I'm All for Cheating

Flag Day Farm quilt is flapping in the wind. Finished it. You don't have to oooooh & ahhh, remember it's a cheater cloth panel. Love the red.

Tried two new methods: free motion machine quilting & machine binding.

It has a cool quilt stitch design marked on the panel. For a whole two minutes, I tried to follow the design with my sewing maching. Not happening. Scary results. So I saw they had a nifty diamond straight line pattern that I could follow. That was doable for me.

It would have been gorgeous with the other quilting, but the quilt is going outside, I'm not hand quilting it.
Machine binding -- another first. Here's a tip, make sure the binding is wide enough. :-)

Maybe I like it better on the rocker.Makes me think of a hot summer day. Wish it weren't raining.
Oh, the sun will come out, tomorrow.....

  2. Oooh aaah - it's really nice! I'm so glad I bought some of that from you! The quilting sounds a bit scary, but I have always wanted to give hand quilting a go, so maybe I will do that. :-)

  7. Kudos to you for going out of your comfort zone! I think the quilt looks great! Do you take them in at night or in bad weather? Do you always have a quilt hanging on the porch? I think our homeowners would fine me if I hung a quilt out! Went to Disney yesterday with Logan. I thought of you guys. I hope you come down again soon!

  16. I just posted asking anyone if they know how to machine bind. Do you have any other tips on how to do it. Hard to believe it's a cheater panel. Really a nice quilt!
