  1. Ooooh! LOVE the orange! Love the orange squishy insides scooped out of pumpkins. Love the giggles of children picking seeds from the pumpkin pulp. Love the flicker of candlelight from inside the jack-o-lanterns lining my driveway!!!!

  3. Ooo count me in. I didn't use to but I am really liking orange at the moment. Pumpkins hmm... Well when I was three and we lived in America, my mum dressed me up as a pumpkin for Halloween!! In the photos, all the other children, or girls should I say, are princesses, witches or ghosts and there I am in the middle, a bright orange pumpkin with my matching pumpkin basket...how embarassing!

  6. Pumpkin reminds me of pie with a taste of cinnamon which leads me to the crisp air and the falling leaves, walking to school or the weekly mobile library on Wednesday. That was ages ago and half a world away. Wish I am there now or at least we get a cooler weather here (and I don't mean rain).

  8. Pumpkins are edible monsters that taste good roasted, blended in soup or cut up in curries. They can be tiny or huge and make great decorations. They can be many colours on the outside but he best thing about Pumpkins is that they are orange in the middle and we love orange.

  16. Gorgeous fabrics...please count me in. Interesting fact about Pumpkins in the UK. When I moved here 10 years ago it would cost about £4 for a carving pumpkin...then every year since then they have been coming down in price as Halloween gets more and more popular every year. I think I paid £1 for one last year.

  17. Lovely orange fabric!! Umm pumpkins.....well, when I met my husband he wouldn't touch pumpkin with a stick let alone eat it, traumatic childhood- 'stay at the table till you finish your pumpkin!' - but I slowly reintroduced him to it and now he loves it - how could you not with it being such a nice colour!!

  36. I love orange and everyone I tell that to looks at me like I've lost my mind. But reading these comments, it seems I'm not alone in my love. Yay! About pumpkins... This past weekend, on the way to my parents' house, I drove by a pumpkin patch that had never been there before. I wanted to stop, but the store managing the pumpkin sales from the patch wasn't open. But if I had, I would have bought them, brought them home and started carving and then remembered how much WORK is involved in carving a pumpkin. I do this almost every year. You'd think I'd learn... Thanks for a chance to win some orange fabric!

  37. My daughter made the best pumpkin bread the other day. It has to be the best thing about pumpkins.

  38. this would be an awesome win for me as I've been collecting oranges for a pink, yellow and orange quilt for a while!

my two favorite pumpkin stories are:
my Grandpa used to grow prize winning pumpkins. one year, he brought his winner down for us to sit on on our front step. I think it weighed about 300lbs. it was ginormous!

the other is a video of a drunk squirrel my husband emailed me. the squirrel had eaten fermented pumpkin and couldn't even climb a tree. it ended up just falling backwards every time it tried.

thanks for every week, making me smile and giving me the chance to win yumminess!

When our kids were little we always gathered them after making the mess of carving and toasted them with salt and some other seasonings. A delightful treat! Sometimes the kids would eat too many of them, with not great results!!

This year we attempted to grow a pumpkin patch, but alas, there is a problem with germination of pumpkin seeds this year. And, my first car was orange - so you can guess that orange is a favorite color. Alternate email mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com

  126. I probably shouldn't say this out loud for fear of being tagged as really weird. I left a pumpkin out last year until the beginning of summer because I thought the texture change and feel was neat. My husband and son never let me forget it when I put something on my front stoop for decoration. They always ask if I'm going to let this one melt too.

  129. Here in Vancouver, fireworks were very legal and a big tradition at Halloween time. After the trickortreating, families would get together and set off fireworks in their area. That also brought along the teens who would steal your pumpkin in the late hours of night and set firecrackers in your pumpkin exploding them- only to see JackOLantern parts strewn all over the street. ;-)

  132. Cool fabrics! I love getting pumpkins in the fall to carve or eat. I really like the little baseball size ones even though I think they are technically gourds.
Somebody, and I wish I could remember who, had a link on their blog yesterday to a you-tube video. It was of a zoo-like place for just big cats. Stores and pumpkin growers would take them the leftover pumpkins at the end of the season. It showed the cats playing with and eating the pumpkins. I especially liked the part where a big tiger dove in the pool and swam out for a big pumpkin.

  136. I love, love, love pumpkin! It's my favorite fruit/veggie. I use it to make cookies, muffins, bread, smoothies, streudel, pie, and whatever else I can come up with. I use it year round but find it's not so quirky in the fall. Plus, with all my BSU Bronco lovin' boys around the house ORANGE is always a favorite. Love the new fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  137. I love that square of fabric with the crow and couch! Love the orange. As for pumplins, I always carve mine the day before halloween, and it's so cold here that we can put them outside and then I cut them up and use them to make citrus pumpkin butter. My family loves it, and it tastes like pumpkin pie on toast! Thanks for the chance to win!
