A Ballerina for Christmas

It's a first.
First doll, I've made.
A friend, Deanne, was making a ballerina from Stitched in Time.
Uh hello! I want to make one too.
(and so did Nicol, but she cut out 8 of them...8!
Hey Nicol, how's it going?)
I made one for Des for Christmas.
Note: Didn't know we were showing presents on the blog before the big day (or I could have shown you this!) I was not expecting Des to give me a hexagon caddy.
Thank you! It's much appreciated!
I loved every step of making the doll until I got to the hair. I was really whining at Deanne. My yarn choice was thick & it took a lot of yanking & a latex glove to pull that hair through. There's some stuffing or is it grey hair peeking out?
Wanted her to look like the cover girl --
found a vintage pillowcase on eBay & it was almost identical!
I did the arms & legs a little different. I inserted them into the seams & seamed the bottom of the hands & feet. Seems a little more durable.
~
Well...I had to have one too.
More sewing & tugging.
But worth it!
Now the girls want one...
and Harry (my 4 year old). ?

Christmas Pillow

I've had this beautiful cross-stitch Santa for a couple of years.  My awesome Sis-in-law made it for me.
Finally, I figured out it's final resting place!
How perfect is this Persimmon Henna Garden fabric (the red) from Sandi Henderson.
Note to Corrie:
I need all the colors left of Henna Garden.
Thank you.
Love Des.
Being the wise, thrifty gal that I am *read lazy* I'm just using one of my sofa pillows and making this a removable cover for my regularly scheduled pillow.

My awesome Sis-in-law has my name again this year!!
Crossing fingers for more cross-stitch!!

Hand Sewing Project

Here is my newest "go-to" hand project.

Now I can sit and watch my favorite Christmas shows
AND be so productive!
I found it at Penny's.
Isn't she smart?!!
I'm loving it.
Since taking this picture I've made 2 more.
Love the pin cushion/caddy idea!

In case you need another "go-to" Christmas present for your favorite sewing enthusiast,
this is a keeper!

My Kind of Snowman

Everybody loves a snowman,
especially a sugar cookie one!

These are definitely family friendly,
everybody can help.
Fast.
Easy.

The kids made a bunch for them
and I made some for our Quilt Group Party.
They taste good too!
Chocolate chip eyes, mini chip mouth,
Lifesavers, licorice rope & a big gumdrop cut up for his nose.
Gummisavers would have worked well for his earmuffs too.

I'd like another one.
I'd like to make (and eat) cookies every day.
That's really the only thing that tempts me...cookie dough.

For more cookies,
visit Jodi's Christmas Cookie Exchange.

Happy Baking!

Creamcicle

Working on my latest do. Good Stitches block.
The assignment was to match the embroidered work to an assigned color.
My color was orange. You know I love orange!
However, it was to be 'creamcicle' orange.
Not a lot of 'creamcicle orange' in my mix.
Hope this will work.
I love all of the thought and effort that
went into these little embroideries.
Thanks Rachel.
oh, oh, Look at me!!
I have December's block done now, too!!
It's following Quilt Dad's tutorial.
I've made plenty of traditional log cabins in my life
but never a wonky one!
I like it!

Funky Doodle

I have been busy.
I don't just sit and watch Cable TV ALL day.
Just most of it.
In the book "One Yard Wonders"
there is a great idea to make mitered blocks out of striped fabric.
I had to try it and this is what I've come up with.
I decided to add a red cross of dots and then I think I'll put that other red dot fabric around as a scalloped border.
Yeah, it's still a work in progress.
But I'm thinking it would be fun for a funky mom and her baby.
Work with me people!
