My New Friend

Sewing notions in mason jars -- it's a good thing.

...until I actually need that green thread at the bottom of the jar.

So I start to shake.

Still shaking...

I got the pink one out. Kind of a pain when I'm roaring to sew. The rim of the jar has a chip, so I try to watch that as I poke my fingers up there.

Eventually they all come out in a tangled thread mess & I've loved that until now.

Ahhhhhhh....organization at it's best.

My new friend, the Super Slim Satchel.

Yes, there are other containers that will hold a hundred spools. I'm not ready for that.

Then I would want the spools all the same size and hello?, more thread.

Better not go there. Let's go here. Everyone safe & sound.

  1. I have a large jar of cottons too,
thankfully mine has a much wider neck, they are lovely to look at like that. You are now going to be super organised with you new thread box.

  2. I bought a thread keeper that has little pegs in the box to put the spools on. Sadly the bobbins dont fit on the spools. My idea was to put the bobbins on there on top of the spools. Oh well, now I have bought one of those bobbin keepers too.

  3. I love containers that keep things all nice and neat. The jars were awfully cute, though.

  4. Looks like some of your thread is made by Connecting Threads??? If so, what do you think of the quality?
BTW, I love your blog and all your wonderful pictures!

  5. You can never go wrong with new containers. The jars were pretty just not handy.

  6. I do the same thing, too! I find some little thing that is cutsie to store stuff in and then it is such a pain to get out, I never put it back! It remains a mess on the floor forever. . .

  7. I want a new friend like you have. My threads are in a drawer. I'm constantly finding strings hanging out or finding threads tangling up in the drawer. The jar is cute though!

  8. Hmm smart. I have some jars too. And a big bin for my thread. It is nice to keep things organized where you can see them all.

  11. As soon as I saw the jars I wondered "but how does she get them out?" Sorry you had to go to less visually appealing plastic, but it clearly works better.

  12. Wondering why I didn't get your post in my blog reader thingamajob. Hmmmmm. Thinking a wide mouth jar MIGHT be easier but then again maybe not. I like your plastic case though since it looks like there is room for the matching bobbin. I try to keep mine together. Emphasis on TRY.
