Great car stories....

Cute, cute line from Kellie Wulfsohn.

Are you familiar with her?

We were duly impressed at quilt market.
(that's not Kellie)
All of the quilts are applique.

Yeah,
applique.

This is her applique pattern & quilt,
but Riley Blake must have liked it so much,
they turned it into fabric.

Here is Peak Hour.

  3. How cute are these! My first car was what I bought with my hard earned money. A basic model: Maruti Alto. That model is specific to India, so you might not have heard of it.

    Thanks for the giveaway.

  4. My first car was a '69 Ford Fairlane 500...so big it felt like I was driving a giant boat down the street.

  5. Well, being raised on the farm - drove a lot of vehicles before 'driving' - thought it hystarical taking driver's ed just to get a permit and liscence since driving as soon as the feet reached the pedals. BUT first real car - a little chevette that finally collapsed with almost 300,000 miles.

  6. My first car was a little, light blue, Chevy Chevette. I was so proud of that thing! I love Kellie's stuff. I have one of her patterns. Thanks, Corrie!

  7. What adorable fabric! My first care was a poo brown and yellow-ish Plymouth Reliant Station Wagon that only stayed running by my dad's mechanic skills and me getting out and pouring water into the overflow radiator tank every few miles.

  8. I love this line - am trying to decide on a line to make a quilt for my first baby (a boy) due in June, and this is one of the favourites :)

My brother and I bought our first car together - honestly don't even remember what the make/model was but I do remember we thought it was cool because it had a sunroof, even if the rest of the car was pretty beaten up!

  9. Our first car was a green Morris Minor. It was my Father-in-Laws and we bought it off him, loved that little car....

  10. I learned do drive in my mom's mini van...just want every teenager wants to be seen in. But the first car I called my own was a Volkswagen Jetta that my husband bought before we were actually married. He got tired of driving me back to my parents house every night so he got me a car.

  11. I'm in love with this fabric. It is soooo cute.

My first car, a Seat Panda. One morning, when heading to where I'd parked the car the night before, I saw a huge completely unrecognizable pile of burnt metal.
During the night some ·$&"%· had put fire to a trashbin and the fire extended to several cars, one of them my dear Panda. The street was too narrow for the big fire truck to pass so until a smaller one arrived a long row of cars was destroyed. The worst was that as they didn't arrest anybody my insurance didn't pay.
Thanks a lot for the giveaway!

  13. My first car was a Dodge Dynasty that I bought for $1 from my Grandparents because they got a new car and didn't want that one anymore. It was always having problems but I had some fun with it while it lasted.

  14. My first car was a 1972 red Nova hatchback. I really wanted to jack up the back and put Craiger wheels on but I never did. Now I care nothing about wheels...as long as they are round!

  15. My first car is the one I have now, and I love it... it hasn't let me down yet. A Toyota Corolla.

    ReplyDelete
  16. My first car was a Geo Metro. I bought it brand new, right off the lot and put the entire thing on my credit card. Not one of my brightest moves, but we live and learn, right? I loved that car. It was brand new, so it was reliable, but it was just a Geo Metro, so I didn't care what happened to it. I took that thing everywhere. Camping, road trips, tied a canoe on top of it, loaded a BowFlex in the back of it, you name it. Good times, that car.

  17. My first car was a blue mini back in 1977!!I loved that car but when I married and had children it just wasn't big enough! Now they've all left home I'd love to have one again!

  19. My first car we a Ford Fiesta, brand new, a Christmas present from my husband. I knew nothing about it. John had arranged for the car to be delivered to a neighbour across the road who stored it secretly in his garage. On Christmas morning I wasa blind-folded and lead across and into their garage. The blind-fold was removed and THERE was my car, complete with a big bow of ribbon on the roof! Marvellous. I had the car for at least ten years.

  32. My first car was a Honda Accord hatchback -- yes, hatchback. It cost me $550 in 1991. It was allegedly black, but in certain lights, it had a brownish cast to it. Sadly, then engine burned up when someone (whom I will not throw under the bus) left the oil cap off and we drove from Provo to -- well, Malad Pass is where it blew up. Oh, and I LOVE Kellie's stuff.

  33. The first car I ever owned was a 1966 -I think - Chevy II; cost $220; the brakes went on day 2... but it survived almost 3 years with a lot of tlc.
Love the Peak Hour line; I've long admired Kelly's work but have been too intimidated to take the plunge!

  34. My first car was an early 80s Buick LeSabre. It was huge! My parents equated big with safe. Good gas mileage was not in fashion back then.

  35. Yeah! I'm officially the first one to answer who has never owned a car! I don't even have a driving licence! A very european thing, I guess, especially if you live in a big city like Barcelona, where you can get around with public transportation fairly easily (well, I guess many newyorkers don't think it's a very european thing, lol). I only miss cars when on vacation, because we can only go places where public transportation goes... but I can live with that. I think the world would be a much better place without cars... if only there were enough buses and trains for everyone! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. My first car was an old Pinto - you know the car that is famous for exploding on rear impact? When people asked "What color is your car?" I always said "Bondo and Green" You see, before I bought it -after scrimping and saving, what seemed like forever, someone did some bodywork on it but never got to the painting part. Ha ha.
One dark night I got it stuck on a railroad track and a train came before we could get it off the track - it bottomed out. The train threw it through the air. It landed "on its feet" and the flashers were still going. It was totalled and it broke my heart.

  40. My first car was a brand new 1988 Mercury Cougar. My family was middle class, so this was a huge surprise. It was actually the result of my mother and father having a huge (super huge) argument. I guess I was the winner of that one.

  46. My first car was a yellow Pontiac Catalina convertible that my father gave me. It was used but so much fun to drive, so much fun it's a wonder I am here today! I remember it used to take ten dollars to fill up the tank and I thought that an outrageous amount! I ended up selling it to a medical student whose check bounced.

  48. Awe, what adorable fabric. =) I bought my first car from my Brother...it was small and blue and I don't remember the made/model anymore...but it was a 5spd! I didn't know how to drive stick...so let's just say that after 1 ten minute lesson, I was on my own. I don't know how many times I stalled or left rubber on the road, but I had lots of time to be humbled in that car! =)

  49. My first car was one my grandparents were no longer using. It wasn't exactly dependable and I was a little afraid to drive it.

  51. Sorry, messed up my first comment and didn't notice till it was posted...Well, Oh my gosh.. The first car I drove, at 16 (sooooo many years ago) was a little pastel green, 1959*(I think), Ford Falcon that my folks owned. But the first car I actually owned was a 1968 Camaro Rally Sport, white with black vinyle top and a "four on the floor"! Bought it in 1969, just a couple of months before my hubby came home from Vietnam. Paid the huge price of $2300 for it with payments $47 a month. Sold it a year later to buy a plane ticket so I could go live in Hawaii, where my hubby was stationed in the Marine Corps after returning from Vietnam. What I would give to have that sweet little car now! I adore Kellie's quilts, each one is a work of art. Thanks for a chance in your giveaway! Hugs...

  52. The first car I bought myself was a 1978 orange Ford Fiesta. It was a 5 speed with a/c and my father installed a new cassette stereo for me. Unfortunately I didn't know how to drive a stick. Still I gave myself plenty of time to get to work and bucked all the way, until I got the hang of it. It was great on gas and being orange it was easy to find in the parking lot. Thanks for the great giveaway! ;-> Toni Anne

  55. WooHoo!!! Peak Hour -- Finally!!! I'd like to direct your attention to the classified ad featuring ... ahem ... Me LOL! When we were at market in SLC, our rental car was a cube. Kellie and Jan kept giving me a hard time 'cause I didn't set the parking brake. I kept trying to tell them that Americans don't usually set them unless we're on a hill or something. (Do you???) They thought that was REALLY awful and totally unsafe. There was a LOT of teasing back and forth about that. So, of course, Kellie put the cube in the ads!

Oh wait. You wanted my first car. A Plymouth Valiant and it was ugly. Thankfully about a year after I got it, some woman pulled out in front of me and it was totalled. The replacement was a rockin' Camaro -- Yipee!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. LOL. My first car was a dark green Ford Falcon with three gears on the wheel. I was shocked when Dad offered to buy me a car to commute to college. I didn't think it was possible I would ever have my own car. We named her Amelia and drove the wheels off of her. Love the car ad print! Will need to get some of that! Have a great day!

  59. Oh yes, I was a lucky one! My first car was my brothers' hand me down, a 1964 1/2 Mustang. Only problem was that he really hadn't taken very good care of it. It left me stranded many times and when I got married, my hubby and I traded it in on another used car and the salesman said he would give me $25 to get the Mustang off the road..LOL Thanks for the chance to win this super cute fabric!

  63. Gah! That fabric is ADORABLE! My first car was a Ford Escort and I paid 800 bucks for it. It lasted all through high school and two years of college. I finally had to sell it (for 300 bucks) when I got married because my husband couldn't stand it. ;)

My 3 year old son loves this fabric, he's a huge car fanatic!

  65. LOVE this line and can't wait to get my hands on that newspaper print. My first car was called the "war wagon". It was an 85 Monte Carlo and it was a monster. I had to drive it like Ace Ventura with my head out the window in the winters sometimes because the defrost and heaters didn't work well and living in MN it gets really cold in the winter. Of course I was always running late to school so I didn't have time to attempt to let it warm up so I bundled up and drove with the windows down in below zero Fahrenheit. My friends never wanted me to drive, but I saved lots of money on gas so I was okay with that.

    ReplyDelete
  66. a ford tempo- loved it- got me everywhere i needed to go and had no problems - drove it into the ground :) love cars like that :)!!

  67. My first car was a surprise purchase by my late father. It was an orange Chevy Nova.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Ack, how unbearably cute! Kelli's work is amazing. My first car was a Honda Civic wagon. It became the source of a family joke when my Dad and I replaced the thermostat: I was putting the new one in and he told me to "give it one more good turn," and the bolt broke off in the housing! It was an adventure and it does get thrown back at him sometimes.

  74. My first car was a banana yellow used 1974 Toyota Corolla - very basic 4-door automatic. I had been saving my babysitting money for YEARS! And literally one day before my 16th birthday, my parents withdrew all my money from the bank and put some of their money with it, and purchased this car without telling me one word of what they were doing. I was pretty upset that I didn't get to participate in the decision process. But that car served me well for 10 years and the gas mileage was phenomenally great!
Thanks for chance to win such cute fabric!

Thanks so much for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  96. My first car was an old Pontiac (can't remember what year, but I'm pretty sure it was pre-historic! lol) that looked a LOT like the Batmobile. It had the rear fins and was a hideous green color. The car had been wrecked before I got it and the owner had only been able to replace the front fenders with an ugly red color so my two-toned car looked like a Christmas Tree version of the Batmobile! It rocked!
Thanks for the memories - this made me laugh out loud!

The back said "Think Snow" and had a skiing motif. No I don't ski LOLOL. It was great. The emergency brake was not good. I'd look out of the kitchen window and see my truck in the middle of the street! Also if you turned the engine off before turning off the lights, the battery drained completely! Good thing I was in high school and these things were funny!!

  119. Our (me & my sister) first car was a turquoise 1967 Chevy Bel Aire. It was the BEST car and took a lot of abuse from the both of us. That was when cars were still made of metal, not fiberglass. We wanted a Volkswagon but, but my Dad said no-he considered them death traps. He wanted his girls protected.

  125. cute fabric.
My first car was my grandmothers 1964 Chevy Impala. My grandmother bought it new and had the optional seatbelts installed. She did not opt for the windshield washers as the windshield was cleaned every time she bought gas. It rolled over to 100,000 miles after 16 years. Since there was no air, I didn't get to take it to college and it was passed down to my brother.

  141. The first car I ever bought with my very own money was a red, 2 door Civix DX that I had a sun roof put into. I took such good care of that car and after 9 years it barely had 30,000 miles on it. Then it was stolen from in front of my house, with a Club locked on the steering wheel! I was so devastated. Still look at every red Civic I see, hoping its mine...
