Give it a twirl

I've redeemed myself. She's only been asking to make a skirt for a year now. She chose a yellow floral from the Pumpkins Gone Wild line and made it in less than an hour. This is the adorable Circle Skirt from the Little Hip Skirts pattern (there's also one for mom called Hip Skirts). She made her's longer than the pattern called for. The pattern includes four different skirts, but we've only tried this one. Why mess with a good thing? It's easy with great directions. It has a bias waistband and a full skirt. I traced the pattern out last year on plastic, so it was ready to go -- my younger daughter made this skirt for the fair.

We should have done it sooner! I'm sure we'll be making more. ~Corrie

  1. HOW CUTE!! Okay, if she can do that I should be able to...RIGHT?? Or I could just send the fabric to her. :D I even HAVE the pattern! My dd has been wanting a skirt. What other excuses should I be able to come up with??

  2. What a great skirt! I made a skirt for my daughter for Christmas -- turned out darling, but I had to make 3 attempts to put the zipper in and it still wasn't quite right. Must conquer my fear of zipper insertion! :)

  3. Hermy!! That's gorgeous! I got to see it on hanger but it's MUCH cuter on. No zippers, Bets. Too cute and too fast! Love the little blurry vision thing you have going on in the first picture!! xxoo

  4. This is the exact reason why I am sad I only have sons, grandsons and nephews. No girls here except me, and I don't think I would look as cute as she does.

  5. My girls need new skirts. I wish the 2 youngest would like sewing and make their own! A lady in my ward today "scolded" them for not making anything to put on our blog. They were unimpressed. Unfortunately. They would rather play basketball. Darnit.

  6. Wow, that's great! I love the color too...

It reminds me of when I was a little girl and I'd wear my mom's old dresses (from the 70's I'm sure) and I'd twirl around trying to get the skirt as high as possible.
