  1. I had a stuffed dog. His name was 'Bluey and Whitey'. Can you guess what color he was?? I wonder what happened to him. My daughter (20)still has the teddy bear she was given on the day of her birth. She takes it with her when she travels - to school, home, vacation, Katie Bear is always there. I hope she doesn't have to wonder one day where that bear is.

  2. I used to have a bunny rabbit that the doctor gave my mom for me the day I was born. When I had my daughter my mom gave me the bunny (she put it up when I got older) to give my daughter on her first birthday last year. She has loved it ever since...

  3. Oh Corrie, I do have a little girl! And next week she's getting her first big-girl bed. I think she needs some Fig Tree love...

Right now (yes, I said now)my favorite is a Hello Kitty that's on our bed. She's like a red-riding kitty. So cute!

  4. I have a big floppy stuffed Elephant by Manhattan Toy I call my Olephaunt. I sleep with it every night - yes I do! I bought him for my daughter over a year ago, but she didn't like him - but I fell in love! I think my husband is jealous!

  5. My favorite stuffed animal is a rabbit that we have since our son was a baby. His name is Carrot.

  6. My favourite stuff toy is a little 15cm high pink elephant that my Dad gave me when I was born. My boyfriend's Mum then made me a proper pink elephant "bear" that look exactly the same and they sit together on my bedside table.

  7. My favorite stuffed animal was one that my mother gave me after an ex-boyfriend dumped me. It hung out on my bed for a bit and then it disappeared. Turned out that my best friend's poodle Henry had discovered it, and befriended it, and was keeping it in his bed. We nicknamed it KristenBear (my name + bear), and KristenBear brought Henry the same comfort it brought me. The original KristenBear was patched and re-sewn and finally had to be retired, but new KristenBears have followed, including some handmade by yours truly. ;)

  16. I have a simple brown bear that I love. He was a Christmas present one year, I think. I held onto that bear during Hurricane Andrew in 1992. Just a little comfort on a scary, scary night hiding out. Thanks for yet another great giveaway!

  17. I can't really remember a favorite, but I'm really liking the cute fish on the cover of the pattern. Is his name Stanley? Please enter me in your giveaway!

  18. Well, I have a teddy bear that I just loved to death. Still have it, in fact. My favorite would be my daughter's little stuffed cat called Pinky, whenever I see it I recall many fond memories of her childhood. I thought for sure she'd take it off to college with her, but no. It is in really bad shape and she was afraid something would happen to it. Don't tell anyone, but when she comes home she still sleeps with it!

  19. My favourite stuffed animal would be my bear that I oh-so-creatively named Charity Bear. Every year The Bay (a giant company here in Canada) sells a bear around Christmas and the proceeds go to charity; I've had my bear for about 22 years (I think) and love him a lot.

My Mum still buys me a new charity bear every year for Christmas which I then donate to the Salvation Army's Toy Mountain to keep the giving going, but I'll never get rid of that first one!

And I love Fig Tree so I would definitely love to win this giveaway!

I also got tonsilitis that year and I was sooooo sick and every time I looked at that bunny I felt sicker. I told my Mom The bunny was making me throw up! I don't know if I ever came to love that bunny or not. We have pictures of me holding him and looking sicker than a dog!

My favorite stuffed animal is a frog. I have always had a "thing" for frogs and have made a ton of them for gifts, but my favorite is a gift that I received from my sister. It is call Mr. Bumps and he is made from leather. It was a creation of Charleen Kinser and is a real piece of art.

I love that fish pattern. I may have to do a few of those.

P.S. my youngest will be 21 in July.

  36. I had a stuffed koala bear that my father brought back from Australia for me when he went to coach the women's Olympic track team. I loved all the fur off him. His name was wish. The children's book of the year in Australia in 1952 was Wish and the Magic Nut. I found the book a few years ago and enjoy reading it every once in a while.

  38. I was four years old and had to go into hospital alone to have my tonsils out. In those days parents weren't allowed to stay and nurses starched, grim and severe. No nonsense (like crying or missing your mum) was allowed. I had a horrible time but luckily afterwards my parents took me to the toyshop where I could choose something for being so brave... They were steering me in the direction of huge puzzles or big dolls. I wanted a tiny little teddy, who was sitting on the shelf looking at me with a sad face... I thought he understood how I felt and I could not leave him in the shop... he needed looking after... Brownie came home with me and was treasured for ever after. 48 years later, recovering from another operation (appendix this time), he is still sitting on my bedside table with knowing eyes... He knows how I feel!!

  39. I had eye surgery at a young age and the hospital gave me a big bear that I named Peanut Butter. I loved him so much.

  40. My favorite stuffed animal is a little bear named Coconut--she went to school with me every day in elementary school and would sit on my desk propped up by my crayon box. She's a very well-educated little bear! Decades later, old elementary school classmates will still ask me about Coconut :)

  41. My fav is a stuffed teddy bear that is ancient! I got him when I was about 4 so that means he's past the half century marker. Jeez...how did that happen? He is about 10" tall. brown and stuffed with some kind of straw type stuff. He has a hole in his tired old body so you can see the stuffing. He is up on a shelf so my grandchildren won't play with him. He couldn't take the attention.

  42. I didn't have any stuffed animals that were special to me. My kids do though. My son still has a bear he was given at his birth. It doesn't even have a name but he still sleeps with it (he's 9)

I had a little orange dog that was my favorite buddy as a little girl...when my mom and dad were packing to head to the hospital to have my little brother (I was 5) I put my dog in my mom's suitcase, to their surprise when they unpacked after getting to the hospital....they put it on one of the monitors and was there to great my little brother into this world 32 years ago.

  45. Mine was a Teddy Bear....not that unusual BUT it was THE TB that my Mom was giving to our newborn cousin. Now I was a bit OLD to be wanting a bear, but I REALLY REALLY wanted that bear. My sweet Mom knew, and got me one too. It is old and threadbare, but I love this bear and the memory of my understanding Mom whenever I see it. BTW....LOVE Figtree, so I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!

  46. I wasn't into stuffed animals as a child EXCEPT for one Christmas when I spotted a basket of white furry kittens in the Sears Christmas catalog. I wanted those kittens in the worse way. I begged and pleaded and left hints at every turn. Sadly Santa must have run out before he got to my house. I still remember them, although I never owned them...

  60. I had a pink bear named Pinky that my grandmother gave me when I was born. He was my favorite and went everywhere with me until one fateful trip to visit my grandmother. He was lost in the shuffle of the 8 hr car ride. My mom says I cried for him for weeks. And I never had another favorite bear.

  61. I love stuffed animals...I can't even buy them anymore because my husband has forbidden me to. If I could still have a pet net in my master bedroom I would. When I was a little girl I would put all my animals all over my queen sized bed and I could barely see the bed. And NO I don't have a little girl, but I've told all my boys they each owe me one granddaughter! I may have to start planning...

  63. Hmmmm...yummy giveaway! Anything Fig Tree is just irresistible ;o).
My favourite stuffed animal was my little "wauwau" ~ a soft sand coloured dog who followed me everywhere. Luckily (for my parent's sanity) the one who gave it to me as a birth present, was so clever to give 2 identical doggies...well, I definitely KNEW the difference between those two: #1, best-loved wauwau had bigger eyes and a hole in its tummy for little fingers to explore the stuffing...and everytime my mom closed it I re-opened. It just needed to be there...
As for favourite softies I surely want to make some time: the Phoebe elephant by Melly & me!!
    Cheers, Julia

  68. When I was very young, I had a stuffed animal that had a windup thingy on the back and played a lullabye. The stuffed "animal" was a dog...'s head. Just a head. When I was helping my mom clean out her upstairs recently, we found it and I asked, "How on earth was this not terrifying? It's just a head!" But it was my absolute favorite.

  69. my favorite stuffed animal is a pig that I got my first year in college. When I had to have emergency surgery (don't ask) I made my roommate go back and get my pig from my bed!! Even though it is missing an ear and it's fur is looking drab, it still sits on my bed. Myirishbaby neillna@nwol.net

  70. My favorite stuffed toy was a Large Teddy bear rescued from a dumpster by my mother when I was a child. She washed it up nicely and it was adorable. She even made it some clothes. It had a plastic face that was sort of sad with closed eyes. How I loved that bear and it was on my bed until I left home. My nieces and nephews enjoyed playing with that bear as well. Sadly I'm not sure what happened to the old bear but I have fond memories of it. Thanks for the chance to win an awesome pattern.

  71. My fave's a teddy bear, he used to sing, I broke it, lol. Although he was a "male", I used to dress him with dresses, lol, he came to my life when I was about 5 years old, it was a "little" while ago, LOL, and my pal's still with me, the bad thing he lost his nose, I need to fix it, and he's still wearing dresses, LOL!

  75. I got a big white stuffed rabbit from my best friend when we were in grade two or three. I LOVED it - it was the only thing that comforted me when I was sick. In high school we didn't have the same group of friends and then I moved 12 hours away. Now we live within 5 minutes of each other again, see each other every week and have kids the same age that play together. And the stuffed rabbit still gets played with by my girls.

  76. Corrie!!! I LOVE the little jumper dress...it's perfect for my little girls! Have to think about that one...
My favorite stuffed animal ~ I had a little frog, makes me wonder where it is at now. My grandmother made it for me, it was the heaviest thing ever, I loved to just plop it right on my chest to sleep at night ~ for some crazy reason, it made me feel kinda safe. The last I remember of him, he had only one eye left and his stuffing was pouring out a rather large hole in his side, but I still loved him! Thanks for bringing back that memory!

  78. My favorite stuffed animal is the first one I ever made - a 15" tall camel I sewed for my husband because he said he had one when he was a little boy. It's my favorite because even though it's far from perfect (really far), he displays it proudly in his den for everyone to see. Now that's a supportive fan!

  79. We raise cocker spaniels (duh..cockermom) and my husband and I each have our own babies. My husband was recently diagnosed with renal failure. Every time he has to spend time in hospital, he always says how he misses Bindi (our little girl cocker). Finally, I found a little stuffed black and white cocker just like her and now it travels in suitcase so it is ready whenever needed! Silly man, really loves having that stuffy with him and tells all the nurses about his little Bindi dog.

  82. I loved my teddy bear so much that one of my birthday parties was teddy bear themed. Everyone was supposed to bring their teddy bears to the party. At the party we all sat in a big circle with our teddy bears and everyone was supposed to tell the name of their teddy bear. I had never thought to name my teddy bear, so the whole time I was freaking out and trying to come up with a clever name for my teddy bear before my turn came. When it got to me I panicked and said that my bear's name was "Madonna." I never did give it a real name. It's always just been my teddy bear.

  93. I just saw that Stanley fish today at a quilt shop here in FL. It was adorable!

My favorite stuffed animal is a big husky that our cat Butters is terrified of. That sounds a lot worse than it really is. She just hasn't realized the difference between it being a toy and the real thing, and she is the cutest little thing when she gets her dander all up when she sees it.

He would jump up and put his front paws on my shoulders and "dance" with me all over the back yard! I miss that doggie!
