UPDATE: Miranda! You win! Darla is coming your way!
Congratulations! Merry Early Christmas!
"... freshly laundered sheets hung on a clothes line,
begonias on a kitchen window sill,
tree swings, green grass, sweet iced tea, apple crisp with real whipped cream, clear blue skies, the kind you get just a few times a year where the air is so crystal clear and the sky that shade of blue that kind of makes your heart ache (in a happy way).
A happy, vibrant, crisp and rosy collection Darla will make beautiful aprons, tablecloths, quilts, pillows, pajamas, sundresses with a fresh and nostalgic flavor."
A friend stopped by today & picked up some Darla because, "You know in January after the holidays, when it's so blah, I want something pretty to work on, just for me."

Today's giveaway........ 4 fat quarters of Tanya Whelan's newest line of fabric.....yep, you got it.....
Darla.
We have yardage, fat quarters, and 5" charm square packs.
What would you make first?
Leave a comment & we'll have a random drawing for the winner later tonight.
Definitely an apron!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking along the same lines, and using your hotpad tutorial, I think I would make some groovy oven mitts! (although the apron thing would be cool too!) That fabric reminds me strongly of a quilt my mom gave me that my grandma had made a long time ago, very nice!!
ReplyDeletean apron...for me, me, me!!!
ReplyDeleteI've crafted and sewn, and baked and cooked...for everyone else I love...and loved doing it! I'd love to sit down at the new year and make a little sumpin' for me.
I love these fabrics - they're the nicest I've seen for ages. :-D
ReplyDeleteSo, what would I make? A quilt. My 2.5 year old will be getting her big girl's bed sometime after Christmas (although I am tempted to keep her trapped in the cot for a while longer...), so I would make something pretty and girly to go on top.
A "darla"in lap quilt for my sassy mom.
ReplyDeleteJanae'
This fabric line is so good looking...definetly need to have some in my stash.... so fresh!! :o)
ReplyDeleteAnd no..I would definetly make myself a happy quilt!!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing that came to my mind was: an apron...and then: a fun table topper...and some embellished dish towels {that would never be used, lol}...
That fabric looks so fresh, breezy, so perfectly spring-y ;o) - just perfect to make me smile after looking through the window and only seeing a GRAY city...
A happy quilt for my best friend would be an option too...endless possibilities...
Cheers, Julia
I *so* hope I win. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I'd make a kitchen set -- an apron, oven mitt and hot pad or maybe a flea market-style bag for the spring/summer. I need to see the fabric in person to know for sure.
By the way, have you gotten Mamma Mia? I bought the DVD yesterday at Wal-Mart -- the cheapest one -- no frills. What a blast!!
very pretty fabrics, oh my; the first that came to mind was one of those old fashion styled a clothespin little dress style holders to hang in my laundry room (actually its a hallway but room sounds better).
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of a little quilt too that would be adorable for a baby quilt.
A quilt, for me always a quilt. This fabric would be perfest for a sweet quilt for my 3 year old granddaughter who isn't a "baby" anymore.

Oh, what a beautiful line....A lap quilt to snuggle up in sounds wounderful
ReplyDeleteHi! I would definitely made summer pouches... These fabrics would be perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteI would make a little purse for my daughter. Cute fabric! valerieannn118atmsndotcom
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing a tabletopper...to drink coffee on at the morning sun window......I can see an apron too!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely! I'd make a bag for me!
ReplyDeletei know that i would not make anything out of it for some time & would place it near my sewing machine to look at because it is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow--let me think. I love your little aprons, and I think that's what I would work on first. As Christmas gifts for next year, maybe--this time of the year I swear I will get started earlier!
ReplyDeleteoh, i love this! it reminds me a little bit of the swell line which i LOVED. i'm collecting soft, feminie stuff like this for a little girlie quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love the colors! I would make a doll quilt for my daughter. I meant to make her one for Christmas, but just ran out of time. You know that old saying about the shoemaker's kids always going barefoot... :-)
ReplyDeleteHmm that would be a tough one, maybe some hot pads, or a tablecloth to replace the christmas one that will be put away..or an apron..or oh gosh so many options...I love the how cheerful the fabrics are...pick me pick me...please...hehe
ReplyDeleteWe need some spring here in NC. Rain and fog for days.
ReplyDeleteThat would make a really cute wallet or maybe a fabric bowl. Of course, that's not even considering the quilt choices one would have!
ReplyDeleteI would make an adorable bag with this fabric it's Purdy!
ReplyDeleteA tablr topper! so fesh and pretty
ReplyDeleteI think I'd make a table topper out these cute fabrics.

such pretty fabrics!!!
Maybe I could just "pet" them a bit before deciding? They are lovely....
ReplyDeleteI am thinking a pillowcase. Something bright and cheerful would definately bring sweet dreams! However, this fabric just screams apron too! So maybe I will just have to make both : )
ReplyDeleteHmmm... maybe some pretty hot pads for my mom's kitchen. That is what she is asking for, for Christmas. (I hope she doesn't read this).
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nancy - petting and admiring fabrics before deciding...although everyone seems to be on the right track with the apron idea...I just saw a tutorial for a fat quarter apron...
ReplyDeleteYour baskets are adorable! And Darla! I think I love Darla. I think some Darla pillows would be wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh my, that is gorgeous!!! I'm not sure what I'd make first, maybe some pillows for my sewing room or maybe an apron with matching oven mitts. One thing for sure, whatever I made would be for ME ME ME!! Rushing off to your fabric shop now to look at all the colors.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm...maybe an apron, maybe use it in a quilt? So pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be an apron. No, maybe a table runner. Then again maybe a lap quilt. Decisions, decisons, decisions. Yep, probably would have to go buy more Darla. Thanks for hosting such a neat giveaway and have a very merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI would make a pillowcase. I love pretty pillowcases. I'm certain it helps you sleep better! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful line, and so springy. You have a wise friend to make something with this in January.
ReplyDeleteI would probably make myself a new spring/summer tote with it. My second idea would be a twirly skirt for one of my daughters.
I think I would make an apron. I haven't made one yet and those fabrics would be perfect!
ReplyDeleteI am not sure what I would make first. Maybe an apron pieced. Linda Gerig
ReplyDeleteDarla, what a great name for a line. It says "sweet" to me. I love it. Maybe I'd make a baby quilt. I think that would be fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what I'd make, I'd probably use it for a quilt I'm making for my daughter
ReplyDeleteI just HAVE to get me some of Darla! It's so Cute! Pick Me!!!!
ReplyDeleteSusch a pretty line of fabrics, I'm leaning towards a quilt, where the fabrics could be seen and fondled constantly.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! I NEED this! That fabric is what I am doing my daughters room in!!
ReplyDeleteDestiny. Yep That is what it is.
Plus if you check my blog - you will see that I need this. Today. Right now. Maybe it will make me feel better?
If I got these fat quarters....
ReplyDeletefirst i would make myself
Happy :)
and then maybe....
a basket
It is beautful!!!
Oh, I'd LOVE those fat quarters...for exactly the reasons you mentioned...I'd love to make something fun and pretty for ME after Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI would make a whole kitchen of coordinating items: apron, hot pad and mitten, dress up some towels and whatever other ideas I could think of when I see this awesome fabric in person
ReplyDeleteOOOOH so pretty! A tablecloth would be gorgeous! But so would a cute apron!
ReplyDeleteI think a cute bag to throw my stuff in - something that reminds me of summer.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love this line!! I would make some of those adorable drawstring bags!
ReplyDeleteI would make an apron for myself. I've made an apron for everyone but myself and I could really use one. This fabric would make a beautiful aproin!

I think I would make aprons for my granddaughters!
ReplyDeleteI'd make a little tote bag!
ReplyDeleteDresses for my 4 year old, seeing as how I am STILL haveing to dress her in skirts! Apparently style before cold. Thank heaven for heavy knit tights!
ReplyDeleteOr a throw for the foot of her bed. Her room is (will be again once we move:) pinks, green, yellow blue and purple. Would be soo cute at the foot of her bed
dresden plate blocks...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE...LOVE....LOVE this fabric...Just looking at it
ReplyDeletebrightens my day!!
In the New Year I will be making quilts to donate to children in hospitals in memory of my grand daughter passing away a month ago. I think this fabric would be very cheerful for little ones..and for big ones too!
Thank you!! Love and Peace to All!!
I think it would be fun to make an apron as well-though it would be tempting to make a little patchwork skirt for my baby!
ReplyDeleteA quilt! An aporn and I'd have to cook. A hot pad- same thing. A quilt will keep me warm in freezing sunny California.
ReplyDeleteOh My Heart does ache for Darla, 4 fat quarters exactly! I would make a lovely January into February tablecloth for my 80 year old kitchen table! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI would either make a baby quilt or nice roomy purse for my mother who lives on a nice sunny island.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a cute collection

ReplyDeleteDeborah
Beautiful, would have to make up some 54/40 star blocks, they are my current favorite pattern.
ReplyDeleteI would dearly love to make pillows for my bed. Pretty pillows with embroidery on them and gorgeous fabrics.
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! I love the gingham with all those florals.
ReplyDeleteI would probably make yoyos first, just cause I love making yoyos, and then hmmm let's see - maybe a picture that would be a pot with flowers made from the yoyos.... something fun. Love the fabrics. LindaSonia
