Portugal Giveaway with a Side-Order of Business

I know you're here for the giveaway and frankly, that's all you care about, BUT, I have a little something I want to discuss. We have met so many wonderful and groovy people since doing this blog and it's been so fun to correspond with you. We would LOVE to correspond with more of you but we can't. :( Your email isn't activated. I know it sounds like something from Star Trek, but it's not. Just a couple little clicks in your Blogger profile and we can be emailing like long lost friends. (Typepad accts. don't seem to be a problem) I've made a little video to show you what I'm talking about.

If you're not able to view it (Bridget):), I'll give you the short version. Please go to your Dashboard, click Edit Profile and it will take you through a series of checkmarks. Place a checkmark in 'show my email address'. If you like to visit other blogs and leave comments and/or questions, checking this box is the only way for a fellow blogger to be able to contact you and correspond. Otherwise, we have to leave a comment on a random post of yours and maybe you see it, maybe you don't. Or we can leave another comment on OUR post in hopes that you will see it sometime. OR maybe I just want to talk to YOU, sometimes without it being so public. I might want to tell you all my deep, dark secrets. Okay, I wouldn't. That would scare you and that's probably the reason you HAVEN'T activated your email!! Oh. Okay, I get it! I'm hoping that most of you just aren't aware of this problem. Or maybe you just want to be LEFT ALONE. Well that's all cool and groovy with me. I'm only here to serve.....now on to the main course.....

Portugal~ 4 Fat Quarters ~ Giveaway!! Gorgeous, vibrant colors from April Cornell. If you liked Poetry Collection than you will love Portugal. We've got Layer Cakes, Charms, Jelly Rolls and yardage of our favorites. We were particularly drawn to the one color paisley's that read like solids. I think they're perfect for those 2 color quilt combinations.

For entries outside of the U.S., the winner will receive a pattern of their choice up to a $9 value.

To be entered into the drawing you must activate your email. JUST KIDDING!!!! No, just leave a comment telling me about the most exotic place you've ever visited. (Get it, Portugal?) And Cheyenne, Wyoming DOES count. :) Random Drawing later tonight!

  2. I traveled Europe many years ago and I absolutely loved Germany! Neushwanstein (a castle) was incredible!

  3. I LOVE the Portugal fabric! My sister asked me for another bag for fall and it looks like I might be visiting your shop for a jelly roll in the near future. Hmm, the most exotic place I've been? Haven't been to that many places, but I'd say San Francisco/Napa Valley. I grew up in rural Louisiana, so that was pretty exotic to me.

  4. The Portugal fabric so gorgeous. Does living in Japan for 3 years count? It was a long, unique, and very exotic "vacation".

  5. Israel was the most exciting place, for certain.
    Thanks!

  6. Ok, I think I have all the settings right on my account now! Thanks for the instructions. I am not extremely well-travelled but my favorite vacation was to Italy (Florence, Siena and Milan).

  9. Great post Des!!! Thank you thank you thank you. If only people would read and DO. I told my bloggers to come read this today. I must get 1 question a day, I think, that I can't answer. Thanks!!!

Exotic? I've been to where? . . . hmm I've been to Island Park. Hows that for exotic! I've been other places too of course, but certainly not more exotic than that. Wait, on second thought I've camped on the Delaware/Jersey shore and that could be considered exotic, right!? Exotic/eye opening - its all the same thing.

  10. I love the yellow one, so pretty. The most exotic place I've ever been, Maui...loved it!

  11. One of my favorite places would have to be Las Vegas. Where else can you go to New York and Paris in the span of a few blocks?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hmmm....hard to pick. Could be Cancun, Mexico for my daughters wedding OR deserted town in California where we camped next to a cemetary.... Ok, I pick Cancun...

  13. Great post on the no-reply, it does become very frustrating. Anyway on to the exotic, the Greek Islands would have to be it for me. The most beautiful blue sea I think I've ever seen, stunning white homes with blue painted shutters and extremely yummy food. Just gorgeous.

  15. I lived in England for a few years and had the opportunity to go to Scotland, Holland and Germany. Each country was unique and beautiful. But my favorite place was my own garden that I had created in my back yard in a small village where I lived in in England. I had a greenhouse and grew my seedlings till they were ready to be planted. The peace and satisfaction of creating my own little heaven on Earth topped any other place I have ever been!! Bliss!! :D

  16. What a great post. I tried to explain why people's questions don't get answered too -- and I don't think I made a difference. Your post might -- I hope!

I love these Portugal fabrics. Yummy! The most exotic place I've been was Florence, Italy. Many years ago, but I still remember it rather vividly. Gorgeous, amazing place!

  17. My daughter just got back from the Dominican Republic....does that count? Well, I loved Paris, but I have to say the most exotic was a kyaking trip in La Paz, Mexico. Love your blog. You don't happen to have access to the ginger blossom laminated fabric do you?

  18. mmmmmmmmmm I am pretty boring, no major world travels for me but in 4weeks my husband and I are going to Orlando for a week, does that count? No kiddos either!!!! I am hoping to disguise my age and get into one of the princess breakfasts, I want my hair done up like Cinderella too, and I will be getting an adult size dress, just kidding!

  19. hi des,
first: thanks for the opportunity to participate this giveaway (the fabric is gorgeous, haven't seen it before!).
The most exotic place I ever had the chance to be was the Isle of Bali - just beautiful!
    Greetings from Germany,
    Julia
P.S.: although living in Germany I've never been to Neuschwanstein ;o)

  20. That's awesome! Probably the most exotic place I've ever visited would be Bahrain, although I was Active Duty Air Force at the time. It was pretty cool to be able to see and experience their culture. Have a beautiful and fume free day! :)

  21. The most exotic place I've ever visited.....hummmm. I've been to Tiajuana. Does that count? I've also been to the Canada side of Niagra falls. That's as far out of the country as I've ever been. Niagra falls is quite exotic actually.

  22. Oh, fun fabric! What a great collection.

I, too, was in the AF and lived in England. Managed to get to Portugal (ironic, don't ya think??) and Israel. I'd have to say Israel was the most exotic. Where else can you walk onto a mall and walk past military members with their rifles slug over one shoulder, and have the whole rest of the population barely aware they are there?

  23. My favourite place I have traveled to was in Northern India, a place called the Spiti Valley, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is in the Himalayas and is open to the outside world for only a couple of months of the year. The rest of the time, it is snowbound. I loved it and the people. And I love the fabric in your giveaway!

    Yours, Cynthia

  24. the most exotic place? since I'm not well travelled, it would probably have to be Montreal, or Isle de Orleans - which sounds exotic but it's just a place close to Montreal - good old grade 12 french trip!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Wow that's hard. I would say Midway Island. I was there in 1995 while I was in the US Coast Guard. That summer I also went to Russia, Guam, and all over Alaska including the infamous Dutch Harbor. Good times!

  26. Ah, the most wonderful and exotic place that I have ever visited. Hmmm, that is a hard choice. My husband's job involved a lot of overseas travel and I was blessed to be able to go along about once a year. It's a three way tie for me - Athens was warm and lovely, then there was Antalya, Turkey which I loved but a hydrofoil boat ride from Finland to Tallinn, Estonia was awesome. My 18 year old son was along and we made the trip across twice as the city was so old and fascinating. I love the Portugal fabric and it is one country I never got to visit with my husband. What a fun giveaway! Oh, and thanks for the e-mail blog tip! Heading out to Iowa for a family reunion this weekend and while that is not exotic, it is great fun to see all the family!!

  27. Love the fabric. My wonderful place I would say since I am not an overseas traveler would be my home town where I was born and raised. Anacortes, Washington. I love that place and love to go home to visit. Love your blog.

  28. Thanks for the reminder/instructions on the email. Nanette already asked me to do that and I went out of town and then forgot. (I would be happy if people just left comments at my blog ;) )But now I have this annoying 'random question' and I don't know how to get rid of that. Weird.
    Exotic - Venezuela? Maui? Alaska?
I love the photos of the fabric - again, outside. They are LOVELY!

  29. I haven't been outside of the US, but I have always wanted to visit Ireland and China. Thanks for a great give-away!

  30. The most exotic place I've ever been was Prague in the Czech Republic, which I visited for the first time about 3 years ago with my choir on a tour. It was simply the most picturesque city I've ever seen, and I've raved about it to anyone who would listen ever since. We liked it so much that we went back about 6 months later for another trip, so we could explore without being tied to the tour group.

  31. Wow, lots of world travelers here!
Love the new fabrics and those that give a one color appearance with some interesting design are some of my favorites too!
As for exotic place...went on a cruise last fall...my first and Belize was the most wonderful and exotic place I have visited!
I think my email is OK on my profile!

  34. I'm sure glad I read about you at Freda's Hive this morning! I'd love to win some fabric. I'm not much of a traveler, but the most exotic place I've ever been is Kauai. I went years ago and couldn't get over how remote and tropical it was.

  38. Maui!!!! It was the best and first real vacation with my husband. We mostly stayed on the wild side of the island, eating fresh picked fruit, swimming in the waterfall pools, staying in a tree house and drinking a nice thick beer by the fire. Waking up to the most beautiful sunrises everyday. I get all dreamy thinking about it.

  39. Ah Cheyenne, WY -- the place where my mother's infamous "Cheyenne Proclamation" happened. We were traveling from Idaho Falls to Massena, NY (a long, long ways from Idaho!) in a rented RV. Three fighting kids, two fighting dogs, and one set of tired parents. The morning after our first stop at the KOA campground in Cheyenne, during a routine kid fight; my mom stood up, said she couldn't take it anymore, and directed my dad to drive her to the airport immediately because she was going home! Well, that stopped us all in our tracks. Mom decided to stay with us on the vacation (not sure what Dad had to promise her to stay), and we continued across the country -- slightly better behaved. Memories (sigh....)

  40. Exotic? That word isn't really in my travel vocabulary! But I guess Maui is as close I have been to exotic. I swam with a turtle and found the island's only quilt shop.

That Portugal fabric is just wonderful! Hmmm... most exotic? For me I guess it was Europe... after I graduated from college, my best friend and I hopped trains across France, Switzerland, and Germany. It was so much fun!

  51. I just love the Portugal fabric,it reminds me so much of my favorite vacation spot ever, the Canary Islands off the West Coast of Africa.
These islands belong to Spain and are very popular amongst Europeans. Great weather, wonderful food and incredible spanish culture.
Makes me want to buy a plane ticket right now!

  52. That Portugal fabric is gorgeous!

I don't put my email in my profile because I don't want spambots to find it. I do have a link to my email on my blog.

Most exotic place? I've been lots of places but Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands is probably my favorite.

  53. Hi Des,
New to your blog, but since I received my order and I looked at your blog I decided why not? Great ideas and I CANNOT believe your son made that quilt WOW!!!
The most exotic place I have ever been? Well I have not been many places, mainly the Northwest but I have to say that Rialto beach in Washington is the most beautiful place I have ever been to. We make a family trip up there every summer with my children, husband and his parents. We take a bit of wood and have a marshmallow roast as the sun sets over the water!
Anyhow I know that doesn't compare to some warm sunny tropical places some people may have been. I am a married working mom of 3, and have a part time job as a book keeper so time off is a luxury in itself!
