It's a Hometown Giveaway! Over

Congrats to Lynn Koeppen #184!!

You're the winner tonight!

Great New line from Sweetwater

I heard they were asking for the names of YOUR hometown.

Sweetwater tried to get as many names as they could on the Town Square fabric...

haven't found mine yet.

Might need a magnifying glass.

Oh, I found it.

whew.

I knew Boise had to be there.

AND Idaho Falls.

I just saw Burley!! no way!

Okay, that is really our hometown.

I thought Burley was too little potatoes for them.

I know, I'm sure there are other Burleys in the world,

but I'm just sure

that one is Burley, Idaho.

It's a cool collection of dots, those fabulous word prints,

a little floral and great color.

The precuts & some yardage

are available on etsy.

Guilty~

I have been quilting for 20 years.
Yes, I started as a wee child.
Fabric color and designs have really exploded in the last 7-8 years.
I remember seeing my first
Amy Butler Gypsy Caravan line of fabric.
I thought I had died and gone straight to heaven.
From that point on, I just couldn't do the muted,
dark, tea-stained look any longer.
I needed bright, large, and in charge fabrics.
So what's a girl to do with all the excess yardage that has accumulated over the years?
Corrie was here this weekend and we cranked,
AKA accuquilted,
through a bunch of yardage.
I decided to just 'tumble' it all.
I'll make tumbler quilts for nephews and nieces.
The tumbler quilt goes together so fast!
I had yardage pieces that weren't big enough
for the 7" strips that I needed for the tumbler.
So I cut them into strips and then threw
the rest of the parts and pieces away.
But now the guilt is setting in.
I haven't been able to bring myself
to empty the garbage can.

There's a lot of fabric in there and
I have another garbage sack full.
Darn that guilt.

It's easy when they're not your scraps.
I was so bold as to tell Jenny to throw her scraps
away and get on with her life!
Rude!
Look at all the things she can do with those!
Then I made the mistake of re-visiting
Ms. Leaders and Enders and now
I really can't throw them away.
But I really, really, really want to.
I want to get on with my life.
But instead....
....I will grab a good movie
and start digging through the garbage.
There better not be any banana peels in there!

Post Edit:  Okay, I did it.  I watched both Mansfield Park and Becoming Jane.  Dug through the blasted bags and kept the most worthy of pieces.  Now they're going to sit and stare at me.  I should have just hauled it all out to the garbage!

Giveaway Day! Over

Update: Congrats to #103 Alexis!
You're the winner!!
It's the end

of the summer for us.

My daughter made it home &

heads to college

today,

and school starts next week.

Last night was sweet.

Just a simple night in the backyard

with some happy screaming.
Of course, at our house,

you can find a snow sled,

lying on the grass

to use as a shield.
The water balloons made me think

of this charm pack,

so that's our giveaway.
It's a collection of the cutest, happiest prints with a

Japanese-Hawaiian flavor.

There are mermaids, Happy Food people

including donuts,& ice cream, pineapples

& Miss Coconut drink

and so much more.

They make me smile.

It's our Rainbow Pack in 5" or 10" squares on etsy.

I have yardage of all of these & more, they just aren't on the site yet.

If you'd like any, contact me.

To enter the drawing for a 5" or 10" pack,

leave a comment about your

favorite summer memory.

Random drawing tonight.

Hey Des, How would a hexagon purse look out of these? :)

Restless

Do you ever wake up in the middle of the night
just waiting for it to be morning so you can go sew?
I'm too much of a chicken to tiptoe downstairs
to the basement and sew at 3am.
What if all the spiders and boogeymen
are down there partying?
Will I interrupt?
Will I look out of place in my underwear?
So I toss and turn in bed until sunlight peaks in the windows.

This purse has kept me feeling restless at night.
I love making quilts.
But I forget how satisfying a smaller project can be.
I started this purse project at Corrie's house.
Found a pattern.
It is Sherri's from the APQ August magazine.
LOVED it!
Then I found my Prince.
Can you please tell me what to do with the jelly roll
I can't get enough of this line!!
I love the blues and corals.
Is it indigo blue?  navy blue?  I'm really not up to speed on my color wheel.
Then I quickly, and I mean, QUICKLY
cut it out with the Accuquilt.
Lickity split, I'm in hexagon heaven.
I've done hexagons by hand for years.
Corrie twisted my arm convinced me to try sewing them.
Now, I'm hooked.
Put in a good audio book and I was good to go.
The thing I love most about this project
is that I can use a charm pack and see
all of the charms together in close proximity.
Now my life would be complete,
if only Corrie lived in close proximity to me.
*sigh*

Some Like It Hot

Just a little stitching.

I love a good portable hand project.

Wanted to make some hotpads for a friend.

Traced the images with a blue washable marker

off of this Suburbia fabric.

What do you like to use for tracing on fabric?

I put in a layer of warm & natural batting &

a layer of insulated batting.

Osnaburg is my favorite fabric for stitching.

I like how it looks,

it's more durable,

and it's especially good for kids,

because you can't see through it

(to see all the thread traveling that happens on the back.)

I hope these get used,

because I want to make more.
