Opposition in All Things

So as not to lead you astray with Spinach Smoothies..........we must have equal billing for actual GOOD food. Kidding. The spinach smoothie was actually quite tasty.
It's going to become part of my life any minute now.

Here is a treat that has been in our family since the 70's.

My mom had one of those plastic yellow Betty Crocker Boxes.

Oh Google, you never cease to amaze me.

I found a picture!

In the cookie section was the following recipe.
I'm sure they were called something like, Coconut Bars.
Well that didn't sound very exciting so I dubbed them Coco Mocos.
And Coco Mocos they've stayed.
This is my standby treat for potluck. I can make it with my eyes closed and my mouth wide open. I've tweaked the measurements. In fact, I don't even know where the recipe is anymore.

oops. I just realized that I did throw on more chocolate chips after it came out of the oven.
Looks prettier. Just a helpful hint.

If you eat too many,

You'll need a Spinach Smoothie.

  1. This is just like our magic slice but with a bicuit base and all the ingredients sprinkled over the top then condensed milk poured over the lot. Very nice too.

  4. Yum-ola! I can almost feel my thighs expanding. Those yummies remind me of something my mom used to make called Magic Cookie Bars (I think). Seems like they had graham cracker crumbs, nuts, coconut, chocolate chips, and sweetened condensed milk. I thought they were some kind of delicacy when I was a kid. Heck, I'd probably still think that if only someone would make me some. Chocolate=Happy. Dark Chocolate=Happier. Both=fattier.

  5. Oh My Word. My family would never know if I made those because none would be left at the end of the day!! I have to stick to the spinach smoothies for a while. :-(

  6. I HAD that box! Bought it for myself!! Mine was almond though. I still have a few cards that were in it - Waikiki Meatballs!! I don't remember these bars though. Love what you named them. I say eat a few of these after you have a Spinach Smoothie - to cleanse the palate ya know. ;)

  7. Those look decadent!

I'd have to change the name though, since "Mocos" is what the house calls boogers - which would be cause for confusion. :)

  8. These are my most favorite too. I think I have the original recipe card somewhere, but I'm not looking. I did finally part with Mom's yellow plastic box. I can't keep everything, but I try. :-)
