Weekend Giveaway~

I had some great scraps leftover from this quilt. It's a home dec fabric and I just wasn't sure where I would use them again.
ENTER~the sewing basket.
I love when inanimate objects waltz into your life.

Pink Penguin wrote the tutorial and has enriched all of our lives now! Nanette was obsessed with them. Jodi was obsessed with them. Well, I love a good obsession! Count Me In. I couldn't stop at one. I had to make 2 and then 3 with a few more planned just for good measure.

Look at what they can hold!! And LOOK what I found in my old thread stash? A missing scout badge. Never got sewed on. What a surprise. I think you could just fill it up with little books and Disney paraphernalia and be perfectly happy. Or keep it handy by the rotary equipment.

Freshwater Cucumber: obsession #27. So I feel like sharing with the 2 readers we get on the weekends. :) Let's pretend you're my neighbor and I just wanted to run over to your house and show you what I made and then you would ooohhh and aaahhh over it and then I would say,

"Oh, I'm so glad you like it. I made it for you!"

And then we would ride off into the sunset and be BFF's forever.

That might be pouring it on a little thick.....but maybe not.

Leave a comment telling me what goodies you would put in it.

I'll draw 2 winners sometime before Monday. I love ambiguity.

US entries only. Sorry.

Don't you wish that you saw things in this watercolor-y...blurry....color saturated way? Just sometimes?? Me, too.

  1. They are so cute. So I am entering this on behalf of a US friend. She's away to support her son's baseball team who compete in the World Series at Disney's Wide World of Sports. So as a suprise, if I/she wins, I'll enter for her. She is a scrapbooker and passionate knitter. So my guess is, that the basket would hold some great yarn and knitting needles.

  3. Ooooh, ahhhhh. Pretty fabric basket definitely needs to be filled with pretty things. I'd probably use it for one of my many crafting adventures (fabric or paper crafts). Or, if I was feeling really generous, I'd give it to my mom (or maybe just let her borrow it) for her knitting stuff.

  4. I just found your blog after finding your great little etsy shop. Beautiful basket! I would guess that a basket like that would be filled with thread in my house. I have drawers full and still have a bunch sitting around!

  5. Oh these baskets are adorable, I would put my scissors, thread, thimble , needles, etc in it for my applique. It would sit proudly on my little table in my living room holding my treasures to do hand applique or hand quilting.
Ok, Ok, maybe it would hold some hershey kisses too just incase I need a pick me up!

  7. I think that I would keep all the supplies I need for my current hand sewing project in the basket. Then I could have the basket with me in my sewing room and take it wherever I am sitting in the house to sew. They are so pretty that just looking at one would be an inspiration for my own sewing.

  8. Well I'm not commenting really to enter for the drawing.. but I just had to tell you how cute this post was, and how adorable the baskets looked the way you have them setting on those vintage children's books. :-) Delightful!

Whoever wins your little baskets will be so happy!

  11. They are adorable, they seem to be popping up on a lot of blogs, now I think I just "have" to make one or two or three.

  12. Those are darling, they look great! I would fill my basket with things just for me to snack on while in my craft room sewing or scrapbooking, just for me because I am the mother!

  13. Are they fun to make or what! LOVE your baskets girl. I must enter. I have the perfect spot for one. I would put my smelly goods in one. Body spray, perfume, lotion, deo. The colors are awesome!

  14. Ooohhhh, Ahhhhhhh! What a lovely basket. I am so amazed that I simply cannot think what I would put in it if you gave me one. Probably it would hold one of the myriad of sock-knitting projects around my studio - I can't get enough of sock knitting. And a basket such as that would keep it all together....and it's portable, too!

  15. So much for TWO readers!! Hee hee. I think I'll try anyway. I made one of these and gave it to a friend...so maybe I'll get lucky and gt one back.

    Very cute.

  16. Those are soooo cute! I think I would put spools of ribbon and lace in it, or I could keep my many pairs of reading glasses in it, or I could keep my current stitching project in it. There are so many possibilities, I can't choose just one!

  18. They are so cute. I imagine I would have to put toys in them especially Lightening McQueen cars of all kinds for my grandson. He has so many and loves to put them in a basket. Just to store not to play with the basket. Maybe I could sneak in a few spools of thread in the bottom. Linda Gerig

  19. I love the basket with the darker pink liner! If we were neighbors and you popped over with one for me I would first give you a hug and a cookie or something, then I would run inside and put some very tiny but very adorable baby girl accessories in it. That way when I have my throngs of guests come for the baby everyone would see it. I'm sure they would swoon, and then go see the baby ;o).

  20. Oh so loving these little cuties! I would have to stash my little one's everyso cute hairbows in them. Right on top of her dresser so it would be on display all the time.

Again, so freaking cute! Love that dark pink lined one. See I'm still all about the pink!

  21. Those are so adorable! I might have to give it a try-just add that to my list of 582 projects for Christmas...anyways, I would probably fill it with my spools of embroidery thread to keep it separated from my other thread, or I might just have to fill it with all of my daughter's hair clippies and pony o's in the bathroom-how cute would that be to see all those pretty fabrics in the bathroom? Thanks for the giveaway!

  22. The baskets are adorable! So many ideas for use! I think I would use it for my kitty toys that are currently in an old chirstmas box.

  26. I LOVE these baskets!! I would put one in my bedroom and fill it with the lotion and linen spray that I use and the book that I am reading at the moment. Or I would put it in my living room and fill it with yarns and crochet needles for as I work on the next project in my long list. Or maybe I would keep it in my new sewing/craft/office room and keep lots of my crafting odds and ends (like fabric scraps, thread, bobbins, etc. proudly displayed.
    So pretty!!!

  27. I love those! I need those - all of them! I would put spools of ribbon in one or fill one with buttons! Yep - I think I would put buttons in it. Definitely.

  28. So you think only 2 people look at your blog on the weekend? I don't think so, I'm like comment #26. I wish only two people were looking, that would really help increase my chances of winning! :)
I would love to win one of these baskets! It would help keep my sewing area tidy. I would put all the small sewing notions that I use regularly in it, like my rotary cutter, tape measure, ruler, scissors, and a few more items. Thank you for the lovely giveaway!

  29. Wow, the baskets are great...I think I might have to make a few one of these days! I think I would put mine in my family room at my computer desk--it would make it more cheery!

    ReplyDelete
  30. arizoSEW cute!! Believe it or not those colors would totally match my family room. I would put it in front of my fireplace (front and center to be admired by all) and fill it up with all those baby toys that are always all over the floor.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Of course I'll be your BFF! And they are really darling. I think mine would hold the little things that collect in the kitchen and then later have to be put away in their various homes. That way I would get to carry it around every day and think of you!

  32. The baskets are great! I would use this basket to place my half-hexagons that I am combining into a City Lights quilt--made completely of half-hexagons that form a Y-shape. Each Y shape has a dark, medium, and light shade in the same color fabric. As I work on other projects, I always snip a half-hexagon from my other fabrics and every few months, I sort all of my pieces into color families and see which of my hexagons match well enough to be sewn together.

I just discovered your blog today--I've become inspired as I've explored your postings.

  33. Those are really cute! I would fill it with my rotary cutter and scissors and little ruler and all those things that sit beside my machine to make it look all pretty.
(and I know I'm in Canada :( but if I won I'd love to go shopping in your shop and then you could just add it in to my shipping? I've been looking for an excuse to buy up some charm packs).

  34. These are adorable! I am a teacher and I can see having one on my desk and one at the front board. I would load it with dry erase markers, stickers, my maracas (important for spelling instruction!) and chocolate. Chocolate is one of the California standards. Crossing my fingers!

  35. I would put a loaf of still-warm homemade bread and some blueberry jam so when you gave me my little nifty gift I would have something for you. Imagine your surprise when you got home and found a gift card to Home Depot in the exact amount of the new dishwasher you want hidden in the bottom under the bread!!!

  36. How fun! How about some lovely lotion... some dark chocolate... of course some fun fabric... I'm really not picky... I'd put just about anything in a lovely basket made by you!

    ReplyDelete
  37. oooooohh! Pick me!! I love those. I would fill them with my little clothespins that I've wound with pearl cotton for my embroidery projects. Ever work with pearl cotton? It comes in these big hanks that get messy within 5 minutes of unwinding them. So the kids and I meticulously wound each color on a clothespin.

They need a basket like this!

  38. Oh so darling! If these were mine, I think I'd fill them with snacks. Some of those Reeses Snacksters bags, a couple Hersheys Kisses, etc. I could put my little basket on the table next to me when I'm stitching. YUM!

    ReplyDelete
  39. You're baskets are cute, and you are definately on a roll! I've made one basket and it has business cards, tags, a Starbucks gift card and other little randon items. Now I want to make more after reading your post!

  41. They are definitely cute. I'm sure my little girls will try to steal it and fill it with all of their fun treasures. But, I have so many uses for it, I'm not sure which one to pick!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I would be filling mine with all the crap that's just lying around on my sewing table. What a disaster! It'd be heavenly handy to have it all organized finally.

What a great use for your scraps!
