Two childrens’ garments created with charm packs or assorted coordinating 5” fabric squares. By varying the number of squares used for the perimeter of the garment you can make a variety of little girl sizes. The skirt has an elastic waist and the jumper has shoulder straps that crisscross at the back and button at the front. Embellish seams by adding lace, rick-rack or vintage trim for unique detailing. Sizes 2-8.
How do I win this cute pattern?? Leave us a comment about.......................what? Hmmm......Well, I'm exchanging my Freezer meals tonight and then the search will begin again. What 2 meals should I make NEXT month? I could look at my handy dandy notebook that I made to see what I've made before, but I JUST made it. So, yeah, this is a hard one to guess, but I need ideas. Share a recipe, Costco favorite :), heck, your favorite cold cereal. I don't care. Just give me something to think about in the food category. If it can be helpful to my cause, that would be GREAT. But don't stress your brain and NOT post. It's time for lurkers to come out from behind your screens!! :) I will draw a name in the morning, Friday, because we were so late today. So now you have LOTS of time to look through Grandma's recipe book.
thepioneerwomancooks.com is an awesome site for recipes...I tried her chicken salad to do simple sandwiches one night and they were SO good! And cute patterns!
ReplyDeleteEnchiladas! Bean and rice, add cheese or not, add chicken or not. I use a 'mild' sauce that isn't really so mild (to my kids anyway). I have THREE very BIG pans of these in the freezer right now. I made them for graduation but because I made so much pasta we ate that for two nights. I have pasta in the freezer too. I wasn't even planning on freezer meals when I did these. BONUS
ReplyDeleteThe patterns are very cute. I have NO idea who I would sew those for. Don't pick my name this week ;)
Oh my GOSH! I love this pattern. I am really going to work hard for this one. Let's see recipies, recipies. I'm thinking they need to be freezable. Let's see. I don't have some fantastic lasagna recipe that I know you would like, so - thinking, thinking. I know, I know, freezer meals that are in the freezer section at Walmart. My poor family! That's as good as it gets during the workweek. Hey, at least they are fed, right. Hey, I want you to know that I really thought hard over these. Hope the extrz effort works.
ReplyDeleteOkay I have mucho recipes on my blog that I love and the Chicken Salsa one is so DARN easy!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know I already won recently but you do know I need that pattern, my ginger blossom squares are sceaming for it. You said so yourself:):):)
Bridget and I were talking, since you are giving away 2 meals we think you should give away 2 patterns. JUST KIDDING!
Hope you find some yummy recipes.
:)Rachel
I am so not a cook either so for me I love to make soups, cooks all day and it lasts up to 3 meals sometimes...chicken tortilla is so easy and you can never go wrong with a good vegtable beef with barley....
ReplyDeleteI have a 4 1/2 year old who would love a skirt like this, maybe even this 35 year old!
I LOVE that pattern - and just got a bunch of beautiful charms that would work lovely with it. Plus I have three little girls that I can already picture wearing them. And yes, I would like to get some rick rack with that.
ReplyDeleteFreezer meals? I love the sausage lasagna from Costco (great deal - comes in a two pack), chicken pot pies (yummm), and I like to double my chicken casserole recipe and save one for later (2 cups spiral noodles, cooked chopped chicken, cheddar cheese, can of mushroom soup, cup of milk, cup of chicken broth, celery, onion, some Mrs. Dash - bake at 350 for one hour).
And anytime I put pork chops or chicken in the freezer that's intended for the bbq later, I'll put them in a ziploc bag with a marinade so that they'll marinade as they thaw out. We love bbq season around here!
my favorite freezer meal is lasagna. no special recipe. i use jar sauce. (Paul Newman's Marinara is my current fav). & ricotta, parsley, eggs, etc. as indicated on the box. my secret was to freeze in loaf pans as they were perfect for two servings. if i win i'm definitely going to make this so i can just get to sewing this cute skirt.
ReplyDeleteDo you like spicy? The one thing I can make is a little out of the box, but tasty! Kung Pao Spaghetti! Recipe here: http://www.recipelink.com/cookbooks/1999/0688164668_3.html
ReplyDeleteNovice question, but can you freeze spaghetti and have it come out ok on the other end? Maybe you can just freeze the sauce, and bring some spaghetti noodles along.
Also, can you dry ice a calzone and send it my way? Thanks! :)
Why YES, Vanessa you can freeze pasta. So wonderfully well. Just under cook a little. Or I have done the "add the pasta" later. I'm just so darn versatile.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute cute pattern, I'm in! I would have commented sooner but grandma wasn't a good cook so I had to dig through mine and let's just say I cook better than I organize.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite recipes and my favorite thing to freeze is stuffed pasta shells. I use this recipe (http://www.barillaus.com/recipes/Stuffed_Shells_with_Cheese.aspx) but add about 1 lb of hamburger to the spaghetti sauce. We're carnivores over here and sauce without meat stashed somewhere is a crime- truly. It freezes great and the red sauce kind of matches your vampire theme, I know I'm grasping here ;o).
I'm not much of a cook, I'd rather be quilting or scrapbooking. But I found this super easy crock pot recipe for Tai Beef.
ReplyDeleteCut Steaks or roast into bite size chunks. Put into a crockpot with a small bag of baby carrots. Pour one bottle of Peanut sauce over them and cook on low for 6-8 hours. When done pour in a can of coconut milk and stir. Serve over cooked rice. May be a little spicey for wee ones.
That skirt idea is so clever! Charm squares are among my favourite things (ever), and i have 2 little girls, so...perfect!
ReplyDeleteRecipes...this site is great www.taste.com.au I think Australian measurements are different to yours though, so you might have to do some converting(1 cup is 250ml, 1 table spoon is 20ml).
P.S. Now that I look more closely at that site, it actually has a freezer-friendly section. Woo!

What a cute pattern!! I don't freeze too many meals, but with a new baby coming, I would like to start-I'll have to check back here for recipe ideas. In the meantime, here's one I found on a different website awhile ago, but haven't tried it yet....

cute outfit for girls. Now if there was more time to make them. Linda Gerig
ReplyDeletegreat fabrics, I often just make extra spagetti sauce and freeze it, makes for easy meals when needed. :)
ReplyDeleteguess I should have read the post better so I could give a tip on cooking. I have a great spaghetti pie recipe that could be made larger so could freeze a few to make later. Linda Gerig
ReplyDeleteI love to make chimichangas and freeze them I frequently take one out for lunch, let it thaw and spread a little soft margerine on the out side of the soft flour tortilla, than bake at 425 for 10-12 minutes. I serve it with salsa and sour cream and mexican rice. It is fab and my kids love it, amazing huh!
ReplyDeleteThe last two meals I have made are Steak and Kidney pie for my english guy, and pasta and cheese for my daughter. Not that inspiring, but I'm not an inspired cook. Love to sew though!
ReplyDeleteI love to make double batches of Turkey (or chicken) tettrazinni. Eat one, freeze one. Or in your case, give two away. Its yummy and freezes beautifully.
ReplyDeleteVery cute pattern... I love it. My freezer specialty is buying a huge pack,(or more than one) of side ribs, asking the butcher to slice it right down the middle for me (to resemble baby back ribs), cut the ribs into 3 bone pieces, boil the ribs for an hour with lotsa spices (whatever you prefer.. i use onions, garlic), the house will smell wonderful... when done cooking (about an hour on a slow rolling boil), allow to cool then package in ziploc bags in meal size portions. Anytime you need a quick meal, just pull out a bag, baste with lotsa bbq sauce while warming up on the bbq!! Voila. Yummy rib dinner. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the skillet sensations that you can get in the freezer aisle. They have everything in them and are super easy and quick to make. They are really tasty too. The patterns are super cute.
