Look What WE Did!
I'm feeling so DIY.
Daughter doesn't think WE did anything,
that she did it all.
I totally helped.
A friend gave this to her.
What did I do??
I bought the paint.
I bought the paintbrushes.
When she was being a big chicken,
I convinced the Home Depot man
that it was more fuchsia than red.
He sweetly fixed it.
I bought the sandpaper.
I sat in a camp chair on the driveway and
drank Fresca while she painted.
I let her take my laptop outside
to listen to music.
I quickly left the garage when she took the tape off and
the paint had bled onto the white.
Did I not mention you have to push really hard
on the edges of the blue tape?
I don't think I mentioned that.
But after it bled, I told her.
She was sad.
She had to do it again.
I stayed in the house.
But she's happy now.
It turned out great.
I totally helped.
you TOTALLY helped!! That child better give you credit for all the moral support she received! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Yep, you totally helped!
ReplyDeleteVery cool and nice job...both of you.
ReplyDeleteMy nephew says that the "frog tape" is what you need for that kind of project. It seems that if the paint starts to seep under it, it seals itself down.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried it but he used it and swears by it.
Will definitely try that next time. She didn't have to sand/redo the whole front, just re-taped the lines down a little & painted more red.
DeleteProject Manager, that's what you were!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! :o)
ReplyDeleteThis is soo cute!!
Great team work!
That is so cute! Your daughter should be very proud. She (and you) did a great job!
ReplyDeleteUrsula
Wow you are totally AWESOME! I would never think to do that, and yet I am severely in love with it. I have a dresser in my craft room that I am looking at in a different way.... Hmmm what ARE the possibilities??? Unfortunately the drawers are not flush with the front, but that doesn't have to limit it.. Perhaps each drawer could be a different "fabricy" choice of treatment to it??? You have opened my eyes.. Now not necessarily my skill set.. Wanna come over??
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
ReplyDeleteAnd I totally LOVE IT>..way to go DIY mumm and daughter..I am sew PROUD !
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic! She was fortunate to have all your help :)

ReplyDeleteoh, you crack me up!!! That's the kind of help I offer!
ReplyDeletethis looks awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great makeover. I have read that after you tape, but before you paint, that you are supposed to paint some kind of clear paint stuff (I know I'm so helpful) on and then paint the color and then the color doesn't bleed since the clear stuff seals the edge. For next time of course...
ReplyDeleteThanks Tamie, we'll look that up. I thought she'd read a bunch on blogs about painting with tape, but I guess not.
DeleteYikes!! I am love!! It looks amazing, I want one too! Do you two take orders!
ReplyDeleteHelped?? You practically DID it! More like your daughter helped by putting a little bit of paint on. Sheesh, kids.
