I needed a good excuse to use some of these Denyse Schmidt Home Dec fabrics. Enter--long overdue thank-you/Birthday present to a dear friend.
I truly cut it out and pieced it in an afternoon. I sprinkled in a few pieces of cream chenille for some extra texture. It's a great size: 56" x 68". The home dec fabric makes it a perfect weight for outdoor ball games. And Vic and I have our fair share of those!
I try to put minkee on the back of everything because.............well BECAUSE. Do I need an excuse? It's just heavenly, angelic, can't -live-without -it-soft.
Topped it all off with a label. Am I getting good at this labeling thing or what??!! I haven't labeled in years and now I'm a maniac!
Check with Corrie if you'd like a kit!

  3. I know it's cliche to say I love it everytime you post a new quilt, but I'm serious! Where do you come up with such beautiful quilts? I don't think there's one that I've seen that I haven't been in love with. You're choice of patterns and fabric is awesome Des! Oh, btw, I love it. The colors are great! I'm so jealous! :)

  7. Love that fabric! I agree, it’s hard not to love everything you and Corrie make (Corrie’s kids too - awesome fair entries BTW!). I have been thinking about putting minkee fabric on the back of my stash quilt (it’s a baby blanket), but I wasn’t sure how easy it would be to quilt with. Does it work pretty well? Yours looks beautiful, I like the quilting pattern!

  8. Hey Natalie: Minkee absolutely should be on the back of your baby quilt!! I've never hand quilted through it. It is polyester and it might be tricky with little hand quilting needles. If you're quilting it yourself on a domestic sewing machine, just be aware that it is slick. I think it would be difficult, if you haven't machine quilted much. I do all of mine on a long-arm quilting machine and I don't have any problems at all. It quilts like butter. BUTTER!
