  2. I'm in Africa, we have the end of Winter looming - Yay! I 'ate winter! (say that with an English accent). I'm waiting so impatiently for Summer.

    I have a quilt to bind, I have decided to self bind as I have quite a bit of fabric left over all around the quilt. That will be done this weekend.

    I adore this fabric, it really does it for me!!

  19. End of summer involves packing everything up and moving to a tiny apartment with 2 kids and 2 dogs for three months till we wait to move back overseas. Hope to be all moved before the kids do there last 3 months of school in the US which does not start here in Michigan till the 2nd of September. Thanks for the giveaway.

  25. I have adult children - so no 'back to school' adventures, but I loved those days and still love that 'new beginning' feeling. One of our children is a teacher and loves it - so we get to hear all the 'happenings' of her day.
    I am busy trying to 'catch-up' on baby quilts and a few wall hangings this summer.

At the end of this summer I'm trying to recover from traveling, weeding the flower beds that look like I haven't weeded them in years, and finishing the machine quilting on a top I made last year. Hey, one year and I'm finishing...I'm almost a speed demon. :) blessings, marlene

  33. I am working lots of time at the county fair. I love hanging the quilts and talking about them when visitors come through. Many of the charity groups are sewing during the fair so it is fun to sit and sew with them too.

  36. We are building a robot! Just a simple one as my daughters are 5 and 3 but they love building things. We are getting motors and parts together to create a line following robotic vehicle. Should be fun!

  43. Here in AZ where my daughter is a teacher school started on Aug 6th. So I'm spending time in the pool and playing with my 4yr old grandson but not getting any sewing done. I love this fabric and would like to make a tote bag or something else for my daughter to use for school.

  44. I'm thinking we need to hit the splash pad a few more times before it closes. School doesn't affect us much, since my kids are only two. But they will enjoy gatting some of their little friends backhoe that their older siblings will be going to school. :)

  55. We have three weeks until school starts. But before we can think about school we have our County Fair to participate in. We will be exhibiting everything from pigs to rabbits and Guinea Pigs, sewing projects, baking, crafts even quilting......of course quilting!

  62. Usually I "miss" summer and this year I've made it a point to actually be outside more and enjoy the season. I'll continue my walks with my hubby and drinking my morning coffee on the patio... but as the weather becomes cooler I'll also be spending more time in my southwest-facing sewing room!

  70. Where I live (Vancouver Island), there are 3 1/2 weeks before school starts, and the teachers are on strike, so who knows when school will really start. I'm hoping to finish a small quilt that I've been working on since the beginning of the month.

  82. Pretty sure I need some of this! My daughter is a teacher, a good friend is a teacher and my other good friend works at a school! Can you say MUG RUGS for their desks?? My end of summer - trip to the San Juan Island next week with dear friends, a weekend with entire group of special friends and a baptism for one of their children, planning our 30th anniversary trip, maybe some boating (if our kids ever give our boat back), and of course - SEWING!

We just returned from a 2-day bike trip; weather was great in southern Minnesota - not so good here at home in eastern Iowa. Lucky us! I've been working on a caddy for my friend who uses a walker which she's nicknamed her "Mercedes Benz"! She's a doll and so spry for 90!

I need to look into them for a "new teacher" gift for when my daughter graduates from college. (Four years should be long enough, right? Lol) She starts her college level courses this fall towards her dual major! So proud of her!

  126. Summer is for scrap quilts, here. What is the point of saving all the scraps if I don't actually use them, right? Have 2 queen sized quilt tops nearly finished from the scraps, need to decide on borders. One will have pieced scrappy borders, I think, the other solid fabrics. There's at least one more queen sized quilt top coming out of those boxes yet this summer, and maybe even two. Love the fabrics! Thanks for the chance to win.
