  17. My mother is Dutch, so we grew up with Sinterklaas. This was much better according to my brother and me because we got our presents delivered on 5 December. My girls have also been signed up for Sinterklaas ro come and deliver. The poor man has to make a special trip to the UK for them but he doesn't mind because they always sing songs for him and leave a carrot in their shoes for his horse.

We have some lovely photos of him screaming in Santa's lap ;>) That Christmas Eve the kids set out cookies and milk for Santa. When Ben got up Christmas morning he was VERY UPSET, to the point of tears, to discover that Santa had actually EATEN those cookies! Ben was in the habit at that time of telling anyone who displeased him "No presents for you. You're on the naughty list." Santa promptly went on the naughty list! Thanks for chance to win these cute fabrics! (EMAIL: marshudson at comcast dot net)

When I was a young teenager, my friends and I decided to go out to my (parents') car and sit for awhile. When we got outside the car was idling (odd!) and upon opening the doors, we found "Santa" inside staying warm while waiting for his debut! It was pretty funny. We would all go to bed early and grandma would come running up the stairs saying she just saw Santa leave and we should come downstairs and look for ourselves. This went on for many years because there were 15 years between the oldest and youngest children in my family. We loved playing the game as we got older and the youngest ones didn't know about Santa yet. paweis at yahoo dot com

I don't want to deny my children that. They handle it quite well when they figure out it's us. They're even more grateful when they look back on what "Santa" gave them.

Anyway, we apparently called Santa "Noah" when we were growing up because in all of our bible storybooks Noah had a long white beard. I guess he would have - he was over 100, right? So that's my story. No Santa, only Noah. Good thing it never rains at Christmas in Ohio :)
