ReplyDeleteThis weekend I will frantically be finishing all the necessary requirements for two quilts for my guild's quilt show. Lots of first: first entries in a quilt show, virginal making of hanging sleeves, first time trying to stuff a king and queen quilt into a pillowcase each for the show and have them looking respectable when removed from the case, labeling a pillowcase and the quilt with show requirements; de-catting a quilt for show purposes. I guess other making a quilt, it's just about a first for everything. One is a Double Wedding Ring that a 89-year (now 91) lady made for me and my late husband He saw the quilt quilted and not bound. So, it has curved edges. It is bound. The other quilt is a "twin" (although is a queen quilt) to a quilt I made three years ago for my sister-in-law when she was ordained as a pastor. I've had it quilted since then and couldn't decide if I wanted to scallop the edges on mine, too. Well, of course, I did. Marking the scallops did not go as smoothly the second time. I have it just about 1/2 bound. Quilts are due at the drop off point no later than Tuesday. So I'm in a panic to get these done. Add to that I'm not in good health. The other day I woke up two hours later than the last time I had looked at the clock and I still had a sewing needle in my hand. I'm glad that I made the commitment to get them ready for this show. It has pushed me and I'm seeing progress. Thanks for a great giveaway.

We will also be picking up a treadle sewing machine to clean it up and get it ready to sell. It is a coffin top with pretty inlaid wood that says Montgomery Wards.
