Gum: My Nemesis

For today's giveaway post, I'd like to hear about gum. I'm not a gum chewer, although you caught me in this last post. I don't have gum laying around the house. I'm not grabbing gum in the checkout lane at the grocery store. Empty gum wrappers strewn around is not an issue at my house. YET, I continue to have the same dream over and over. I'm not riding the school bus naked or anything, I just always have a HUGE wad of gum in my mouth and can't talk. And in the dream I'm always kicking myself because I can't believe I have put SO much gum in my mouth. I try pulling it out and Hey! it's like pulling taffy! I just keep pulling and pulling. It's stuck to the roof of my mouth. I had a very important speech to give last night and there I was chewing gum again and it was soooo embarrassing. Try hiding 12 packs of gum in your cheeks.

So tell me about your gum addiction, favorite brand, or be a dream analyzer, but be kind. I already know I have a big mouth! Winner will be announced tonight. ~Des

  1. I used to chew Fruit Stripe and Big Red when I was a kid...and for years, I would stick it under the loose post (if that is what it is called) on my four-poster bed. I cannot believe how disgusting that is! It took my mom and I three hours to clean it out when we took down the bed!!!

GROSS! (Haven't chewed gum since that fateful day!) Sorry about your nasty dreams...hope they get better!

  2. Sounds to me like you're feeling stifled or unable to communicate in some way. Are you feeling misunderstood or ignored? Is there some obstacle in the way of an important bit of communication?

OK, there's my pop psychology for the day :) Best wishes to you!

  3. Gum, huh? I'm not a big gum chewer either, but I found this raspberry kind at Target and it's pretty yummy, although it only lasts for about 2 minutes, then it's like chewing wax...

  4. My sweet cousin reminded me the other day that when we were little she borrowed my spiderwoman underoos when she stayed the night. Then she slept with gum in her mouth. The next morning my poor underoos were covered in gum and my mom was spitting mad, lol.
I chew gum and I imagine I probably smack it just as loudly as I'm able, but if I catch my kids smacking theirs I make them spit it out. What a hypocrite I am.
Oh and I've had almost that same dream, lol.
It's funny...for some reason I saw a picture of a gum wall the other day and I felt faint from the grossness of it, hehe.
    Oh here it is(((shiver)))

  5. I kicked the gun habit a few years ago but I was a Big Red fanatic as a teen. I chewed so much it beace my signature calling card so to speak. I would leave wrappers on the windshields of my friends cars with no note attached and they would know exactly who it was from ;)

  6. If I chew gum too frequently it hurts my jaw, so that usually stops the excess. I eat chocolate instead! :)

  7. Okay, I will speak for the gum chewers of the world. I LOVE gum. I seem to have a very dry mouth. When I am having to talk to patients all day long, it seem to help with that. I also don't want to have alligator breath when I am close and speaking to my patient. I say that it is strictly for the benefit of them, but I really like the flavor also. I love Trident sweet mint. Yum Yum! I carry a pack in my purse, one in my locker at work, and one in my various different coats. Always want to be prepared. That is my motto!

  8. I love Wrigley's gum. I've gone through many favorites in my life time...first double mint, then spearmint, then juicy fruit, then big red and now winterfresh. This one lasts for quite a while, but it makes me thirsty.

  9. I'm not a gum chewer - I used to be but I wore railroad-track-braces when I was a teenager and I think that broke the habit for me.

I have been with my sweetie for 19 1/2 years now. At least twice a week he will turn to me while he's driving and ask me if I've got any gum.

Now why would I have gum - I NEVER have gum. In the 19 1/2 years that we have been together I have never had any gum to give him. You would think he would have given up asking by now...but I'll bet you anything, tomorrow or the next day we will be driving...and out of the blue he will ask me if I have any gum. I would actually be willing to put money on it!

Kind of cracks me up really. Just goes to show that he never really listens to me :o)

  10. I chew gum rarely, I hate the way it tastes and feels when you chew too long, hard and bitter. Bubble gum is the worst and I'm such a uncoordinated dope I couldn't blow bubbles with gum until I was in my twenties.

  11. I choose not to chew. :o)

  12. I chew gum rarely but I always have a pack in my purse just in case I or whomever I'm with needs a piece and it has to be sugarless because otherwise there's a really gross aftertaste.
As far as your dream goes I once read that not being able to talk or make a speech for whatever reason means there's an unresolved issue that you're dealing with. I dunno how true that is but there you go.

  13. Chewing gum. Yucko. I think if people could see themselves chewing away on it they would STOP.

  14. I'm not a big gum chewer. I liked chicklets when they were around, i like the "original" flavor of extra. Fruit stripe was ok when it was around.. but I seem to remember a vaguely banana flavored gum that was just vile.

    Taffy.. is better.

  15. I love gum - gum is the greatest substance on earth!! You can chew it, pop it, crack it and blow humongous bubbles with it!! My gum of choice is double bubble, but I can only chew it in the privacy of my own home since I look like a cow with cud!

  16. Mmmm...gum is good! I remember as a kid asking for a penny for the gumball machine. When I was able to talk my mom into giving me a penny, it was a whole lot like gambling. You'd put your penny in the machine and turn the knob while cupping your hand under the little shoot in hopes a whole bunch of gumballs would come out...hah! you were generally lucky if one came out.
