Update: Enjoyed reading the stories. Thanks for sharing them. My daughter was complaining about her 'boy' name today. I guess she hears me on the phone a lot, "Umm, she's actually a girl." Oh well, sorry, I grew up with a 'boy' name too. I was named after a male friend of the family.???
Well, our winner #28, Emily, doesn't have a middle name. Maybe we should pick again :-).
She & her sisters do have a cool blog.
It's the first of the month.

Leave a comment about your middle name
(if you don't have one, what would you choose?).
Random drawing later tonight.
My middle name is Marie, same as my mum, grandmother, great grandmother, and so on! I love that it is a tradition in my family. Going to check out what pattern I would choose now!
ReplyDeleteMine is Elizabeth. I was called after my grandmother who was British. I love Elizabeth, not Liz.
ReplyDeleteIt means "of God"
I do not have a middle name. If i am to choose one myself. I would go for a shorter middle name.
ReplyDeleteSo i would be, let us see, Sharmila Ann. Yes we will call me Sharmila Ann!! if i were to have a middle name *giggles*
If i win this, it will really mean so much to me - to have a quilting magazine. But i would let you choose the mag - whichever you think would be the most informative to a newbie.
By the way, check my blog for i have now finished my very first applique project:)
As if having the most popular first name in the universe (at my particular age)...my parents also gave me an incredibly popular middle name...Lynn. My name certainly dates me I think.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Reyleen, which is actually what everyone called me until I went to college. My parents thought it suited me better after I was born, but they didn't want to change it to my first name. I tried to change to going by my first name when I started high school, but I went to high school with all the same people I went to jr. high with, so it didn't fly. My mother's middle name is Rey, so that's where it came from.
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough, I was just thinking "I wish I had more sewing magazines!"
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is a sad story. It was Ann. Amy Ann. This is what my mother called me in times of endearment. It was nice. It was embroidered on my pillowcase.
When I got married, I hadn't planned to change my name. I was keeping it as is. On the day, in a fit of excitement I took his last name and moved my old last name to my middle name. So now my middle name is Ryan, and Amy Ann is gone. My mom's gone too. No one calls me Amy Ann anymore.
I am embroidering Christmas stockings this year for Craig and I. Just this week, I put Amy Ann on mine! I'll mail you a picture if you like. I happened to take one today!
I sort of have two middle names-- the one my mom gave me, Jean (which was her mother's name) and my maiden name, Quick (that's what's on all my official documents).
ReplyDeleteGene is my middle name, well a shortened version of it. It is actually Eugene. I don't use my first name, never have, it is Dad's name. However the first name is on all the legal stuff. At the MD office they call me and sometimes, I don't realize it for this reason.
ReplyDeleteI'm only lurking in the "A Year of Schnibbles" currently. (Watching to see what everyone does!) So I don't think I'm contest eligible, but this sounded fun so I want to play anyway.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Lynne. My mom picked that because there is a tradition back 8 or 9 generations of all the girls having middle initials of L. Lynne was the only name she liked starting with L. She wanted to use Ruth instead. When she was pregnant with my sister she couldn't come up with another L she liked so she decided Elizabeth was close enough because of "Liz". My sister does use her middle name for a nickname but instead of Liz she is Izzy.
Since the tradition is now broken I won't feel bad if I have a girl and name her something that isn't an L.
My middle name is my maiden name...not many people out there who have the middle initial of U.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance.
My middle name is Elizabeth. My mother chose it because the priest would not baptize me by my first name, Bonney!
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Renate which led to being called tomato for a brief time in my childhood, don't think it left any emotional scars...
ReplyDeleteMine is Marie. I always liked it better than my first name, Shawna, when I was younger. It was too different! :) Now I like having a not so common first name!
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Suzanne, and I love it because it has a Z! how many people get to have a Z in their first and middle name? :) Thanks for the chance at the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Louise. My great grandma's name...and my daughters middle name also. Thanks, I'd love to win a pattern!
ReplyDeletebrina
blrohloff at aol dto com
My middle name is Carol...it is my mother's middle name...at least she didn't give me her first name...HAZEL....hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance at this awesome giveaway!!
My middle name is Charlotte, a name I wish was my first name. The story is that my mother wanted to name me Charlotte but my dad said if she did he would call me Charley, so it became my middle name. I would not have minded being called Charley, would have been fun.
ReplyDeleteSo I am stuck with a boring first name, such is life.
Sue Cahill (sbonetsue at yahoo dot com)
My name is Kelly and my middle name Nicole. Both irish to appease my grandmother because she really wasn't a fan of my mom. My birth and name was what smoothed things over between them. Oh the politics of family life!
ReplyDeleteThat is a gorgeous photo from Messy Karen! Middle name--Ann. Common but goes well with my long first name.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name at birth was Christy. My mom loved it and thought that I would have fun writing it when I got older. Now my middle name is Bourgeois, which is my maiden name. My new last name, Brown, was way to plain-jane for me, so I moved Christy out of the way for Bourgeois!
ReplyDeleteHm, I don't have one. But, if I get to chose, it would be Anastasia. Just love the aristrocatic sound of it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for another great giveaway.
There are so many pretty names, but if I had to choose a middle name it would be Elisabeth. I love that name :-)
ReplyDeleteMine is Hope- my parents had hoped for a child for years, and I was finally their miracle!
ReplyDeletecandy at fiber dot net
My middle name was Ann when I got married I made my middle name my maiden name-Cheney. Only 1 person in my family has no middle name. I do not have any of those patterns. I will be checking into that.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Elena, yes like Elena on Zorro :) Same as my moms middle name and now my daughter's as well
ReplyDeleteWell...without my middle name, I would be mistaken for a boy more often than I already am! How are you guys? -Michael Ann
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is short & sweet~ K ~I loved that I could just write the letter when I was growing up. :)
ReplyDeleteMy parents didn't give me a middle name. Family tradition is that all the girls would use their maiden name for a middle when married. I am the only one of my 3sisters to carry it on with my 2girls -- I am at least the 3rd if not 4th generation to be middle nameless. In HS my friends dubbed me Emily "Louise" but I didn't think it sounded so good.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Suzanne. Named from my mother Susan.
ReplyDeleteWhen it came time for census here in Canada, I wasn't home so my husband told them my middle name. It got spelled incorrectly and it's been that way on the voting ballots ever since then.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a middle name. Can you believe that? I still feel slighted about that. Oh well!
ReplyDeleteI would pick the "Cindy Lou Who" pattern. Thanks for the giveaway.

My current middle name is my maiden name -- given is Louise - which of course led to my Dad calling me Lindy Lou! A win would allow me to schnibble (again).
ReplyDeletemy middle name is SUE and it goes with Linda okay. lindagerig@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteMy name is Amanda Marie after my Grandmother, Anna Marie. I used to not like my middle name.. because it is so incredibly common. But I've learned to really like it. It's beautiful, and timeless. After my grandmother passed, I learned to like my name even more. It's wonderful to be able to carry a little bit of her with me.
ReplyDeleteOkay I can handle this one. Mine is Alice, as is my mom's middle name, and my dad's mom's first name
ReplyDeleteAlways hated it. (the Alice in Wonderland references...)
but I would love to win a pattern. It may make everything better.
My middle name is Marie, the most common middle name in the world. I like it though, it is after my sweet great grandmother whom I used to call "Old Nana" as a child, and she would gently smile and reply without complaining at all that I was calling her "Old".
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Ann - by birth that is. My sister's middle name is also Ann. (I don't know why mom ran out of names.) But...I dropped my middle name when I got married to my second (and last) husband. I changed my middle name to my maiden name as a way to hang on to who I am. I lost myself the first time around and now I am found. I am his wife...but still me.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Lyn, one n, which always gets people. The weird thing in my family, though, is that my paternal grandmother and my mother have the same first and middle name! The only saving grace is that my Grandmother remarried or they would have had the exact same name!
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Ellen, same as my mom's. And my husband calls me "L". Don't ask me!! Thanks for the giveaway...
ReplyDeleteI have the oh so common name of Marie for a middle name. I remember elongating my name to appear dramatic and wonderful, I chose: Michelle Marie ANTOINETTE. Doesn't that sound so good???? Oh well, Antoinette was not on my birth certificate...but I had a wonderful imagination.
ReplyDeleteAnn. That's technically my middle name. But my first name (Leigh) is so masculine (it comes from my uncle and my grandfather and I'm sure a few more generations) so I never use it alone. It's Leigh Ann or I won't answer.
ReplyDeleteI have no middle name, but if I could choose I would pick Rae, after my great-grandma.
ReplyDeleteMine is Marie. And I was my parents third child and third daughter, so when our first three children were girls, we gave the same middle name to our third daughter.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Michelle.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.

My middle name is Carol--named after a little girl that my mom met in elementary school and thought was very sweet. Years later she still remembered the little girl and her name and picked it for me!
ReplyDeleteI've got one of the standard names that are used for the middle name, it is Lynn.
ReplyDeleteMine is Elizabeth. Its a family name that has been around for generations. When I was younger I coulnd't say Elizabeth so i would say that my middle name was "little bit". As I got older my dad called me "lizzy butt" and thats where my blog name "Lizzy Post" comes from. My middle name and my married last name.
ReplyDeleteKinda funny that middle names is the topic. :)
So you would think that since my First name is so unique that my middle name would be unique or crazy right? {Buzz} WRONG! I have the most common middle name for girls. LYNN but it was my moms middle name also. Thanks for the great Giveaway. Hope all is well missing your posts this past few weeks!
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Erin. I really like my names.
ReplyDeleteAnn - 3 letters - sadly no e. My parents had 12 hours notice that they could adopt me and I think they thought oops we need a middle name and looked up and saw the name of the home. So that's it I was named for a home for as they called it then "wayward girls". My dad said at least they didn't get me from St Aloysius.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Raye, I don't really think about it too much, middle names kind of seem unnecessary! It's not "after" anyone either, just a random name lol
ReplyDeleteI don't have a middle name, my parents didn't believe girls should have one. I gave both my daughters a middle name. I don't know what I would choose but it would have to have double letters...to go with all the doubles in my name (maiden and married): Annette Robbins Scott. any ideas?
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Jean...Erica Jean. I can't help but say it with a southern accent. (No, we aren't from the south)
ReplyDeleteI can't say I've ever been fond of it...but it's fine enough.
My middle name is Laura, after my maternal grandmother. She loved to sew and always wore an apron.
ReplyDeleteMy mother always laughs at me because like Gramma my ironing board never get's put away either.
Gramma lived to be 100.
My middle name is Lynn, which is a plain name, and very common with other girls my age, but I like it. A lot of my friends in school hated their middle name, and I remember my cousin threatening to tell mine if I told hers, but I didn't care who knew. And, now, it is part of my graphic design logo.
ReplyDeleteI dont have middle name - I haven't been popular in Estonia.
ReplyDeleteBut I like name Riin :)
Iwould like to have MEADOWSWEET HOME quilt book pattern Need'l Love wool
egateris at gmail dot com
My middle name is after my maternal grandmother....her name is Katie so my middle name is Kaye. My paternal grandmother's name is Ann so my first name is Angelia.....don't know why they didn't name me Katie Ann except my paternal grandmother wanted her part to be first!! LOL
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your blog. It has become a favorite of mine!
My middle name is May.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt, and I love the photography with the apples! So fallish.
Genene is my middle name and my mother's given middle name, though it has been her legal first name for years. I like. :-)
ReplyDeletewell, my middle name is Lynn, but my last name is Lee, so people either think my middle name is Lee or my last name is Lynlee... so confusing.
ReplyDeleteLove your Cindy Lou Who!!! You're awesome! Hmmm... I'll play the name game... my middle name is Renee. When I got divorced I got to change my name, so I included my middle name to change to something that started with an R, because all of my kids have middle names that begin with R.
ReplyDeleteI'm cuban so I have a long middle name. It's Lourdes Maria de la Caridad. Yes, the whole thing is my middle name! I wouldn't change it for the world. I'd love to win the Frenchy Bag pattern! Good luck to me!
ReplyDeleteMine is "Jean" after my Aunt Jean. She was the "nice" aunt so I'm happy to have her name. Shopping for patterns....hmmmmm....so many choices!
ReplyDeletesagegrey@custertel.net
My middle name is also my maiden name. It used to be Ann, but "Beth Ann Workman" sounded a little too rhyme-y (NOT poetic!) So, I switched it. I really wish I had a longer first name, but that's another story!
ReplyDeleteI am the only child in my family who didn't get a middle name! What's up with that? I guess I would choose Mabel, after my grandma.
ReplyDeletekeels(at)mvdsl(dot)com
My middle name is Lee. It is my mom's middle name and I in turn names my daughter with that middle name!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a middle name. If I had one I would have something really whacky! I am Rachelle, so I think that I would chose Henrietta, my gorgeous great aunts name. Sadly she dies many years ago, but she is always with me in spirit. She was amazing!
ReplyDeleteIf I couldn't have Henrietta, then I would chose Hepsibah. We have a Hepsibah in our family tree in 180something.
How much fun would that be ...."pardon, how do you spell that!"
Rachelle x
Well being the youngest of 6, with 3 other girls in there, the middles names of the 50's all got used. Mine is Marie!
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is the same as my father's twin sister in TX -Jayne with a y. He'd tease me that I always wanted to know "why". LOL
ReplyDeleteLovely workwomanship by Karen.
Hello!, I don't have a middle name, but I'll choose Amber for sure, because I like brown shades, and I love of the colour from amber gems, I guess it fits me, please count me in your giveaway, I'd be thrilled if I win it!, thank you for the chance!
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Jane after my maternal grandmother who died 10 years before I was born. She was a quilter and I feel a profound connection to her since I've started quilting.
ReplyDeleteoh...my email is:
ReplyDeleteemily_jcp(at)hotmail(dot)com
My Middle name is Kay. This is from my maternal grandmother who my mom wanted to use her name as my middle name...it was Katie, but my grandmother didn't like her name, so she choose Kay, which she did like and I happen to love it since she was involved it my naming.
ReplyDeleteJill. Plain and simple, kinda boring, maybe that is why I go for the odd. :)
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Marie. So far I'm the 8th Marie... Robin Marie. I like it. I tried to drop it when I married and just make my maiden name my middle name but the thought made my mom cry so I didn't push it. Robin Marie Chapa is nicer than Robin Welch Chapa anyway.
ReplyDeleteSide note, my husband doesn't have a middle name... but his sister does. I think that's strange. So we used his name, Ryan, for our first born's middle name... Jason Ryan. What a fun thing to reflect on. Thanks for the fun giveaway!
Robin

My middle name is Catherine. With the first name of Mary, I am happy with this middle name which was for my godmother/aunt.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Mary, after my aunt. I've always liked the name Mary.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Louise. My parents went into the delivery room arguing over boy names because they were sure I was going to be a boy. When I turned out to be a girl, they had to quickly come up with a name. My first name is after my Great Aunt. My middle name is after my Great Grandmother Louise. I like me middle name so much, I kept it after I got married (instead of dropping it and making my maiden name my middle name) and I also gave it to one of my daughters as her middle name.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Claire. I was named after my Godmother who is very loving and caring.
ReplyDeleteMine is Nell which I have never used.
ReplyDeleteMy middle name is Babette. I have always gone by that. My first name is Windalyn. Not sure why my mom decided my middle name was what I would go by. Let me just say, the teacher calling attendance the first day of school was always fun.
ReplyDeleteHi I am new to this post but I will be back and will be adding you to my blog site listing! My middle name is different from all the others here--it is Lucille--i was named after the aunt that raised my mother--but I like the name because it reminds me of my all time favorite show--I Love Lucy--i did last months Schnibbles and even got it hand quilted--now to see if I can do the same for this month????? have a great day--hugs, Di
