Meg's getting married. No, you don't know her.
Her mum is my very good friend and barber/beautician. I came up with a fabulous idea, years ago, I will make you quilts/blocks/whatever your heart desires and you will cut my hair and the hairs of my precious family. (not to mention, perms, highlighting, coloring) Since I'm older and less brunette, my lovely bartering idea is going to keep me sewing for the Bergie's forEVER. And I couldn't be happier!!! Bring on the grandbabies, Meggie Poo.
Vic chose the perfect fabric for a perfect girl, Poetry Collection. It's just a simple "Just Can't Cut It" pattern, with a few subtractions and additions. Poetry Collection is on its way out. It won't be around forever. It used to be a Moda basic but not anymore. :( Get it while you can.
I left the label blank so mom could sign it. After all it is from HER. She sniffed a lot of perm fumes for this quilt..........

When you say it's a "Just Can't Cut it" pattern, is that a straight charms pattern, or is there more to it? I am a very beginning quilter, and kind of oldish getting started, so there's not a lot of creativity here, so any help I can get is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love bartering. Its just the best. Such a great idea and a darling darling quilt.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE to have that pattern. Your quilt is beautiful, as usual. :)
ReplyDeleteMumsy: "Just Can't Cut It" is the name of the pattern. It is not done with charms. I'm checking with Corrie to see if she has any more available. They are currently not in the store.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteyou are one smart woman.
ReplyDeleteWhat a totally fantastic idea! Last year I bartered with my hairdresser/friend for a half of beef. Yes, my children have given me numerous gray hairs-but quilts sound better. She deserves to have a quilt just for putting up with my various color changes through the year. I am like a camileon. Some slight variation of my color every 6 weeks is fun for me. Thanks for the wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to barter-especially for haircuts which can become very pricey...that quilt is fabulous and Meg sure looked like she loved it!
ReplyDeleteI would get more quilts done if I used patterns like this more! It's so stunning!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the tip - I need to stock up.
What a great present she received! Beautiful quilt for a bride to be. Smart of you to barter. Could that pattern be used with flannel do you think?
ReplyDeleteYes, this would be a great pattern for flannel. Nice big chunky chunks.
ReplyDeleteWow I wish I lived closer. I would barter with you for chiropractic adjustments. That's if you like going to a chiropractor. :) I sure love your quilts.
