In fact, I think I have two seam rippers. In my sewing kit I have needles, thread, scissors, a tape measure and pins. Although, I never seem to have enough pins.Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02513058046163094127noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6354778152505693948.post-34776531423695191932008-09-11T14:48:00.000-06:002008-09-11T14:48:00.000-06:00Just love the pincushion! It is full of old spaghetti jars with ribbons and buttons in them. A plastic case with thread. A travel sewing kit from a hotel is the only thing that has needles in it. My pins are kept in the same plastic container I bought them at WalMart a while back. So a pincushion, especially a cute one like that, would be a MAJOR upgrade.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6354778152505693948.post-75510132151718227612008-09-11T10:41:00.000-06:002008-09-11T10:41:00.000-06:00I own many seam rippers. One in my sewing machine caddy, one in my hand-sewing supply bag, one for traveling (no laughing.....), and a couple of others that I've picked up along the way. I'm sure you can imagine that I am always astounded when someone at a sewing class or a quilt class asks to borrow a seam ripper. What? But then again, I am the gal who always carries a tape measure in her purse. I still use the same blue plastic sewing box I've had since a teenager. My collection spans over many years of scissors, pins, threads, darning egg, tracing wheel, thimbles etc. My most cherished item is the darning egg which I remember my mother using to darn my fathers socks. Her beautiful nimble fingers moving effortlessly and lovingly fixing those holes in the socks. There is a comfort in sewing along with a feeling of accomlishment that is timeless. My sewing basket has been attacked by my pet badgers....errrr I mean KIDDOS. They have snipped it with my stolen scissors, pushed needles ALL the way into it, and made bird's nest out of thread. It looks rough but there is a seam ripper somewhere in there of which I live in fear that the 3 year old will poke his sister's eyes out with. Love your blog and sense of humor!
