Just arrived a few hours ago.

Uplifting? Well, the upside of the spring storm that has just passed was watching the little one (who is 3) sitting on the kitchen bench checking out the hail falling for the first time (that he can remember). It was our 3rd or 4th bout of the day. Snow on the hills even though we are nearly into Summer.
My uplifting comment: The sun is always shing. Sometimes it just plays hide and seek behind the clouds...

We currently have a seriously ill grandson, he is 6 1/2 months old, and has leukemia; you have to believe in something, don't you?
knowing that my daughter's surgery that she had tuesday morning went well, and that she is recovering well, she's only 7, so i was worried on how she would do!!

It's autumn here and the sky couldn't be bluer and I swear, I can smell apples in the air! The sun is peeking in windows that haven't seen it lately and you can just feel the changes coming. And they're good changes, too!

My husband works out of town, but has been out of a job since Feb. In the midst of our financial mess, I was thinking just how much I love the fall and how grateful I am to have him home right now! Just making lemonade...
well I had a good nights sleep last night and feel really rested. that may be my uplifting message for today. I may get to go home for the day also so that will be good. after five and a half weeks in the hospital with my son hopefully we will be going home soon. My grandmother turned 85 on Sunday!
My nine year old daughter is gearing up for a few Halloween parties. She herself is making chocolate covered pretzel treats for friends and teachers. It touches me greatly that this little girl has such a big heart for those around her.

Our church had a "yardsale" last Saturday. The cool thing was, we gave everything away! There were lots of God stories and tears I hear ( I was holding babies while some of the members worked the sale). People tried to insist we take their money. There was one family that was going to yardsales trying to replace everything they lost in a tornado. They left with a bed, couch and washer I think. WOW, what a day.
It is wonderful to have children that let you sleep in on a school day because they said they know you are tired! Children are an amazing gift and I am so lucky to have four!

One of the greatest things is teaching your kids to say thank you! That way you can hear your 2.5 year old say "tanks mommy" whenever you do something for him. That brightens my day...ALL day!!!
I'm celebrating life today! My precious baby is 5 years old today! (Don't tell him I called him the baby!) He is, unfortunately, sick on the couch today, but I'm so thankful for his presence in our family!

This morning I was taking a walk at a nearby lake and I was listening to some beautiful music on my ipod and the sky was blue and the trees and leaves were all yellow and red and everything was golden - and there were ducks splashing in the water below, then a heron flew by me and I thought that it's little moments like these that make life so good.
The joy of the Lord is my strength.
Can't get much more uplifting than that!

I am learning how to be more positive. Having a baby in the house again gives me the opportunity to do that.
They thrive on love and patience. No matter how tired you are, or how hard your day was, that toothless grin and the outstretched arms make everything okay.
And I know life is good.
Life is amazing- sometimes you just have to look hard to see it! Loving the fabric!!
Joy. Not just at Christmas, but every day. Even in the midst of sadness (my sister-in-law is being taken off the respirator, that is keeping breath in her, today) there are joys to be grasped and hugged to the heart... Salvation, burnt-orange leaves that sway to the unseen wind's beat, a kiss hello from a husband who's been at work all day, a birthday package that shouts, "Surprise!" you when you open the mailbox door, a fall magazine, a recipe that actually turns out yummy, chocolate cake with ice-cold milk, and more! Life is full of joys. Look for them, grab them like the brass ring on an old-fashioned carousel, and a smile on your heart will be the prize!
Oh, love it- so purttty!! One of my favorite life sayings is "Don't wait for the storm to pass- DANCE IN THE RAIN!!" It makes me smile :)

I work with kids in a school. I just love helping them to understand a concept and seeing the flash in their eyes when they get it! So exciting.

I was complimenting a group of first graders on their patience today, and it occurred to me to ask them what patience was. They had a hard time defining it, and as I explained it to them and watched their little heads bobbing up and down in understanding, it was good to repeat to MYSELF what patience is and why it is a good thing.

It has made me think of the small things in life that matter. Human suffering, human dignity and human kindness. soo beautiful!! Fall is here in full force in OR and it just makes me think of the upcoming holidays and family. I am so blessed to have such a loving family who is so supportive (both my church family and my actual family).
As long as we are trying, we're not failing.
I was lamenting to my friend the other day about the uncleanly state of my house, and how three small children can completely destroy a home. She e-mailed me back and her post said something the effect- The finger prints get higher and higher and then they disappear. It struck home to me. I will be sad when they disappear. So my messy house is not so disheartening anymore. Great give-away!

Enjoy the simple things. I know this saying is a bit overused but it is true. I say enjoy your children, the smell of a newborn baby, hangdrying the laundry, flowers in spring, coloured leaves in the fall, playing boardgames with your kids. I'm sure you get what I'm saying... :-)

My theme for the winter is "Be what you want to see" and I think this applies to all aspects of our lives. If you want there to be love and happiness around you- then BE the love and happiness. It will surely spread. If you want there to be light and sunshine (important for us up yonder in the arctic)- then be the light and sunshine for others. The great thing about this theme is that it allows me to grow and step outside of myself to share myself with others. In so doing, I make myself happier and my outlook on life cheerful and optimistic and just better! So be what you want to see (taken from Ghandi's quote of "be the change you want to see"). ENJOY!

It may be cliche, but I remember that life is a gift from God. Even these crazy days of parenting a 2 1/2 year old and an 11 month old will be sorely missed in the future. So I try to make the most of it!

uplifting...hmmm. kinda tough, i lost a loved one last week, but here goes...
Everyday I get to wake up to my 2yr old daughter being crazy and hyper...and it just makes me think of everything I have in this wold to live for! Family is EVERYTHING!!
