A Royal Giveaway Over

Update: Congrats to Wendy #76!!
You're the winner tonight. Enjoy the festivities!
Loved Quiltjane's comment...#14
She used to write to Prince Edward.
... I should have thought of that.
I don't know where you'll be in the wee hours of Friday morn,
but we'll be here....
by our TV's....
with herbal tea.....
and crumpets.
I think I've watched every royal special to be found on cable TV. TLC is running like, back to back to back to back royal specials.
I've seen them all 3 times each.
Um, can someone tell me how Corrie got the tiara
and I got the floofy hat?
In 1981, I was up in the middle of the night to watch the wedding on a small black and white TV in my brother's basement.
I was 16.
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
I couldn't get enough of Lady Di.
*sigh*
I still have the engagement mug.
I'll save my obsessions for another post.

Today's giveaway is for a collection of red, blue and white fabrics in honor of the Brits!
Can you guess what we want to hear in the comments??
Oh yeah.
Did you get the Lady Di hair cut?
Do you think Prince Charles was a fool?
Would you like to make me a Union Jack quilt?
Would you marry a prince with a receding hairline?
Did you cry when Diana died?
Could you care less?
Tell me anything you want to in regards
to royalty.

Random Drawing later tonight.
Cheers!

The Shirt Off His Back

I'm ready for Wednesday!

It's Quilt Group

aka Material Girls.

We're still doing the

Pizza Box Exchange.

I got Diane's box.

She started off with the block on the right.

Made out of a shirt.

That block on the left is pretty cute with the pocket

in the middle & buttons.

No, I didn't make that one. :(

Here is her block collection so far...

Here's mine.

I'm liking this flying geese block.

It's from the ever so popular quilt book of long ago.

The book that taught me to piece.

It's a great resource.

The Rainbow....

....Somewhere over it.
My do.Good stitches block for the month of April.
The theme was rainbow.
Who knew it would be my biggest challenge yet?
I'm thinking that's a lot of worry over color.
I haven't done foundation piecing for 20 years!
The flying geese block is here.
The other block is just made up log cabin-ish.
I want to be hanging out with the
'happy little bluebirds' that are
flying over the rainbow.
Not worrying about Roy G. Biv.

Think Spring Giveaway Over

Update: Congrats to #149 Catskill Quilter!!

You're the winner!

Tulips are up!

Trees are blooming with pretty pink flowers.

And birds are singing. Use your imagination.

I'm not chasing down a bird for a picture...why?

Because it's freezing!

It's not feeling like Eastertime here.

So our giveaway today is for one of our
spring-ish charm packs!

To enter the drawing,
answer this question....
Do you sew seasonally?

ie. in spring, do you sew spring items
or are you already working on

Halloween and Christmas?

We're hoping for sun.
We better go in,

little Hoopla is getting cold
in the wind.

Random drawing later tonight.

When You Wish Upon a Lone Star

Sewing as fast as I can to get you some
good instructions on the Lone Star quilt.

I'm working on a name for our little sew-along.

While researching, I was blown away by all the famous people who have talked about Lone Stars through the years........

Lone Star, Lone Star
wherefore art thou Lone Star?
Shakespeare

You may say I'm a Lone Star,
but I'm not the only one.
John Lennon

Ask not what a Lone Star can do for you,
but what YOU can do for a Lone Star
JFK

Hitch your wagon to a Lone Star
Ralph Waldo Emerson

I haven't failed.
I've just found 1000 ways to make a Lone Star.
Thomas Edison

Star...Lone Star.
James Bond

Life is like a Lone Star.
You never know what you're going to get.
Forrest Gump

Frankly, my dear, I don't give a Lone Star
Rhett Butler

Beam me up, Lone Star.
Captain Kirk

Maybe I should get back to sewing.

Woot, Woot??

I'm not talking about owls.
Talking about Lone Stars.
But isn't she a pretty Lone Star.
In fact, I would dare say she's not even lonely.
She's measuring 58" square right now.
With a border on top and bottom she'll be perfect for Holiday snuggling.

Give me a Woot, Woot if you're interested in a Sew-Along.
I have no idea how to do one.
But we'll stumble along together.
I promise not to step on your toes.
It's quick and easy rotary cutting and strip sewing at it's finest.

I Do Giveaway Over

Update: Congrats to Sandie ~call me crazy #136!!

Rick kept chanting #83 to win, because she said he looked like McDreamy.

It was our 23rd anniversary - 1988.

The comments were great, I want to see your photos now!

Rick & I are celebrating

our anniversary today!

Memories....

the kids are saying -

I've never showed them our wedding album??

I loved my shoulder pads & permed hair.

Our wedding colors were

peachy pink & green.

~~

Well, I don't have much in the way of peachy pink fabric, so

our giveaway today, is a yard or 2 half yards

of most anything in the shop.

~

To enter the drawing, tell me your wedding colors or

something about an anniversary.

Random drawing tomorrow morning ;).

If anyone knows where to find the wedding cake topper at the top, please let me know.

This is A Layer Cake

I attempted the Layer Cake on Bakerella's blog. Got my pans at the $ store, probably only needed 5 pans; the pans cool quickly. She talked about using parchment paper, that's fine, but buttering & flouring the pans AND the parchment paper.

Isn't that what non-stick spray is for?

I'm lazy.

I'm trying the spray.

I also did half oil/half applesauce in the cake mix.

I used a cake mix, because again,

I'm lazy.

I would try a cake from scratch next time & no applesauce.

Just because it would probably be prettier.

I made Pioneer Woman's chocolate cake icing for the layers.

That's a favorite at our house.

It was an easy cake,

You can be messy & it still works.

Des (or anyone),

you're welcome to borrow my pans.

mmmm....I'm ready to make another one.

Le Petite ~ Brocante

This month's Le Petite pattern is Brocante.

A brand new Schnibbles pattern from Miss Rosie's Quilt Co.

"Quarter-triangle squares, a couple of flying geese and squares, that's all there is to it.

I had a lot of red so that's what sets the tone for my quilt, but any color scheme will work. The only requirement is a contrast between the medium/dark charm squares and the background." ~Carrie Nelson Carrie just came out with 6 spanking new Schnibbles and they are good ones. Brocante, Honeycomb, Recess, Roadshow RicRac & George, on etsy.

Brocante is available on etsy or eBay.
