.
No thank you.
I think it's a lovely idea and sentiment
to become one with nature.
Listening, smelling and enjoying the great outdoors.
I'll watch the movie and smell the candles.
So this fabric is right up my alley.
I can enjoy the great outdoors without ever leaving my home.
I know, you wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts are just shaking your heads.
Well, shake away.
Now if we were talking the beach...
...it would be a whole different story!

Today we're giving away a charm pack from American Jane's newest line,
Happy Camper.
42 -- 5 inch squares from the whole line!

Yardage will be out in September but for now we have Charms, Turnovers, Jelly Rolls and Layer Cakes.
Help yourself!

Leave a comment about camping.....and Holiday Inn counts! :)
Random Drawing later tonight!
Some of you are so cute and you leave such lovely comments and then your number is drawn
and I have no way of finding you. :(
Just because you have a blogger ID, doesn't mean I can find your email.
Good Luck!

My New Friend

Sewing notions in mason jars -- it's a good thing.

...until I actually need that green thread at the bottom of the jar.

So I start to shake.

Still shaking...

I got the pink one out. Kind of a pain when I'm roaring to sew. The rim of the jar has a chip, so I try to watch that as I poke my fingers up there.

Eventually they all come out in a tangled thread mess & I've loved that until now.

Ahhhhhhh....organization at it's best.

My new friend, the Super Slim Satchel.

Yes, there are other containers that will hold a hundred spools. I'm not ready for that.

Then I would want the spools all the same size and hello?, more thread.

Better not go there. Let's go here. Everyone safe & sound.

Doll Quilt Swap 7

Mamma Mia!
Not the movie
I don't know what I've gotten myself into with this
Doll Quilt Swap but I'm scared, very scared.

I just keep putting it off and walking away from it.
Hard to cut into the fabrics and hope what I have planned works out.
I really don't want to do the math.
I just want to just start sewing.
Okay, here I go.
Goodbye.

Wonder of Wonder

I'm far ahead of my expectations.
Orange quilt was due to be thought of in 2012.
Done with the top.

Quilt and Bind is all that's left.
2009 could be my year.
Maybe.

Although, I'm worried about my Grandma.
She would not approve of this fabric in a traditional quilt.
I'm pretty sure she's rolling over in her grave.....

.....I hope she doesn't hurt herself.
