I didn't know....

Did you know on cable TV there is a whole show just about a cupcake store?

I didn't. I didn't have cable until yesterday.

Did you know there are shows solely dedicated to brides finding wedding dresses?

I didn't. I didn't have cable until yesterday.

Did you know there is a whole week dedicated to Sharks??

I didn't. I didn't have cable until yesterday.

I'm patiently awaiting The Great Food Truck Race.

Sounds totally fantastic to me!!

No really. I'm not being facetious.

I adore reality TV.

And watching brides pick out wedding dresses and Granny frowning and fussing is just about as good as it gets for me!

I might not ever blog again because I have to go watch the show about the young couple finding a home in Croatia. Croatia! And looking at houses IN Croatia? Well, as you can see, I've got important things to do now.

How did I function for 25 years without cable?

  1. And there are lots of other useless, "did I need to know that" shows on cable. :))

  2. Ooh those are the kinds of reality shows I love! I also love the shows Obsessed (about OCD) and Hoarders and anything like that.

  3. We gave up cable for the summer and it was such a relief not to have to worry about what was on. But football season is about to start and we are going to get our cable tv again. I would love to go 25 years without cable.

  5. I have seen the DC cupcake show, the sisters are adorable, watch Hoarders....it will give you inspiration to organize :) The wedding dress shows kill me, the dress budgets are amazing...my entire wedding cost 2000.00, dress included!

  6. I was hooked on a show last night about a lady with all of these dogs and a man with all of these cats and their living conditions. It's kind of like a car wreck and I can't turn away.

Yeah, I saw those commercials for Hoarding. I think I will be loving that! :)

I forgot to mention that my husband thought he would be watching football. funny man.

  7. We cancelled satellite about 2 years ago, and to be honest, I only remotely miss it. If they had a sewing channel, then I might have to protest and beg hubby to start paying for it again. But, then it would be a struggle between hubby watching 50 channels of sports and kiddos watching 12 channels of cartoons that I'd never get to watch the one sewing channel. never mind.

  8. I know. The post I didn't do was all the SHOCKING crap that's on there. So it will be unhooked most of the time. my hubby is just humoring me right now to get it out of my system. the tv came with the internet/phone/tv bundle. it's kind of like, free for a year. then it will be gone again. we don't even have regular tv so this has been fun for a minute or two.

  9. I live in DC and have been to Georgetown Cupcake...since the show began, the lines outside have been obscene! It's funny, because their cupcakes are good, but there are other shops here in DC that I think are better!

  10. You are hilarious! This is why I have basic cable. I would be too tempted to watch all those shows. I guess I should say goodbye now. :( I will miss you.

  11. I never watch those shows either. Perhaps I should get busy wasting my time checking them out. But wait.....that would mean less sewing time!!!

  12. Ha! I never watch those shows at all, but my sister is in town and loves them. Last night we watched some cupcake competition and I have to say that I kind of got hooked. I hope she leaves before I'm totally a goner! :o)

  16. Haha! I just cancelled my cable - I'm sooo tired of all that "reality" TV ... I'm looking forward to making lots of things with all the time I'll have ... now I just have to give up reading blogs!

  17. I'm soooo jealous. We just embraced Netflix. I'm behind. I know. Well, now you don't have to watch your dvds 1,000 times.

  18. did ya get the dvr service? it's extra. but worth every cent. better make that every dollar. you can set it to record just the new shows. it will ignore the repeats. never watched Shark Week. but my guy Craig Ferguson talks about it every year. i really don't know how i would get any sewing done without law & order repeats on the tube. have fun. but it'll make you crazy.

  19. I Love Say Yes to the Dress!! When I get together with a couple of girlfriends for "girls night" we used to watch a movie, now we watch this (or that other wedding one, 4 weddings or something)

    We laugh SO much!!!

(although I just got rid of cable myself.....)

  21. I have never seen the cupcake show!

I watch House Hunters in bed every night - hopelessly addicted! The kids love River Monsters (sounds lovely, eh?).

But there are a lot of re-runs and a lot of channels we completely deleted because even the titles of the shows were too sleazy for the kids to see. Pro's & con's!

  22. WOOHOO enjoy! We just got cable after a LONG time without, I didn't sleep for the first 3 wks almost! I hope you got DVR don't want to miss anything ;) xoxo melzie

  23. yeah, Des, once you've seen all the shows once you can unplug it and send it back. Blech. I watched 'Say Yes to the Dress=Season 4' on Netflix Instant. LOVED IT, no commercials, only one season available. I'm good to go then. Hulu is another place you can watch what you want when you want and move on. There is a chance we will get a dish in the near future but I am dragging my feet. Have fun with it for awhile and then get back to sewing!!! :D

  24. I didn't have TV at all throughout the 80's and half of the 90's. I have no idea what people are talking about when they talk about actors and shows from that time period. I don't ever pick up the remote myself now... but I know way to much... and all the kids names on Idol or So You Think You Can Dance. Scarey.

  25. Oh, I'm so glad we don't have TV - I'd get so sucked in if we did! We do have Netflix and a projection system (that's our "TV"), so I'm not completely out of touch, but we really have to go through some hoops in order to watch something. I'm going to have to check out the wedding dress show if it's on Netflix - I think Vada would love that! :-)
