Rouenneries ~ Giveaway over

Giveaway update: Congrats to Joanna #53 wilde medley.
Just need to figure out what you won :-). bon nuit.
Rouenneries by french general

Makes me want to sit in sidewalk cafe' and drink it all in.

Just arrived a few hours ago.

It's listed in the eBay store & some on etsy.

"Rouenneries were the cotton prints printed in Rouen, France during the mid-18th century. The designs are based on a collection of old prints and stripes from this era."

Mais oui

Tres Belle

It's stunning. The linens are beautiful as are all of the pieces.

Today's giveaway...not sure yet, I haven't got to work with it.

It'll be my choice -- a charm pack or fat quarters or something good. Trust me.

The french general would never let you down.

Leave an uplifting comment about life in general.

Des & I were at a school meeting last night (she was actually presenting -- ideas for motivating yourself and working with children.) It's so helpful to recharge and remember why you're doing what you're doing.

Random drawing later tonight. Make sure you've got an email we can contact.

Uplifting? Well, the upside of the spring storm that has just passed was watching the little one (who is 3) sitting on the kitchen bench checking out the hail falling for the first time (that he can remember). It was our 3rd or 4th bout of the day. Snow on the hills even though we are nearly into Summer.

Love the fabrics. The colors are gorgeous.

Our church had a "yardsale" last Saturday. The cool thing was, we gave everything away! There were lots of God stories and tears I hear ( I was holding babies while some of the members worked the sale). People tried to insist we take their money. There was one family that was going to yardsales trying to replace everything they lost in a tornado. They left with a bed, couch and washer I think. WOW, what a day.

Joy. Not just at Christmas, but every day. Even in the midst of sadness (my sister-in-law is being taken off the respirator, that is keeping breath in her, today) there are joys to be grasped and hugged to the heart... Salvation, burnt-orange leaves that sway to the unseen wind's beat, a kiss hello from a husband who's been at work all day, a birthday package that shouts, "Surprise!" you when you open the mailbox door, a fall magazine, a recipe that actually turns out yummy, chocolate cake with ice-cold milk, and more! Life is full of joys. Look for them, grab them like the brass ring on an old-fashioned carousel, and a smile on your heart will be the prize!

If fabrics represent life, Rouenneries are the beautiful, elegant, rich moments that we have in our lives. Some fabrics are chaotic and bright, but Rouenneries are from a gentler time when life included manners and standards of right and wrong. Remember those days?

Perspective is key to happiness. The worst day at work is always forgotten when my son smiles at me and says he missed me during the day and we brainstorm over dinner and eat as a family with my husband. Work is just work. No one every says they wish they'd worked more on their deathbed. Make the most of life. Keep the perspective.

Good morning. Please do enter me in your give away. As for an uplifting statement. I have been sitting with my 95 year old grandmother evenings in the hospital. It has made me think of the small things in life that matter. Human suffering, human dignity and human kindness. In our daily routine if we think of these things as we go through our routines the world would be a better place. Think of these things with a smile on your face.

My theme for the winter is "Be what you want to see" and I think this applies to all aspects of our lives. If you want there to be love and happiness around you- then BE the love and happiness. It will surely spread. If you want there to be light and sunshine (important for us up yonder in the arctic)- then be the light and sunshine for others. The great thing about this theme is that it allows me to grow and step outside of myself to share myself with others. In so doing, I make myself happier and my outlook on life cheerful and optimistic and just better! So be what you want to see (taken from Ghandi's quote of "be the change you want to see"). ENJOY!
