  1. Beautiful. I sure love the colors/patterns of this bunch!
I am not a fan of parades. My husband, however, LOVES parades. Even on tv. I just don't get it. Maybe I'm not "kid-at-heart" enough?

  2. Oh my - would I LOVE to win? YES PLEASE......... Parades don't "speak" to me - not sure that I get "the idea".

  3. We live in New Orleans & our whole family loves Mardi Gras parades! First of all: the news NEVER shows real Mardi Gras... they show the crazed drunken college kids the locals all avoid. The real parades are very family friendly. And, it's not just fun to watch -- they throw you beads, stuffed animals, cups, and random other junk. Sure, it's junk that we all eventually give to Goodwill, but it makes the parade more fun! :) Thanks for the chance to enter!

  5. Such cute fabric and my best parade was the first one we attended here in Victoria about 4 years ago. It was just cool to see all the bands and their costumes. Back on the Prairies you don't see that type of content.

  6. Some very pretty prints in the Rose Parade collection! I'm not such a big fan of parades at this point as they can be difficult to enjoy with having many young children in our family.

  7. one of my favourite memories of childhood is watching the "trooping of the colour" (ie The Queen of England) with my Grandma. The english really know how to do a great formal parade.

  10. Just read the comment by Charlotte about the English do a great formal parade, yes I think we do! the one on Armistice Day is always worth watching, and the Lord Mayors parade in London is good too. We have religious parades here (in France) for different events the children all get involved and dress up - sometimes they are at night and everyone has a candle - really enjoy watching them.

  14. Here in Spain, parades are not that usual, the closest might be the 3 Holy Kings parade the 6th of January. The fabric is beautiful, the roses on the terrasse will soon bloom as well.

  15. DH and I have marched in so many parades (marching band)that we are not so interested in going to view parades now. Our podunk town has a 4th of July parade and we have never taken our kids to it. Dh, before he was my dh, and I slept in the gutter in Pasadena to watch the Tournament of Roses parade one year. We thought the view was better on tv.
This Rose Parade fabric is GORGEOUS! Reminds me of Cathy Kidston.

  26. I loved the Memorial Day parades. When I was young I remember the thrill of marching in them as a Girl Scout. We'd go right through the "down town" and end at the local graveyard. The high school band would be playing, the mayor and local officials would be in the latest convertibles, and construction vehicles would round out the procession. Lots of smiles!

  28. My dad is a clown in the Shrine and rides a child sized 4-wheeler in community parades. I do believe he has more fun than the children he is entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I was in a parade once as a dancer. We had to stop and do a bit of the Charleston every few feet. I was young then- but at the end of the route all I wanted was a hot shower and a bed. (But we had to dance in the centennial pageant again that night.)

  30. Parades bring back fond memories of band parades and 4-H parades that was always a highlight of summer. Love the the colors in Rose Parade. It will make into a great colorful quilt.

  33. What beautfiul, happy colors! I've been to many types of parades. Local 4th of July parades when the weather is hot! Children's parades in downtowns of big cities in the freezing cold. Spring parades are the best weather-wise.

My 2nd child was born in Louisiana and the family parades that are there during Carnival season are a lot of fun. My son, who is now 17, still remembers special items he caught at those parades. And he was 4 then!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I love this color combination. My first thought of parades was the 4th of July parade in my hometown but my second thought was the first time I was in NYC for the St. Patrick's day parade. It was crazy! I saw a woman walk up to a policeman and kiss him right on the smacker. They both laughed and she drifted off into the crowd.

  35. Wow! I'm in a trance. What gorgeous colors and flowers! It has such an old-fashioned look. Ok... Parade. Working in elementary schools for years we had a Book Character parade during Children's Book Week. It was fun to see the creativity of the students, teachers and parents. My favorite was a group of fifth grade teachers who all wore Troll masks. There sign said not a book, but a Book Club (Troll Book Club was big with classroom teachers) Thanks for the memory!

  36. Every year members of the local churches parade through my home town on Jubilee Day, originally to celebrate Abstinence. The little girls look so pretty in their best dresses :) I'm sure you've guessed that now the day is also the biggest 'booze up' of the year!

  49. Hi! A parade. We have participated in quit a few when the kids were young. They are all grown and now they are doing parades with thier own kids. My fondest memories are of the halloween parades our PTA ran every year until the kids were in out of 6th grade. I made my own costumes so we always had tons of fun and most always won a time or two. I love that fabric and would love for you to pick me, since I need more fabric!!

thanks for this chance to win.

As for parades, even though I am now in the mid fifties, a little girl within me comes out for parades. I'll even "dance to the music" while holding the grandchildren to share my love of them.

  75. As a child, I used to spend Thanksgiving morning all cozy in my jammies, along with my 7 siblings, watching the Macy's parade on TV. Sad to say, I cannot allow my own children to do the same because it has turned into one big advertisement for broadway shows and prime time television that no child should be watching. The Rose parade on New Year's day is still a good one though! And of course all the little local parades for July 4th and such. We love those!

  76. Wow, I love this fabric...When we were children my father would take us to see the New Year's parade in Philadelphia...it was so cold out but we did not sit outside to watch the parade...my father's friend had a little luncheonette which was closed on New Year's day...so guess where we sat and watched the parade? Yes, inside where it was nice and warm....such great memories....thanks for a great giveaway...

  77. The first parade I remember was when I was 4 years old and I was in it. I had won the local little girl's padgent and I rode in the parade. I was in the back of my papaw's (my grandpa) big red truck throwing candy to the kids that went to my preschool.

  80. LOVE that fabric - it would fit in perfectly in my turquoise/red hexagon quilt!! Here in Pinedale, Wyoming, every July we have a Rendezvous, where the whole week is focused on remembering times when mountain men gathered to trade in their furs for the goods they needed. We have a parade and many locals dress as indians and mountain men. Then they have a pageant where they tell the story of the original rendezvous'.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Gorgeous colors and prints! The real rose parade is always fascinating because of their use of colors to achieve some really cool floats! However, I'm not a fan of parades. I think this goes back to my band days where we were required to play and march in a parade and it was just so darn boring and tedious and tiring! LOL. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Oh so pretty!!
The last time I saw a parade was while living in Germany...can't even remember why the parade. I do remember them tossing candy at the spectators and the kids running all over gathering it up.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Ever tried the Rhythm Parade game on WiiFit Plus? You march to the beat and use the controllers to "throw" your batons into the air...if you keep perfect beat, you gain a whole marching band following you. It's pretty fun, but I'm totally not coordinated enough to march in perfect rhythm AND throw my batons when it tells me too!

    ReplyDelete
  84. This such a yummy line of fabric! I prefer a parade on main street in a small town over the bigger big city parades - the whole town comes together. :-)

  103. One of my great childhood memories was doing a carnival for Muscular Dystrophy - they would send you the supplies and some information, and you would put together carnival games and raise money and then send it in. I lived in a very rural area, so the carnival was in a wide open field, and the attendees were siblings and neighbors. We would have a parade with my father on the tractor pulling a wagon, and some of us riding and some marching behind. Nearly everyone AT the carnival was IN the parade. Good memories!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Here is a little story about a parade. When I was a tiny girl, about 3, we lived in a small town in California. The traveling circus came to town and had a parade. The little boy who lived next door wanted to go to the parade, so the two of us walked down to the main street where it was to see. I still vividly remember the elephants and how huge they were and how bad they smelled! I also vividly remember the spanking I got when my mom found me, because, of course, she'd been going out of her mind trying to find me! This event is the oldest memory I have.
Rose Parade is much nicer than a spanking!

    ReplyDelete

  120. When I was growing up, we had a town celebration every summer that lasted two days. There was a parade each day: all the neighborhoods made floats, marching bands from area high schools showed up to march, and the clowns came in a very loud and out of control car. I was terrified of the clowns. They were not the friendly funny kind of clowns. They were the scary and maybe a bit soused kind of clowns. I wanted the candy, but not so desperately that I would even look at them. And of course, I never did get even a piece of candy.

    ReplyDelete
  121. I remember our small annual hometown parades (Howdy Neighbor) all the way to the most elaborate nightly parades we saw at Disney World. Big or small, they always bring out a feeling of youthfulness. I love the Rose Parade fabric. Thanks for the giveaway!

  138. First of all, it's nice to have a contest that doesn't have all of those 94-gazillion ways to enter. Sheesh!! Now, as for a comment about a parade... I'm going to be telling my age with this one, but whenever I hear about a parade, it reminds me of that movie with Robert Preston "The Music Man". Ahhh...they just don't make movies the way they used to, do they? Lovely fabrics, Corrie. They'll be a beautiful addition to anyone's stash.

  141. I was lucky to attend the Rose Parade in Pasadena, CA, when I was a young child. We slept in the trunk of our car so we would wake up early and get a good place to watch the parade. We also watched how the decorated the floats.....What a wonderful memory. Thanks

  142. Our tradition is to watch the Rose, Orange Bowl, and Macy's Thanksgiving Parades on TV. Locally, it is the Bell Christmas Parade. Anyone can be in it - ride a vintage tractor or sit in a rocking chair in the back of the pickup truck dressed as an old timey Mrs. Santa. The little kids will have eyes the size of saucers. Thanks for the giveaway because your Rose Parade is simply charming. alternate email mlwright29(at)hotmail(dot)com

  143. I got to wear a tutu and dance down Main Street Disney in one of their parades once. I was only 26 years old at the time. My older sister and I were actually on our way out of the park for an afternoon nap when we were stopped and asked to be in the parade. I know they only asked because my sister was with me. I have never attracted attention like she can. :) It was a fun day!

  145. I love a parade! The music, the floats, the excitement. I would love to go to the Rose Bowl parade someday. Thanks for the fun!

  146. My husband isn't really a fan of parades, but in 2009 he was working in New Orleans and wanted to see a New Orleans Parade. He went to the Irish-Italian Parade. In true N.O. fashion they had floats and the riders threw things to the crowd. He caught some garlic, some potatoes, cabbage and a few bars of soap. He didn't really understand, but found it quite entertaining.

  149. The only parades I regularly attended were fourth of July parades. I can't say I enjoy them much, but they certainly seem the thing to do and it is always nice to get together with friends and families to celebrate a big event.

  150. My favorite parades are at Walt Disney world. I just love all the characters.

  151. When I was in my high school band, and marched in my first, and last, parade, I lost one drum stick while marching over a bridge, so had to play my drum the rest of the way with one stick .... can you say "Embarrassing???" Thank you for this chance for a beautiful fabric pack.

  154. I love parades! The first parade that I was ever in was when I was 8 years old, wearing my Girl Scout Brownie uniform and so proud!

  155. I actually got to go to the Rose Parade when I was a little girl - Unfortunately, I was too young to truly appreciate the magnificence of those beautiful floats and was frankly pretty bored by the whole thing - lol! Youth is indeed wasted on the young!

  156. I remember the 1976 parade in my hometown - all the women had sewn long, calico dresses and bonnets and there were red, white and blue banners all over the floats!

  157. I love parades, although I have not been to one in many, many years. I always enjoyed the marching band. The best parade I ever saw was at Disneyland several years ago, so colorful and fun! And can I just say ... this fabric is to die for! Absolutely love it. Thanks for the chance to own some!

  163. In our high school band, we marched in a parade in a town so small that the parade route was a dead end road. We had to double back on ourselves when we got to the end. Why this information is still in my memory bank? Have no idea, except maybe for this moment right here :)

  164. The roses in this layer cake remind me of the beautiful floats in the Rose Parade. What a gorgeous collection. I marched with the band in a parade at the state fair one year. Think we had to dodge the horse manure as they were ahead of us. It was a very hot day, too. Thanks for the chance.

  165. We have a parade in our town over the 4th of July. It is a great time to come and visit Provo, Utah. There is a parade, hot air balloon rally, a huge fireworks extraganza and many other things to do during the week of the 4th of July.

  166. I was in a Christmas parade as a young girl. Our Brownie troop jump-roped the entire way. I had energy back then. I miss it.

BTW, that fabric is so happy!
