Frenchy Bag Giveaway!!Winner's Chosen

Update: Only Messy Karen will appreciate this but
I'm SO NOT KIDDING. Random Drawing #29. That was you. I gasped when it landed on you. Then I had to consider repicking because you would totally think I did it on purpose.
I didn't. It's just good karma. Wow. You are the ultimate Super Trooper.
Thanks everyone. That was so funny to read!
We love Taffy Talk Thursdays, do you?

Did you even know there was a name for these weekly giveaways??

Sometimes I forget, do you??

Today I'm so super duper excited.

Do I sound 12? I feel 12.

Do you like lots of questions this early in the morning? I do.

During the Christmas break, Corrie had a bee in her bonnett that she wanted to make Amy Butler's Frenchy Bag. Well, since I am the expert in the family when it comes to patterns and sewing, she looked to me to lead the way. I did, after all, make her several shirts and dresses in middle school. They were even good enough for school pictures. I know. I'm good. Real good. Wish I had her yearbook to show you the lovely fashions.

She had done all the hard, obnoxious work....like cutting out the pattern pieces. I just had to read the directions and figure it out. But I'm such a super trooper, like Abba, that I jumped at the chance to figure it out. Corrie chose County Fair Home Dec fabric which I heartily agreed to because we didn't need interfacing!!! But even with interfacing............pretty easy.
HOW CUTE IS THIS???
It has deep pockets inside. Choose between long handles or short. I prefer long to give me that swingy-Charlie girl stride.
Easy. Well written directions. This was so much fun to make. We started dreaming about all the people we wanted to make them for. It would be the most stylish diaper bag. I'm thinking one for my daughter's piano books, one for me for my knitting/crocheting and another one for me for my purse on Tuesdays and then another one for me to take to church. Oh, then all of those other ones I was going to make for everyone else.
Check out the kits in the store. All the thinking has been done for you!

So if you want to be a Super Trooper and try one of these bags for yourself, you're in luck! The Frenchy Bee Pattern is up for giveaway today.
You must be living right.
I know I am.

Leave us a comment about..............being a super trooper?
Will that be too hard for you CJ?
Can you handle it?
I think you can. I know I can.
And if I can, anyone can.
What does being a super trooper mean?
I don't know. You tell me.

Random Drawing later tonight. Good Luck and Good Trooping.

I don't think I have EVER heard that song before. I don't care if I ever hear it again actually. I have NO IDEA what they are talking about either. Does ABBA know what a super trooper is??? :S
Love your purse. I agree it is a great pattern and the directions are clear. Don't put me in the drawing though. I have the pattern already.

  4. Aloha! Super trooper?! Yup! That's me! Ha! I'm not sure what it is, but I think it would be a steadfast person who weathers all storms of difficulties & THAT SURE IS ME! Thanks!

  5. Super trooper? Funny old song. The only song I know with Glasgow in the lyrics. Mind you it's a hip and happening city these days, but not in the '70s when this song was written. Isn't it also the name of a sci fi film? xxx

  6. Des I love that bag, actually made my own with my mom over labor day last year, it is very easy to follow and one of the first projects I did when I was getting back into sewing so definetly something any beginner can do with patience! What a great thing to giveaway...I will refrain from entering as I already have the pattern, but had to share how much I love it as well!

  9. Cute bag. Perhaps being a super trooper means teaching your kids to sew! Thanks for the chance.

  10. This is such a cute bag. I am not really sure if you are meaning the mounds of to-dos as a super trooper , but I have lots of roles.

  11. Great bag, please enter my name. I would love to try to be a super trooper (and yes, I am old enough to remember ABBA) and to an easrlier comment, maybe you are thinking Starship Troopers?

  13. OK to me a super trooper is someone who keeps hanging in there no matter what - goes with the flow, doesn't give up - you might say, "what a trooper!", so a SUPER trooper is someone really extra special:) Maybe it's not an American saying?? I grew up in NZ and we used to say it all the time!

Anyway, LOVE the bag! I am dotty for dots - and yes, it would be the perfect church bag!!!

  14. I'm going to be spending the next two weeks nursing my hubby after he has some minor surgery tomorrow...I think that will probably make me a super trooper too.

  17. Cute bags are so fun! I would love to give this one a try.
I think being a super trooper means that you spend all day Saturday helping your husband re-tile his office bathroom, even though you were hoping to get some quality sewing and reading time in. And then after that when you're real tired and wanting to fall asleep, letting him take you out to a nice dinner. Or maybe that's just me.

  18. Easy. A super trooper is just a wife and mom. Any questions?

  23. I am a super trooper because my baby woke me up at five this morning, two hours earlier than usual, and I haven't lost my mind...yet. Although in the song, it would seem like the super troopers are bad guys who are going to find me, but I won't feel blue, like I always do, 'cause somewhere in the crowd there's yoooooou. :)

  24. I believe this bag will help carry all of our SUPER TROOPER Stuff

  28. I would love to win this pattern to make with (for) my 17 yo daughter. And, I think anyone who can survive raising a teenage girl has to be Super Trooper. But, of course, I grew up with ABBA, too.

  36. being a super trooper means getting up at 5:am to go sit in a hockey rink and watch my 14yo play and practice when the temperature inside the place is -10 degrees five mornings in a row. And not killing his father for scheduling this. Love the bag - wait do hockey skates fit in it. Just wondering

  37. This is such a cool bag! Perfect for the mom who carries everything for everyone because she lives with all boys and a pug and can't convince them that she is not their personal sherpa for every journey we ever take.
Super Trooper - a woman who tries to embrace her multifaceted life with creativity, humor and diet coke!

  40. Being a super trooper is jumping in with both feet, not caring if they get wet, dirty, or stuck. You know there is excitement out there and so you just do it!!

Most people on these blogs are super troopers, trying new patterns, trying out a new blog, messing up but keep ripping out those seams and forgeing ahead. So my hat goes off to all you super troopers.

I have some gals coming over next week to learn how to make totes, that would be an awesome bag to teach another time. These are new sewers.

  41. I am definitely a super trooper. With my husband I am renovating a house on the island of crete. you have to be something special to keep going as the work can be very hard. Do you think that I am a SUPER TROOPER? Hope so. Think the bag is lovely

  42. I think of my mom when I hear 'super trooper.' She is a mom of 8 (wonderful!) kids. She definately had her moments, but in general was a very happy person to be around. She kept going even when the going was tough.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Super Trooper just reminds me of the movie... which all men of a certain age range (and probably outside that age range) seem to love and adore...

But I would love the chance to try my hand @ an AB bag pattern - that's on my list to conquer (eventually).

  44. Wow very very cute bag for dear Corrie! Being a super trooper is smiling having fun and feeling like a number one AND entering your giveaways every Thursday!, but you guys are getting too well known and these are getting too competitive!(p.s. 45. I am a definate Sooper Trooper as explained in my blog post from yesterday - Check it out! I totally deserve this pattern. I have been wanting it for sooooo long!

  46. My super-trooper would have to be my 5-year old that just went through a tonsilectemy, a major throat infection, and then being left at grandparents for 10 days with their (outside) dogs which she is terrified of. But all with a smile on her face.

  47. NICE bag! What super trooper can have enough cute bags? I think we all must be super troopers at some point. Lifes crazy demands and schedules these days make this necessary to get through from time to time.

  48. I have a college daughter in a dorm room away from home. "Mom-- send me mail..." so I'm always sewing pencil cases, journal covers, wallets. This would be fun count me in. Super trooper -- could it be Moms everywhere?!?!?!

  50. Clearly, I am missing out because I don't know what a super trooper is. I get the impression from the other comments that it belongs to a movie that I haven't watched. :)

  51. Cute bag! Love It! Don't know what a super trooper is....I am thinking that a super trooper must keep trooping no matter what....I am pretty sure that's the definition of super woman! Keeps going no matter what with as much of a smile as she can muster up even on the yuckiest of day!

  52. Well, I have a story for you! my daughter Rayna was born unexpectedly at home. She was two weeks early, and her labour was very fast, she was born in twenty minutes flat, the paramedics made it in time for the last push, and my husband pretty much delivered her. I had no drugs, no nurses, no doctor! We're all fine though, so I think that makes me a super trooper. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I absolutely love that bag! I'm a super trooper - I had three kind under the age of two. Does that count?

    ReplyDelete
  54. What a cute bag! Count me in, please.
I think a Super Trooper is someone who stays the course, whatever it may be, through thick and thin.
    Compliments of Wikipedia --
The name "Super Trouper" refers to the gigantic spotlights used in stadium concerts and such. It is widely known that ABBA were not always fond of performing onstage, preferring the confines of the studio to being on tour.

  55. I changed 2 #2s yesterday at the same time. Does that make me a super trooper?
This is the cutest purse patter ever. I LOVE the reds too. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  56. Super Trooper???? Could it be a stay at home mommy with 4 children aged 14, 12, 27 months, and 20 months who has a small sewing business AND homeschools?? Either that or I'm nuts.... I prefer to think Super Trooper instead of insane....

  57. Cool! I want to make one for everyone. Super Trooper...lights are gonna find me. Let me put on my silver boots & wade through the snow.

  58. Hmmmm, must go watch Mamma Mia tonight. Super Trooper...I thought you'd go with a French twist, perhaps a question...but then that brings us back to Voulez Vous (an ABBA song).

  60. I love any Amy Butler bag! I'd say a "super trooper" is one who finally finishes husbands "college" quilt after 10 years. (Has it really been that long?)

  62. Im not sure what a super trooper is, but Ill be one if it will win me that bag pattern. Beautiful!

  63. Love that fabric combo. I didn't know you don't have to use interfacing if you use home dec weight fabric - good to know. Anyways, I'm pretty bad at being a super trooper (which, in my mind, is someone who is positive no matter what). It's one of my major downfalls that I'm definitely working on. I'd also really enjoy working on that bag (hehe)!

  64. The bag in the DS fabs is fabulous of course! Very groovy..... Which leads me to my idea of what a Super Trooper is. A groovy, hip, happenin' chick with an awesome bag on her arm, listening to that groovy sound of Abba.

I love Abba--can't help it I just do. I know most of the words to my favorites by them, though Super Trooper is not one of my favs. It is my sister's fav though. Anyway....
If you are in Canada and are a 'Mountie' who is also great at his/her job, does that make you a Super Trooper too? Maybe! Obviously this was a good question in my world-very silly!

  65. That is one super duper bag. I am not real sure what a super trooper is but let's just say it is person who will do anything and everything. Is that good?

  66. Being a super trooper is hard to do
You've got to have guts and perserverance too!

It means to keep going when you sure want to quit
And remaining real calm when you just want a fit.

Super troopers smile, when others would not
They give of themselves...they give A LOT!

They write up cool blogs and do give aways too
It's obviuos to me, the Super trooper...is YOU!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Not sure about the super trooper is, but I sure would feel like one carrying that bag! As part of my new year's resolutions I joined one of those early morning exercise boot camps where they make you do a bajillion push ups and run/drag you around a track. I know getting to carry that cute bag to that early morning class would sure make it feel easier. :) Happy 2009!!

  70. I remember the ole song. But I don't think I consider myself a super trooper, but my family does. We've undergone some terrible circumstances with family members and thus far I've been able to be where I need to be, have an ear ready to listen, and there to cry with. God has his own ways, and his are not always ours. I think I'm like the Eveready Battery, I just keep going and going and going. Rae Ann
