Serendipity

Bella did some sewing over the weekend. Whipped this out in no time. She made a mock one first and figured it out.
True confession: I've never put in a zipper before. Still haven't.
She just read the zipper directions and sewed it in. Who knew?

She made this little flower by gathering and winding it around.

It's the Monique Dress pattern by Serendipity Studio.
The fabric she used is Nicey Jane.

I'm glad the girls tackle sewing projects. Sometimes they don't happen at the most convenient times, but really when does the most convenient time ever come?

Traditional Procrastination

Here's a peek at a project that
I've known has been coming for years.
I didn't wait until the very last minute...
but I'm cutting it close.

It's my in-law's 50th anniversary this August.
~
This quilt top has been unpicked many times. At first, I just had the pink sashing, but the rows were not lining up as hard as I tried. So we (the girls) unpicked the sashing (I told them I'd put their names on the label if they unpicked it all). I added the white cornerposts and then they weren't exactly the right white, so did a little bit of more unpicking. But it's done. Everything lines up now.
~
The quilt is at the quilter's!
Check that off the list.
My mother in law is very traditional. I think she'll love it.
I should probably make my father in law his own quilt,
but that wasn't on the list :-).

I don't think any of my in-laws read the blog,

but in case you do know them,

shhhhhh.

From Chair to Eternity

I'm pretty sure I could sit my behind on this chair for eternity.
Or at least until I tire of this color combo.

She's even sitting with the big boys now.

You've come a long way baby.

Que the waves.

Material for seat: Anna Maria Horner's Drawing Room Home Dec Fabric, Nouveau Bouquet in Gold. Don't ask me why it's called gold, but it is. There is no gold in there. It's red, pink and creamy white.

Spray paint: Rust-Oleam American Accents Aqua

Old Bones

I love the old bones of a chair.
Oh, and the cute little scroll work design.

Love the green color as well,

but times are a changin' for these babies.

They'll be back shortly with a new attitude!

No Quilt Shop is an Island

Hop Shopping with my posse is always a treat.

We made up our own little shop hop this time.
Mostly it was created around Maddox.

I was craving their rolls with raspberry butter.
Divine.

We hit 3 fun quilt shops:
Sages Creek
Suppose
Village Dry Goods

I came home and realized that
I was in a very blue mood.
Literally.
I bought a lot of blue fabric.

In fact, I just painted my bathroom blue.
AND I'm working on some blue chairs.
Hmmm.....I smell a theme.

As I was taking the pictures
I decided to play a game.

Join me.
If you were stranded on a deserted island
and could only have THREE fabrics

Not 4, not 5.
Not Mr. Darcy.
Believe me, I wanted to cheat on my own game.
But I didn't.
I was strong.

What 3 would you take?

These are my picks from my shopping trip.
It was a VERY hard choice.
I really wanted the spoons and forks

but I was afraid that would make me hungry
on my deserted island.
And then I would start dreaming about
Maddox chicken.
And rolls.
And butter......

I've never actually licked fabric before.
But I would on a deserted island.
