A Trip Worth Taking

A new twist on a Trip Around the World.

A quilt kit featuring Bubblegum Basics fabric and this new pattern by Yoyo Mama

is available on etsy and eBay. Limited number.

It's sweet, it's striking, it's fresh. Just a magic combination of colors. Love looking at it.

You make it similar to the Vintage Baby Quilt. The quilt is done in four easy sections.

The directions explain how to join the four sections together for an 84" by 84" quilt. Soft applique/rag edge quilt. When you are done sewing the squares on, the quilt is quilted. Just bind.

I'm always up for a trip. This is one I'll be taking again.

Fabulous Las Vegas

Oh...there's no place quite like it.

Had a super trip to Vegas for the textile show.

Met up with Marlene, aka Yoyo Mama. We had a ball.

Also hung out with Joyce and Evelyn from the Gathering Place. The Gathering Place is the largest quilt store in Idaho. Great place to shop. They were arriving just after their huge annual sale. Joyce showed us around Vegas. So glad I wasn't driving.

Saw the amazing water show at the Bellagio. Gorgeous weather.

Kept thinking, oh my kids would love this, but then there was some other stuff on the strip, that I thought, oh my...... I think not.

The textile show was so unlike Quilt Market. Quilt Market is enormous, crowded and so busy. This was a nice relaxing show. Calm. Quiet. Very enjoyable.

Here's a peek at a few fabrics that I remembered to take a picture of.

Ahhh....delicious

This will be great with the Man in the Kitchen apron pattern.

Red Riding Hood makes me happy.

There's a cute little soft book that goes with it. What would you make out of this?

A little American Vintage for you.

Timber by Jessica Levitt for Windham.

Some Sally Rose

This fabric reminds me of the Farm Chicks.

Gave this to my girlfriend today. Soon I can give her a matching apron.
Have you read their blog lately? Let's talk.

Lots of other fabric coming too...can't wait!

See you tomorrow for the giveaway.

Coming Home....Homecoming

Headed to Las Vegas on Monday. Been on the road for 4 hours and I get a phone call.
In the middle of Nevada, it's hard to have consistent cell coverage.

Bella was asked to the homecoming dance.

It's on Saturday....this Saturday.

I'm gone til Thursday night & she's gone Wednesday through Friday afternoon.

And of course, she can't just call him and say, "Yes." He asked by doing something with chocolate kisses. So she made him a giant Rice Crispy Kiss and put her answer in the middle.

I guess at school, kids were walking around with pieces of it & he finally had to get the kitchen lady to saw it open.

My poor husband had to go dress shopping, Rice Crispy shopping and handle everything else before she left on Wednesday. He did a great job. Sitting at the mall for an entire evening was not in his plans.

I think I spent the whole week on the phone with them. It was fun. Wish I would have been home.

Friday night, we got the dress hemmed. May I just say, I learned to do a rolled hem on my serger and change the thread color. I'm quite proud. Do you need any purple thread?

Well, they left tonight. What do we do now? Lizzie & I are just hanging out, not sure what to do.

Hope they have fun!

I'm trying to get my Vegas pictures uploaded, but they keep coming in sideways....where's my husband?? Help!

Panache ~ Giveaway Over

Update: Congrats to #35 grendelskin. Glad you'll be adding some Panache to your stash. Just back in town. It's going to be a busy day.
Panache

--noun. a grand or flamboyant manner; verve; style; flair

That describes it. Gorgeous rich blues, browns & pink from Sanae.
The three on the right are 100% cotton twills, perfect for tote bags and more.

Today's giveaway is a yard of Panache cotton or twill, OR a charm pack.

Leave a comment -- use Panache in a sentence or
as my son pronouces it, Pa-na-chee, rhymes with Wenatchee.

Random drawing Friday morning.

Big Plans

Des & I had BIG plans for September.

First, we were going to go to the Startup Princess event this past weekend and gush over the speaker, yeah, Heather Bailey.

We've fawned over her before -- pictures to prove it.
I was feeling the love for Heather, but kind of thought, we're not "starting up" anything, not sure that's the place for us.

So we nixed being princesses.

Well, at least we'll have Vegas, right?

Wrong.

Des got a job. Then she got another job. Two jobs.
I thought she worked for Quilt Taffy.
Guess she wants to be paid in cold hard cash instead of yardage.
No Vegas.
No Thelma & Louise.

Just Thelma.

I'm off to see Elvis and a thousand fabric samples at the textile show.

But I'll see her in two weeks at the Big Event. Des has lots of news to share.

Sweet 14

Happy Birthday Lizzie!
It's a cup'cake'.
"You're 14! Get out of his car!"
Playing 'football basketball'. They are shooting baskets from the car with a football. Quite entertaining.

Actually, I wish I fit, I would absolutely be driving it around.

In Idaho, kids can get their driving permits at 14 1/2. Ugh.

This is the only car she'll be driving for awhile.
