Update: Congrats to #27 ~ Sue. Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas.
Now it's time to hit the treadmill -- well, maybe in a couple of days.
Twas the Night Before Christmas
and all through the shop,
we are humming,
we are wrapping
and licking lollipops.
(hey, it's hard to find a word that rhymes with taffy)
Today's giveaway is a Christmas surprise.
Hint: I think it's a turnover & a charm pack.
My favorite gift would be to have my husband here for Christmas. He is in Jordan and cannot make it home in time. He made it to Milan but the weather stopped any flights to the US, so he headed back to Jordan. He will hopefully be finished with this job there and be home in January. Other than that my favorite gift would be MORE FABRIC!!! I love it, need it and have to have it! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas. Warm hugs all around.
ReplyDeleteI'm not first am I..? eeeek..... Love your photos and thanks for the generous giveaway and a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gifts are those that people have put thought into. When they really get something I would like. It does not need to be expensive. I still have an ashtray my little one made a nursery school. Not only did he make it (clearly instructed to of course), he also thought about a use (not being a smoker, he turned it into 'a dish to keep your earrings in') and he made sure to use my favourite colours. Now THAT is worth more than the most expensive thoughtlessly bought gift.
Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteMy best present ever was finding out the first part of December, 6 years ago, that I was getting to be a Mom! Can't beat that:)
A favorite gift would have to have been the year my then-boyfriend, now-husband gave me tickets to come see him for the next summer (we were dating long-distance - not fun!)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gifts are handmade,
ReplyDeleteI know the amount of work that goes into handmade items and I am always truly grateful to receive a
gift like this.
Merry christmas
My favorite gift was a cute doll my parents gave me when I was a child. Aww good times :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance.
And Happy Holidays!
Hi. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteThis years greatest gift for me are that we are celebrating Christmas all together the whole family. I even got the most beautifull grand daugther and a little new baby are to be born in Mach.
Hugs from Norway.
My favorite gift was when I was a teen in the 80's - I wanted a VCR more than anything, we seemed to be the last people on the planet to have one and it was the ONLY thing I wanted. My single mom had been injured on the job as a nurse and unable to work all year, so things were beyond tight. I was 16 and paying our rent with babysitting money.
ReplyDeleteChristmas morning came and she had 2 presents under the tree for me. A lightweight summer top she'd found on clearance dirt cheap, and a candy bar. I watched as she opened the warm pajamas, socks and mittens I'd bought for her thanks to some extra babysitting hours I'd gotten. . . And that was our Christmas.
Or so I thought.
As we were cleaning up the tiny mess of wrappings, she told me to look under the table we had our little tree sitting on. It was covered, so nothing could be seen underneath it.
I lifted up the cloth, and there was a large rectangle box. It was a VCR. One my aunt had waited in line for 6 hours to get on Black Friday at a doorbuster sale. My aunts, uncles and grandmother had all chipped in to help pay for it.
It seems silly now - VCRs are worthless, in fact we just donated our last one to Goodwill a few days ago. But it meant a lot then.
It was also the only time my mom was ever able to truly surprise me!
my favorite will be a sewing machine
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway
and happy holiday
My favorite gift would be to receive today in my French house the fabulous fabric sold by Connie !!! this would be of course just a small gift but so nice !!! Merry Xmas to everybody in USA. Michèle from Bordeaux-Gradignan.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gifts are the now worn and tattered ornaments that were made by my children in pre-school and early grades - hand prints on colored paper, pinecones, pipe cleaner angels...
ReplyDeleteI love getting pretty ornaments for my Christmas tree as gifts. Each year, as I unpack them and decorate the tree, I remember the person who gave them to me.
ReplyDeleteGosh my favorite gifts to give are ones I have made - such as the letters I just made my youngest niece. Her little brother loves them too - fun to hear him say "O" and "Y". Quilts rank high on my list of things to give.
ReplyDeleteAnd one of my favorite gifts I have received is a knitted pillow from my niece Suzanne.
This year I did stockings at work (small!!) - about 40. And they hang outside my office. One older gentleman just kept walking by and touching his stocking. I refill the candy if they eat it but he kept saying "its not Christmas yet", so his candy and toy remained in the stocking (love Oriental Trading for a place to get stocking stuffers!).
Just another lesson that a little can go a long way!
My favorite gift is usually whatever my husband gives me. He is an excellent shopper. :)
ReplyDeleteJane
My favorite gift is a small snow globe my youngest son made in elementary school. He is now 20, I still have it, the water has since evaporated but the little snowman he made out of clay still stands inside and is as cute as ever
ReplyDeleteFav gift -my little dollhouse made of tin. I so wish I still had that little dollhouse. Thanks for the giveaway. Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteHow about "daffy?" A daffy Taffy holiday? Thanks once again for being so generous.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift ever was the pogo stick I got when I was 5 or 6 - no material gift ever gave me so much joy. I tried to beat the world record for hops but I never came close, it's an impressive number! I sure had fun trying though. This year I look forward to stitchy things and time with my extended family instead of hopping. Hope you get your wishes this year too.
The favorite gift I am giving this year is a Teddy Bear for my daughter. I have a feeling no matter how old she gets she will always love Teddy Bears. She collects Charlie bears from the UK. The one this year is pretty special. I can't wait until she opens it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is redoing the bathroom and painted the trim in our room this year, and that is my favorite gift! Our room was sky blue, but we didn't get to paint the trim before we moved it. It was this greenish teal color, which just looked bad with blue!! Now it is white and I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love your giveaways, you always get people to make the nicest comments!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift.... I think it was the year a girlfriend gave me some tiny crystal stemware that I had admired in an antique shop. Dainty little stems with etched flowers on their little round bowls, I just love those things.
Thanks for the chance to win and Merry Christmas to everyone!
My favorite gift has to be the time my dear hubby surprised me and bought a Bernina for me! Talk about surprise! But the best gift of all is the gift that God sent on Christmas morn for all of mankind :-) Merry Christmas to all of you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift is simply my amazing beautiful children. i am so thankful for each of them.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this terrific giveaway.
Warm wishes and blessings on the new year.
My favorite gift was from my brother 11 years ago. I was separated from my first husband and went overseas to just get away and stay with my brother and his family. After all the presents were given out, he gave his children envelopes that were on the tree - inside were year passes to the local theme park. I thought that was a great gift for them! Then he handed me one too - I was so touched, especially because he's a real cheap skate lol!! He's the best:)
ReplyDeletehubby and I just exchanged our gifts to eachother last night.
ReplyDeleteHe bought me the best gift.
he had a photo of my father (he passed away almost 2 years ago) cleaned up and enlarged so it's just him in the photo and framed beautifully. I love it!
Hubby really hit it out of the park this year.
Merry Christmas!
5 years ago I found out I was pregnant after a long ordeal getting to that point...found out on Christmas eve and I think that is the best present ever! Merry Christmas ladies!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift is one that I said "I don't want one of those" LOL
ReplyDeleteIt was my first iPod. I didn't like the idea that it was proprietary.
Guess what, I love it AND it really got me into a walking routine because I could listen to audiobooks, podcasts and music EASILY while I walk.
It almost got returned by the giver when I stated that I didn't want one....but it was engraved and non-returnable. Thank Goodness! It was a WONDERFUL surprise that is still going and serving a purpose. (and I am in better shape- I lost weight!)
My favorite gift as a child was a Chatty Cathy doll, I wanted her in the worst way. My parents normally didn't give those kinds of gifts. They were into "educational" toys. I loved thta doll but in the spring my younger brother took her outside and left he rin the rain and she was ruined. So Sad.
ReplyDeleteSue Cahill (sbonetsue at yahoo dot com)
I agree with the reader who said her best Christmas presents were always the ones from the kids that they made--I still have all the homemade ornaments, and hang them on the tree every year. But a close second was this year when my husband bought me a walking foot. I can say this to you guys, because you know how thrilled I was!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift was the dollhouse my dad made out of a bookcase...there was so much love and detail put into it including lights and I played with it for years. My husband made houses for my daughters when they were little and they were their best gifts too.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
The best gift ever is my sister coming home from NYC for 3 days for us to celebrate together! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletemy fave gift is my family, they truly are a gift, and every day I am grateful for their health, and love. Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely giveaway. I was going to say my favorite gift was the bicycle I got when I was 10 but after thinking about it some more I have to say having all my children home together under one roof is the best gift of all. It doesn't happen every year as there are in-laws to share the children with but it's hilarious and wonderful and yes, exhausting when they're all here. Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite gifts are always those where I can tell that the giver was really thinking about me when they got it/made it. My boyfriend once bought me two yards of fabric that he knew I loved, and my Mum (last year) go me a book I really wanted, started up a correspondence with the author, ended up sending the book to the author and getting it signed, and the author sent along a bunch of extra stuff for me when she sent it back - very cool!
ReplyDeleteI think this year I'm going to get some great gifts from my Mum because a couple of days ago when we were talking about Christmas presents, she said "I know more about quilting now than I ever needed to". We'll see what happens!
I would have to say that the best Christmas will be this year as I had surgery last Friday and I am now home to celebrate with my family. We are raising 3 grandchildren and another boy so we have us a small family and enjoy being together.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas gift was my first born son. He was born on the 19th...a bit early, but he was healthy and we were able to bring him right home from the hospital, despite a few complications.
ReplyDeleteFor me, its the janome 6500 i gifted myself last year. without this, i cannot imagine creating so many quilts. thank you for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy very favorite, from years past was the trip that we took in 2007 throughout the month of December, from "home" in Germany to "HOME" to visit family and friends, Stateside. We were able to spend precious time with Grammy, who passed the following April, good friends, and it was relaxing in many many ways! The trip functioned as our gift to each other, even though the children were given other gifts.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I have a favorite gift, especially with my birthday being just a month after Christmas, they all kinda get mixed up as to which was which.
ReplyDeleteI love any that thought and effort went in to. They just mean so much, even if the actual gift wasn't much.
Well, my dh was offered a job last week after months of searching. Merry Christmas to us!!
ReplyDeleteOne year my husband gave me a necklace with little people on it representing my 6 children. He had it wrapped in a huge box. Each person was attached to a long string. I pulled each child out one at a time. It was so fun.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Christmas gift this year is a copy of 'A Stitch in Time' by Rosalie Quinlan (Australian Designer) - and it's signed too! I can't wait to make some of the gorgeous creations in it.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas
Janelle xx
My favorite gift is to just have the family all together - sharing good food and lots of memories! :)And always the gift of fabric is nice! Love, love, love it!:) Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your families!!!
Fabric is always a favorite gift. Thanks for the chance and Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletemy favorite gift is that my mom came to spend Christmas with me and my family
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift has been the same for the past 12 years. It's on eof those sentimental things, and it's actually not even a "thing". It's watching my kids (and hubby) open their presents- it's way better than anything I could buy for myself :)!! Merry Christmas Eve!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift is anything hand made either a card or a poem or a picture or an ornament, something from the heart.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and thanks for the giveaway. Fabric is always a great gift too!
Juat having the family all together during Christmas and watching the little ones eyes light up as they open each gift.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift is my son's hand prints on paper (he made it in preschool).
ReplyDeleteStephanie@eyeballgirl.com
Christmas is sort of my favorite time of year. I love to decorate, sew and bake for the holidays. Now my significant other's family all get together for dinner and it is wonderful to share our love with the family.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays and thanks for the chance to win more fabric! LOL
The best gifts are always the ones that have been given special thougt by the giver. I don't necessarily think it has to be something tangible, just thoughtful.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young I always loved coloring books, pencils, paints, crayons. Those geometric shapes coloring books were my favorite.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!!!
Fabric and sewint related items (buttons, trims, etc...) are always a favorite for me. Although I wouldn't mind getting some "time" this year... Not much likely, though!
ReplyDeleteMerry Xmas everyone!!
Contact:librosfera(at)gmail(dot)com
Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift of all time was a barber shop doll head. You know, where it was mostly a bust and you could fix her hair.
My gift this year is having Christmas with just my little family of 4;)
My favorite gift was the Christmas my daughter was conceived. She has given me more pleasure than anything else. Merry Christmas everyone!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gifts are always the ones I give. I have made several quilts this year and can't wait to see their expressions when they open them.
ReplyDeleteMy DH actually went to a local shop and bought some quilty gifts for me~ without any hints from me! That was a surprise gift. :-) Merry Christmas eve to all!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite present was this year--the treadmill I've been wanting for 3 years! Merry Christmas to you!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift was when I was about 8 years old and my parents gave us a puppy. We had begged for a dog for so long and the answer was always no. So it was an incredible surprise when we woke up Christmas morning and went down to the tree and under the tree was a black puppy with a red bow tied around her neck! I will never forget the joy we felt that Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, my dad was laid off for the winter (he worked construction). Money was tight! My mother made my 3 dolls coordinating outfits, a fabric Moses basket, and a doll sweatshirt out of my older sister's high school sweatshirt (early upcycling!) I still have those clothes and the basket. I treasure them and remember that Christmas and those gifts the most from my childhood. My mother remembers feeling so badly for having to make gifts for Christmas, but it inspired me for a lifetime. For the past few years all of my gifts have been handmade.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
My favorite gift was a dust pan from my daughter when she was 5 years old. She thought it out carefully from a comment I made while cleaning one day, was dropped off at the store by her dad and took care of the shopping herself. She is now a mother, but I've kept and treasured that precious dust pan.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gifts are home made and crafting books. Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteWe don't focus alot on gifts at Christmas and this year we only gave gifts to our kids not each other. (Is that weird?) My favourite gift when my husband and I were dating was a sewing machine.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift would have to be my first born son, born just before Christmas! He just turned 3 and I am thankful for every day I have been able to be his mommy! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
hmscott@charter.net
I don't really remember my favourite gifts! I guess that means we really celebrated Christmas the way it should be: about Christ and family, not what's in the wrapping paper.
ReplyDeleteI would love some fabric though - cause sometimes it's still nice to have something in wrapping paper too!
ltenhage@gmail.com
My favorite gift as a girl was a canopy bed when I was 7. My parents did not let me in my room all day long on Christmas Eve...after our family get together (we celebrated at my Aunt's house) I ran into my room, there it was, out of the JC Penney Catalog, a beautiful creme canopy bed with my FAVORITE color yellow bedspread and canopy!! Also was a new night gown drapped across it!! Yippee!! (years later the canopy was broken from me and my brothers trying to hang off it, OOPS) :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift was from a good friend of mine, I had mentioned months before that I would love to get Anne Frank's Diary to re-read it, as I had read it once in school. I got it for Christmas, and was amazed that my pal remembered that random comment from months before!! THanks for the giveaway, Merry Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteA favorite gift? Hmm I think that would be my very own sewing machine a few Christmases ago. It is so nice not having to go borrow my mom's all the time!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift is under the tree this year....a new sewing machine!!! Horay!!! My husband was gone to Iraq the last 2 out of 3 years and this year he wanted to get me something really special....I told him having him home this year was all I needed!! But, not good enough for him, so he took me shopping and now I can hardly wait to set it up !!! Merry Christmas to ALL...
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift - has to be having my family with me each Christmas and watching the kids. I love that. I don't need anything else on Christmas morning. So of course, winning some fabric from Quilt Taffy after Christmas morning would be WONDERFUL! ;)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas girls!
my favorite Christmas gift is being able to visit our families out west. Since we live in AL we don't get to fly out very often because of how expensive it is now that we require 4 plane tickets!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift was a few years ago when my Mom had a bracelet made for me out of some rocks my Grandpa (who has passed away) had polished in his rock polisher. It is so pretty! The rocks are black and the beads are silver. I treasure it. Merry Christmas and thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas gift was a ticket to see NSYNC in concert back when they were so popular. My friend's mom bought her a ticket so we could go together, and she called me as soon as she opened her tickets. The only problem was that I hadn't opened mine yet, so she kind of killed the surprise.
ReplyDeleteMy fave gift was one my grandpa gave to me: a cute drawer, it was a little while ago, and I'll forever have it with me!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband surprised me with a laptop last year. That was so exciting because I didn't know I was getting it and at the time I had to spend most of my days in my back chair because my back was so bad. It was a very thoughtful gift.
ReplyDeleteLast year, DH surprised me with a Featherweight that I had been foaming at the mouth for! This year he did it again, with a Juki TL98Q! He says he loves to hear the sound of my machines humming...How can you not love a guy like that?
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and have a safe holiday!
Last year my hubby got some extra hours at work and handed the cheque to me to buy a serger - that was a pretty nice gift.
ReplyDeleteHow kind of you to have a giveaway on Chritmas Eve. The best gift I ever got was a little blue car that you used your feet to pedal. I loved that car and took my dolls for rides all the time! Oh yes, I was five, but I would still enjoy it now!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my Goodness, Have a wonderful Holiday and thank you for a wonderful blog and all you do for us. You are both wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift would have to be,
ReplyDeletethe one that isn't wrapped under the tree.
It's simply a gift that can't be given,
but it's one that I've hoped for and have daily striven.
It's perfection and holiness all wrapped up in one,
and it's something I've found that can never be done,
by man or woman or innocent child,
but only by Emmanuel-meek and mild.
Asleep on the breast of His mothers He lays,
not yet grown into the name The Ancient of Days.
Come to this earth on a hushed Christmas morn,
unto all humanity-a Savior is born.
Merry Christmas to all those in your family. His richest blessings and gifts shining bright for 2010!
My favourite gift would be having ALL my family present with us. They are scattered over Canada. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all .
ReplyDeleteThis is a tough question- I think having the family together and hearing from the ones who can't make it. One year my Dh gave me a sewing cabinet for my portable sewing machine that I really loved. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHi
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
My favorite gift is the last gift my daughter gave me before she passed away. A rocking chair.
It sits in my living room, dosn't match the rest of the furniture, but, I don't care. She was so excited about giving it to us, she didn't care if she opened any of her gifts.
My favorite gift was when my parents surprised me with handmade heirloom items. My dad made a cedar hope chest and my mom knitted baby clothes.
ReplyDeleteLast year my mom gave me a kitchen sink! My husband and I had a crappy old sink in the home be bought, so she got us a new one. Then we installed it ourselves, adding to the joy of the gift! Merry Christmas to everyone, best wishes for the new year.
ReplyDeleteMy first Barbie doll. There wasn't much left over after needed bills when i was growing up, nad it was a huge treat to finally get a Barbie! Only a few years after I'd stopped playing with them, but it was thoughtful that they had remembered and made it happen when they could.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift is to have family home for Christmas. The food, fun and laughter in the house, ah, nothing like it. Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift i am sure will be the picture drawn by my 11 year old son. This year he didn't have any money to spend so he has been sketching pictures of jets, cars, dogs or whatever else he knows is your favorite. He asked me for a picture of my favorite quilt...so I am so excited to see what he came up with. What an awesome kid I have!!
ReplyDeleteHave a merry christmas!
Angie

My favorite gift was a pretty necklace charm that my husband gave me last year. My husband always thinks the things he gets are too simple, but I love it because I know he thinks a lot about what he is giving to me and that means more.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift was a little stuffed bird from my son. He was about 5 and saw this birdie at the Hallmark store. He thought I should have it. I still have it, in my classroom. It sits in a 6 foot tall felt tree that I made for my classroom. I don't think he remembers, but I remember his little hands giving me that bird. Thanks for the Christmas Eve giveaway! You both are so generous and funny. Your blog is part of my every day. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Deborah
P.S. I got 10 passes to Disneyland for Christmas from students!

My favorite gift was the totally unexpected serger my husband gave me last year.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
I have had many favorite gifts over the years. Does it have to be a Christmas gift? At my baby shower, my mom wrapped up all of these handmade baby blankets from her shower years ago. I loved it.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite gift was my Bernina 640 three years ago from my dear hubby. It was a complete SURPRISE!! What a thrill! Merry Christmas, everyone!!!!! Polly
ReplyDeleteMy first NEW sewing machine is my favorite! Can not wait to break it in. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
My favorite gift we're giving this year is calendars with pictures of our family, etc.
ReplyDeleteMy Favourite gifts are from those who have given a lot of thought to what I would really like. Preferably Patchwork related :-) with a touch of their persanility added to the mix.
ReplyDeleteWishing you all a Wonderful Christmas filled with fun and laughter enjoyed with Family and friends
My favorite Christmas gifts were an art set and a Toni doll when I was 10. My dad had passed away in August, we moved to town from a farm and I had asked Mama if Santa was real. And, she answered, no. I was so mad at her for telling me the truth :-). We spent Christmas at my aunt's home and on Christmas morning awakened early..but still before my young cousin. Mama told me to stay in bed until he woke up when I could pretend about Santa with him. Obviously I went back to sleep, but I swore I'd been awake the whole time. And yet, when my cousin came running into the room, I found the art set and a Toni doll sitting on my suitcase. It just had to be Santa! By the next year I had adjusted to the new reality, but I am still grateful to Santa for giving me one more year.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas girls...thanks for always being there with just what I need :-) Although now I NEED to find those red and aqua lollies! ack! Enjoy the day.
ReplyDeletejen
Happy Christmas!! My favorite gift this year was actually being able to surprise my husband for the first time with his gift. I finally made him a quilt.
ReplyDeleteEven your shop looks so festive. Merry Christmas to you. I was thinking laughy would rhyme with taffy, even if it isn't a word. My favorite gift was raffle tickets.
ReplyDeleteI hope that I can still enter this little giveaway, even though you generally choose a winner before now. Hope that your Christmas was merry and bright!

ReplyDelete
