  1. All of mine have been food and the best is the yummy apricot chicken casserole I received when I moved to the house I am in now

  2. Last year I made my neighbors a table runner and cookies. This year a smaller sewing project, a 19" square hanging block (and a scarf for the lady of the house). The best I received was a great traditional german cake thing from my landlord last year - so simple and yummy!

  3. Free snow shovelling! Best neighbor ever.

  4. I live in France so language can sometimes be a problem. My neighbours are so generous every year we are supplied with veggies from their garden. Last November Mimi was diagnosed with breast cancer, I did what everyone does at times like this, I made her a quilt. After lots of treatment I am pleased to say she has been given the all clear...maybe quilts do work some magic!! Thanks for the chance to win.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Food gifts here too! but I usually give the food in a homemade bag

    ReplyDelete
  6. When we first moved into our home our new next door neighbors fed is a delicious dinner. After moving all day, that was such a blessing and warm welcome to the neighborhood. Thanks for the chance to win such a pretty collection of fabrics!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I always give my neighbors a box of homemade tree ornaments.

    ReplyDelete
  8. one year one of our neighbors gave out coupon books, pick up your mail while your on vacation, a bar b que invitation in the summer, free baby sitting , etc
it was the best gift ever, someone giving you time and a gift from the heart

  9. Last week I have given to my neighboor a baby quilt for her little baby

    ReplyDelete
  10. My lovely neighbour that only just moved in next door came to my surprise 30th and spoiled me with the most beautiful shower gel and moisturiser! Something I would have never bought myself!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I LOVE PKM! I pick up pretty Christmas candles for pennies on the dollar after Christmas, sometimes already wrapped and on their own pretty stand. They make great little gifts for neighbors and friends:>)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Best neighbor gift I ever got was a centerpiece for the Christmas table handmade by my elderly neighbor. I'd completely forgotten about decorating the table and she saved the day!

    ReplyDelete
  13. We purchase 16 different dried bean packages, mix them up and repackage for a bean soup mix. We include a recipe with the mix. Folks who love hot bean soup love this gift. It's one of our family traditions.

    ReplyDelete
  14. My best neighbour gift is always food. When we first moved here, a neigbour came over with home made rolls, bread, and cookies...who would ever want to leave after that! And when I want to bring a smile to someone, it is always food! Except at Christmas and on birthdays when it is usually a quilted item!

  15. Last week my neighbors honored my mother's memory with a gift card to purchase a tree. We will plant it next spring.

  16. I live in Minnesota and it snows a lot. My neighbor surprised me with a pair of cute pink wool mittens she had made to keep my hands warm when I am blowing the snow out of my driveway. The mittens are perfect and now my hands stay warm. A very thoughtful and much appreciated gift!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. My neighbors give me Ohh so delicious trays of Greek baking including baklava.
    We snowblow their driveway.
Thanks for such a lovely fabric giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  18. My husband often snow blows our neighbors out before they get home at the end of the day!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I think the best neighbour gift was a cup of tea and a hug. In the UK a cup of tea will cure almost anything. On this particular occasion though my grandpa had just passed away. My neighbour picked the children up from school for me, so that I could make arrangements to go to the funeral. She also fed my cat when we were away.
We put their bins out when they are away not a big thing but it helps.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think the only neighbor's gift I've received was when we first moved out to the country about 18 years ago, the little old lady across the street made me an apron made out of the backside of denim jeans and red bandana material for the tie around. Its really sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Cookies and a poinsietta. Thanks for the great giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  22. for one very special elderly lady I gave a coupon book for rides for yard sales....

    ReplyDelete
  23. I take a christmas box and when I make our Christmas candies and cookies (LOTS of kinds) I put a sampling of each kind into a small christmas box with tissue paper. I like to still make all of the Christmas cookies, we just don't have the house full of kids still to eat them all. So it works for me to give them away and then I don't eat all those fattening goodies and people can get a sample of foods made in other households..different treats. Maybe ask for a new recipe of something they havn't tried before, and add to their holiday recipes.

    ReplyDelete
  24. We exchange a plate a cookies and homemade ornament with our neighbors for Christmas! Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sorry, it's a food gift, but the best one we ever received was 18 years ago, when we were new in town. The elderly neighbor lady, who was of Norwegian descent, brought over a plate of Kringla. Absolutely delicious! My mother started making Kringla after that, as my boys asked for it. Since both of these ladies are no longer around, if I want Kringla now, I will have to make it myself. The fabric is lovely. Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Flowers or potted plants like an amaryllis are always nice! Thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  27. The only one neighbor who came to our house, bring us food!!!!, it was a homemade cake

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've never gotten anything from a neighbor for a holiday. In the past I have given colorful cellophane covered plates with a variety of homemade cookies.

    ReplyDelete
  29. My neighbor gives us (my youngest daughter) all the clothes that her daughter has become to big for. - That is really a huge help for us.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I make mason jars full of glass candy for my neighbors! they love it - especially the root beer flavored batch! thanks!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  32. Neighbour gifts? A small doily made of my own HDTs.

    ReplyDelete
  33. My neighbors are two nice college boys who helped me with my car when my husband was gone. We bought them a case of beer :-) My other neighbor I take her flowers/roses from my yard in the summer. Thank you for the giveaway, this fabric is SO adorable.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  36. My neighborgive my a ring to my graduation! Very sad that she passed away a few years ago!

    ReplyDelete
  37. We had given to us, pumpkin bread in a ceramic bread pan (from Michael's I think, they have them for fall and Holidays)and it was wrapped in an embroidered linen(?)bread basket liner. It said Bread with a pretty border. I think we lost it in the last move. :(
I also liked our "Days of the week" kitchen towels with the ties to put it on the stove.
And some other friends of ours always include a miniature ornament on their plate of goodies with their name and year on the back.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Every neighbor gift I've ever given or received was food :) I think there's just something old fashioned comfortable about giving homemade food. One year my daughter received a set of cookie cutters to make a nativity scene, and since then every year we give trays of nativity cookies.

    ReplyDelete
  39. My neighbor is a great artist, and she has given us some hand painted glass ball ornaments. Beautiful! I usually resort to giving baked goods or a decorated gingerbread house made from graham crackers.

    ReplyDelete
  40. It's usually homemade toffee from here!

I love those bright and cheery fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I can tell you the worst neighbor gift we got... neighbors that had only known us about 6 months gave us body scrub, candles and massage oil. It was quite awkward. I would have preferred cookies.

I like giving the mixes in a jar because I figure it is something quick you can make if unexpected company comes by.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The best neighbor gift I received was the word "Hope" in decorative metal when my premature baby was in the hospital.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have never received a present from my neighbours. Isn't that sad? That's probably one of the reasons why we are moving out. We slept in our old appartment for the last time two nights ago and are right now staying at my sister's place until our new home is completely finished renovating. Once we move there, I plan on baking muffins for my new neighbours. I hope they enjoy them :-)

  44. The best neighbor gift was my parents neighbors whose sons gave my parents homemade gift cards for taking down their trash cans and shoveling snow. I was several hours away and knew I didn't have to worry about them trying to shovel snow.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Oh the best neighbor gift I've received is a homemade heat/cold pack. It is in darling fabric & our family uses it all the time. Which is good because it's going on four years now. With four kids, someone is always got a muscle to heat, or a cold pack for ouchies.

Anyway, thanks for the chance at the giveaway. Darling fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Not sure if i ever got a neighbor gift. although gift cards are nice. something homemade is nice also. especially sewn. linda gerig

    ReplyDelete
  51. Best gifts ever come from my angel friend Kathy. She surprises me with gifts every holiday, every season change, and for no reason at all. Right before Thanksgiving I got a pumpkin basket with pumpkin candy, tissues, nuts, pumpkin pancake mix, and more. Love her! Thanks for the giveaway. I am home today due to extreme winds. School is closed!

    ReplyDelete
  57. A few months ago my doorbell rang at about 10:00 at night. It was my neighbour with a big fish! Over 30 lbs. They were running out of room in their freezer so he gave it to us. I don't know if that was the greatest gift but it certainly is the most unique!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Our neighbours gave us a Poinsetta plant last year - it was very unexpected and a beautiful surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Best neighbor "gift" I ever got was my neighbor mowing my acre yard with his riding mower for me when we were getting ready to move. It meant the world to me since we only had a push mower, and I needed to be inside packing up our house!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Homemade Christmas ornaments! The fabric is gorgeous Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  61. How about Baker's Twine!!!???:) jk
I gave honey in squeeze bottles last year.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Non food neighbour idea....packing firewood, shovelling snow, a sprig off a favourite plant, some special seeds for planting in the spring. An invitation to come over and play cards or just chat.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh dear. I must be very un-neighbourly. I've never given or recieved a neighbour gift!

    ReplyDelete
  64. One year our neighbour across the road who was very new to quilting, made a small quilt for our dog. It was a very nice and unexpected gift. I once baked a chicken and made a big chocolate cake to give to my next door neighbours who were going through a rough patch. :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I gave an icecream gift set. Fancey icecream bowls, spoons, and lots of toppings and sprinkles, a can of whipped cream and a jar of cherries. And a tub of icecream of course. But my neighbor is a notorious icecream lover!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hmmm, that's a hard one for me~ I always give food! Or those mixes in jars for soup or something they can cook when they want. One of our neighbors gave us movie tickets one year to go to a movie as a family~ that was a bit hit. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Up until this year, I only gave candy or food. This year, I made a Christmas pot holder to go with peppermint cream cupcakes. I think they were both a hit!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I've never had a neighbor give me a gift. I've given homemade bread numerous times and used to snowblow our elderly neighbor's driveway when we lived in Ohio. That fabric is cute but I want to know, what exactly is a Pam Kitty Morning? lol.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I had a wonderful neighbour who'd come cut my grass for me. I had a big yard and a big allergy to grass, so I was very grateful. He and his wife would leave me big bags of fresh vegetables from their garden, too. It was a big help for a frazzled, poor single working mom. I would bake them bread as a thank you.

The set of fabrics is so cheeful. I'd have so much fun making some bright kitchen curtains!

  70. One year I canned dozens of jars of jam. Blackberry, peach, banana, apple butter. That year my neighbors got a jar of each and some homemade mini breads to go with it. I need to do that again sometime.

    ReplyDelete
  71. The sweetest neighbor gift that I received was a plant (rooted and potted just for me), fresh fruit (picked from the neighbor's trees), and an invitation to a lovely tree trimming party. I've liked "Pam Kitty Morning" blog since pre-fabric and her "PKM radio", so please enter me into the drawing for your generous giveaway of charms.

    ReplyDelete
  72. The best thing I ever made was Swedish Limpa bread. I gave a loaf to our elderly neighbors and they told me that they loved it and hadn't had it in ages, so every year I made them some.

    ReplyDelete
  79. When I was moving, my neighbour and her mother brought me a large bag of samosas that they had made that morning. It was a goodbye gift so that we wouldn't have to cook the first night in our new home. The samosas were delicious. And very much appreciated. Pam Kitty Morning is also delicious. I just love this fabric. There are so many things I would like to make with it. Thanks for this fab giveaway.

  80. accually this is my moms favorite. you buy a box of ding dongs and ho hos. Tie them together with ribbon. Then on the card you write Ho Ho Ho from your ding dong neighbor. cute

    ReplyDelete
  81. I was trying to create a cottage-style garden but seemed to have a black thumb as far as flowers like foxgloves were concerned. My neighbour dug up some of hers and transplanted them into my garden where they've grown happily ever since.

    ReplyDelete
  82. My favorite gift I gave a neighbor was a friendship pillow I made for my best neighbor when we moved away. She put it in her entryway on a bench and seeing it always makes me smile.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I like to give tablerunners as neighbor gifts--if I am not giving food. My favorite pattern is the disappearing nine patch, love the randomness and you can put so many colors in, that it is bound to work in any kitchen.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Our new neighbors brought us homemade fudge on Thanksgiving morning, it was so delicious! We usually make Christmas cookies with the kiddos and give them to our neighbors in quilted handmade goodie bags :)

  85. The very best neighbor present was two dinners and dessert she prepared and froze. I was working (outside the home) full time. What a wonderful treat for those days when I was too tired to cook.

    ReplyDelete
  86. We have chickens so we gift out neighbors with fresh eggs and produce in the summer months.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Cookies are my favorite neighbor gift to give and to receive! For the past few years we have been making the jar cookie mixes for neighbor and teacher gifts. They are requested every year! People can whip up a batch of warm homemade cookies whenever they feel the need to have them....and yes it is a need! These comments are informative!

    ReplyDelete
  88. My best gift was a tupperware pickle keeper! I hate getting my hands wet!

    ReplyDelete
  89. The best neighbor gift I have gotten would have to be one of those cake/cookie mix in a Mason jar with a recipe attached. All was needed was to include the liquids. Love it when all (almost all) of the ingredients are right there.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Best neighbor gift was a quart jar with dry ingredients for Friendship Soup. It also had a tag with instructions...it was great made up on a chilly day.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Food seems to be universal. My favorite was a wonderful Christmas challah bread. I like to give homemade peanut brittle or spiced nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  92. The best neighbour gift is a shovelled driveway after a huge snowstorm (what can I say, we live in the North)! Homemade strawberry jam is also one of my favourites to both give and receive!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I try to give mine something I make. It's usually machine embroidered dish towels, but once I gave them some acrylic coasters with their initial inside. They turned out pretty cute.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Gosh, we don't do neighbor gifts around here. ;-( If we did though, I would probably do some sort of basket with a theme. LOVE that PKM fabric!

    ReplyDelete
  95. The best neighbor gift is my slow cooker. When hurricane Wilma took our electricity out in 2005 we where one of the few people in our corner street with full propane tanks for our grill. Our next door neighbor witch we didn't know very well at that time had lots of food in the freezer but nothing to cook on. So we put our heads together and we made the food and he supplied it. It was the best week I have been in a electricity outage ever, lol. A month later he came over with this box for me and in it was the slow cooker, and we all know what a saver that is when we are sewing along and don't want to stop to make food for the family.

  96. A cord of split & stacked firewood for a neighbor that was unable to do their own. cnd2821@blackfoot.net. I am a follower, but it won't take my google id for posting.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Coasters...they are so easy to make!

    ReplyDelete
  98. My neighbour gave ME a great gift - she asked her daughter to pose with my bags so I can take pics. She saw me struggling to take pics of my bags without a model.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I think the best neighbor gift I ever received was a small wooded wall hanging. About 10 years ago, my sweet neighbor had hand painted this little hanging of the word "JOY". It was done in reds and greens with adorable little images painted around the borders of each letter. She then attached a thin wire at each side with a tiny screw, using adorable red and white gingham style ribbons to make bows at each side, concealing the tiny screws. I still use it in my decorating every year.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hmmm.. My neighbor gives us a box of homemade cookies each year..although I hope for something different...

    ReplyDelete
  101. The best neighbor gift is cleaning snow off of their car....I love when my neighbor did this for me before I got married. Now we return the favor to our elderly neighbor.

    ReplyDelete
  102. A special neighbor we had a long time ago made stockings for each of my children. Even though the youngest is now a senior in college, we still use them.
    Love the fabric!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I put together CD's of Christmas music and keep a stack by the front door... and give them out to people who drop by. I love all of the other ideas that people are sharing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  104. My most appreciated neighbor gift was to my special neighbor and new friend. She and her husband were going to Europe/Paris for a 2 week celebration of their 50th anniversary. She doesn't scrapbook, but they do take photos. She loves looking at scrapbooks, so I gave her a butterfly (her favorite) covered journal with instructions to write down the who, what ,when and where of the photos, but more importantly the sounds, and smells (baking bread or baking scones at the cafe smell different),the tastes and the type of day (sunny and warm, sunny and cold look the same in a photo). Now when they reminisce, they not only will remember the sights, but also the true feelings of the photos.

Love the fabric. Would love to win!

    ReplyDelete
  105. I have never received a neighbor gift. When we moved out here we were told that people keep to themselves and so should we...lol

    ReplyDelete
  106. We give Gift certificates to the locally owned garden center. We have also given "Christmas Bulbs" of the non-electric type. Dormant bulbs are wonderful, especially if they can't plant them right away. And they magically appear year after year.

    ReplyDelete
  107. My best neighbor gift is chocolate/walnut fudge. The kids all come over wanting to know when it will be ready.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I LOVE this fabric! Please, please, please let me be the winner!

Best neighbor gift - my neighbor in Georgia always brought me homemade toffee every year. It was so delicious and I was SO thankful for it because I cannot for the life of me get toffee to turn out. I've heard the quality of the butter can make a difference so this year I'm buying better butter. I miss my neighbor and her toffee...

    ReplyDelete
  109. Best gift to the neighbors? cinnamon rolls using a white cake mix.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I have only done food gifts too. Some of those soup mixes or cookie mixes in a jar.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I've never given anything to or received anything from a neighbor other than flowers before. But I think a little picnic basket would be cute with handmade napkins and picnic blanket.

Love these fabrics. Right up my alley. Thanks for giving some away!

    ReplyDelete
  112. Sadly, I've never gotten a neighbor gift. We lived out in an isolated rural setting for over 25 years and we recently moved to town. No gifts. I am reading the comments with interest and getting lots of ideas for the next new neighbor who moves in our street.
