Big Winners are 27: Laura and 62: Corrie (Cool -- fabulous name! We should talk.) Email me with your address & what fabric you would like, either 1 yard or 2 half yards. [Laura, there's not an email for you. If you don't respond, I'll have to send it to Diane...you made me laugh, you usually do.]
Des had posts scheduled every day this week, even though she's out of town. Gee, you'd think she didn't want to hear about my Disney weekend. But I can tie it into quilting.
My girlfriend, Lynnelle, & I have had this in the works for a year; we finally made it happen. We were standing on the airport curb with Mickey ears on, when our other friend, Stacey, arrived -- dropped off by her husband. She had no clue what was going on. She was in shock, to say the least. Her wonderful teenage daughter had packed an interesting assortment of clothes for her & of course no pajamas or toothpaste. We had an amazing trip. (This is at 1 AM.)
Small World..... Met up with Deborah, whose mom was reading our blog & told her I was going to be there. Deborah was one of our first Quilt Taffy customers - it was great to meet her & her hubby.
To commerate the event, I got this. What do you think?
You know, that actually looks like my hair. We met this gal on the Buzz Lightyear ride. She had this tatoo done last year from a Mickey Christmas ornament. That's a little more devotion than I have.
Do you know where this was taken?
We did a little shopping in New Orleans Square.
We had a super time at Disneyland & then hit Venice Beach before flying home. Wish you were there. Wish I was still there.
~GIVEAWAY TIME~
There will be two winners.
The prize this week is one yard of fabric, your choice.
If you want 2 half yards, that's good too.
Leave a comment in regards to anything Disney..... Memories....
One of the best -- Des was proposed to there.
Random drawing tonight.
Wow...I'm the first comment??? Well, I really love Disneyland...it really is the happiest place on earth! And my son got to go with friends a couple of weeks ago...and I had to stay home! Oh well!
ReplyDeleteDisneyland was so cold the last night we were there, I bought a Minnie Mouse night shirt to put on over my shorts. I thought it was a great idea, but my family would not walk with me. Go figure!
ReplyDeleteWell, I have never been to Disneyland, but my kids are still fairly young. My son is three and my daughter is just two months, so it is on my list of places to see, and I would really like to take a family vacation there once the kids are old enough to remember it! Who wouldn't want to go to Disneyland?
ReplyDeleteDisneyland? Never been but really want to go. Soon. xxx
ReplyDeleteNever been to Disneyland. Would like to go sometime.
ReplyDeleteWe always got into Disneyland for free on Veterans Day because my hubby and I were both in the Marines. It was the first place we went to together prior to getting married and then after having our first daughter, we took her there as a newborn baby. It has lots of memories for us. :)
ReplyDeleteCool tattoo by the way!
I think I was 16 when I went to Disney. I will be bringing my 5 year old sometime soon I imagine. I was into the rides mostly and went a few days before Christmas. It was a perfect time to go then I hardly waited in the rides. I really liked it and went to Epcot too.
ReplyDeleteYum Fabric. I am not 'buying' right now (using up stash) but that doesn't mean I can't WIN some!!!!!!
I went to Disney World when I was 13...I think. But I had such a great time and can't wait to take my daughter there when she gets a little older. : )
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Disneyland! I know, I am so deprived. I am really looking forward to taking my daughter when she's older (only 2.5 now). I love having a child, and getting to see the world through their eyes!
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Disneyland. I have, however, been to Disney World in Florida 3 times. The first time I went was when I was a very young girl and they had just opened it. It did not have nearly the attractions it has today way back then. Probably my fondest memory is when I went at the age of 25 with our church group and some of the teens talked me into going on the Space Mountain roller coaster! They tricked me and told me it was not bad. I knew I was in trouble when, after I was buckled into the little car they told me to take off my glasses! I hate roller coasters and prayed for God to get me off it the whole time!
ReplyDeleteHave a Blessed Day,
Diane
Add me to the "never been to Disney" list...maybe one of these days.
ReplyDeleteWe took our girls there many years ago and it was the best vacation we were ever on with them. As we were heading home from Florida, you could hear the bickering starting and I knew the good times had ended.
ReplyDeleteDisney so much fun. I just need to get busy with my Christmas things to make. Linda Gerig
ReplyDeleteMany many years ago, high schools in California would have their graduation parties at Disneyland. We bused down from Santa Barbara and had the run of the place till 6:00 A.M. I don't know if they still do that but what a wonderful way to end our high school years.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to disneyland, BUT my hubby and I spent our honeymoon at disneyworld. It was the greatest trip ever! We had such a fun time and we can't wait to go back with kids in a few years.
ReplyDeleteGrowing up my family traveled to DisneyLand every 2 years. My mom would dress all three of us girls alike in DRESSES and Black Patent shoes!! LOL We always had our photo taken in front of the garden....
ReplyDeleteWell, we're in L.A., so we go to Disney quite often. It IS the happiest place on earth, you know. And we pretty much always have a good time there.
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time I went to Disneyland. I was 7 years old and I couldn't yet go on all the rides that brothers and sisters could go on. I wanted so much to go on all of the rides. As they were on roller coasters and such my Mom took me on a "secret trip" to find Alice in Wonderland and to get fudge. She took pictures and I thougth for years that is was a "secret trip" and then one day realized that was just my Moms way of getting my mind off of the disapointment. What a great memory for me!!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the spirit of Disney got to you with this giveaway. I grew up 10 minutes from there and every night at 9:30pm we could hear the fireworks and watch them from our second story. Wish I was there with you.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you all had a great time, never been there but want to go.
ReplyDeleteOh I wish I could comment about a visit to Disneyland. It was a childhood dream but living in a country on the other side of the world I couldn't see it happening. Now I live here in the States and have children of my own who would just DIE if we went there, so I suppose we should put it on the agenda. We're just waiting until the youngest is tall enough to go on rides!
ReplyDeleteI have been to Disneyland more times than I can count. One of my favorite memories was when I was a senior in high school, I surprised my little sister with a trip for her birthday. We both got to ditch school and we had a blast. We still talk about how good the bacon cheeseburgers were from Maize's Cafe at the Disneyland Hotel. It was a great day. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I've never been there before! We'll go eventually. When my dad went when he was still living at home, it was really hot. To prevent the motor or something from getting to hot, he had the heat on! Was that not ridiculus or what!
ReplyDeleteSince I'm local, I have a pass & go about 1x/month. My favorite times are these crazy scavenger hunts/Amazing Race events we do 2x/year, organized by mouseplanet.com. Basically there are 500+ Disney-philes terrorizing Disneyland/California Adventure/Downtown Disney all day long... running into poles, etc. Good times! :)
ReplyDeleteI have never been to DisneyLand, but I'm leaving for Disney World in 3 weeks.
ReplyDeleteDisneyland is on our list of places to visit...we want to wait till the boys are a bit older though..I can't wait till that happens...so glad you had so much fun!
ReplyDeleteMiranda
I went to Disneyland on a church youth choir tour when I was
ReplyDelete16 and had a great time.
I've never been to Disneyland but one day I will very much get to visit...Disneyland seems like a magical place where worries melt away and the magic begins...
ReplyDeleteI went to Disneyland for the first time when I was 21 years old and you would have thought I was 5!!! It really is a magical place!!
ReplyDeleteI used to live in la la land so I had a year pass for Disneyland. I spent my youth growing up there. It was great. I miss it.
ReplyDeleteI was in band during high school and we went to Disneyland my senior year. It was so fun to not only go to Disneyland, but to go with all my friends. Now I can't wait until my son gets a little older so we can take him.
ReplyDeleteWent to Disneyland many years ago....it was fun and my only regret is that my son was too young to enjoy it...should have waited until he was older. Have fun on your trip. Glenda in MS
ReplyDeleteSniff. I've never been to Disneyland :( Therefore I have no memories to share. Now I'm depressed. The only thing that would cheer me up is fabric.
ReplyDeleteOOOOOhhhhh! You girls had a good time, right? I'm glad you made it home safe. We are going for Sara's birthday on the 25th. I love Disneyland!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Disneyland but did go to Disneyworld just a few months ago for the 1st time (I am 35) I never understood peoples devotion to the Disney places UNTIL I went for myself....wow, it is pretty neat, makes you feel like you are in a movie! I loved it, want to take my kids so bad now!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Disneyland. But when I was in 8th grade my parents took me to Disneyworld. Within the first ten minutes of being there we lost my grandparents who had come along to "enjoy the looks on [our] faces as [we] saw things for the first time" Apparently while we were climbing in the Robinson treehouse they went for coffee and took a wrong turn. We spent about an hour looking for them and then my mom decided that we just needed to enjoy the day and we would eventually meet up with them.
ReplyDeleteIt turns out they were at a lot of the same places we were, just right before us or right after. We ended up finding them in their van out in the parking lot playing Nintendo.
Such a weird day.
My DH always says my kids were deprived because we never took them to Disneyland. They are adults now and seem to be ok. I have never been there either...my parents waited until their kids were grown and on their own and then they took a trip to Disneyland just the two of them. Sheesh!
ReplyDeleteI am GREEN with envy! I love Disneyland and would live there if they would let me. I can never decide though - Main Stree or New Orleans Square? NOT Toon Town or the Haunted Mansion. :D Like you, I grew up in the shadow of Disneyland and would watch the fireworks from my front porch. I spent a LOT of time there. One fave memory is playing in an orchestra for The Sound of Music -practicing weekly in the Disney offices there and then performing the play in Fantasyland -after hours! On break we got to go in front of the theater. It was so cool to be there when it was deserted. We also went behind the scenes.
ReplyDeleteProposal at Disneyland??? Swoon, sigh, smile.
We have taken our son (he's 7) twice for vacations and had the time of our lives! We are now planning and saving for a trip in the fall of 2009 to Disneyworld in Florida! We can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteWhen my dh and i got married we were suppose to vacation at Disney. He was in the military and they didn't let him have the time off. Then kids came along and now we don't have the money....sigh....
Glad you had a good time!
I am so surprised by how many people haven't been to Disneyland. But I guess it's because I live in California that I've been so many times (even though it still takes 6 hours driving to get there). I love how clean it is there. I haven't been there in 8 years though. I love Disneyland! (oh, and I love fabric...thanks for the giveaway)
ReplyDeleteNever been to Disneyland, but have been to Disney World. I will say Florida can have some quick and dark thunderstorms roll in during the afternoons. They must make a mint selling those yellow rain ponchos. However, it was a great trip and look forward going next time with the grandkids.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had great time. My kids would be so jealous! We are the slacker parents who keep putting this one off. There always seems to be little one who needs to be just a bit older. And truthfully, with 4 kids in tow, it doesn't sound like a vacation, it sounds like WORK! Perhaps we should just leave them at home! :)
ReplyDeleteI can still see Walt Disney on t.v., I'm that old. When I was young I confused him with the movies on Sunday night on t.v. and that elusive vacation spot in CA. that only rich people went to!
ReplyDeleteOh and uh yeah, I don't confuse fabric, so here's hoping to win AND I know Lanelle! What did you think of the country bazaar?
ReplyDeleteWow - I've been out of town too with no internet - and it seems I've missed an awful lot of fun here! (That apron is soooo cute). Anyway, my first trip to Disneyland was as a 40 year old adult (which was a looong time ago)! But a kid at heart I was - It's a Small World ride was my favorite ride and Space Odyssey was a gas! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteOur family had a big plastic piggy bank that we kept by the fireplace and my parents would put money in it every day. After a few years, we had saved enough for our family to go to Disneyland. We drove with another family, and got to see Universal Studios and Seaworld too. I was 10 years old and have so many great memories from that trip. And now I've convinced my husband that we have to do that trip as a family too when the girls are old enough to be able to remember it like I still can.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a memorie becuz I can't wrap my brain around that tattoo...really I can't....
ReplyDeleteI have a classic Disney moment even captured in a picture. When my oldest 2 girls were 5 and 4 we took them to Disneyland. I had my twins but my MIL watched them. We went just for 3 days. My girls did ok but got so tired by the time we made it to "small world" that they have a classic pose in front of the "small world" castle with crooked micky ears, holding some goodies, but with faces that had only tired expressions - no smiles. When I look at it I laugh. It is like - Mom, this is not fun anymore. And posed against the castle with the ears - says it all. Disneyland is not for the weary.
ReplyDeleteMy husband hates Disneyland and refuses to go back. Killjoy.
I would dearly love to take my children and grandchildren to Disneyworld someday. It would be a trip of a lifetime. Maybe I'll win the lottery?
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Disneyland, but my husband has been several times when he was a kid. He broke his foot there and had to wait until he got home (to Canada - driving!) to get a cast onit because his parents didn't want to pay for it.
ReplyDeleteMy son and his family spent a week at Disney last month with his in-laws! They had a blast and it was the first time my grandhchildren had been to Disneyland!
ReplyDeleteTaking all 3 of our girls for our youngest daughter's first time. There is nothing better than a child's first time going~Gotta love the Mickey Ears!!
ReplyDeleteMy cousin used to be Mickey Mouse and a family friend makes costumes at Disneyland.
ReplyDeleteTaking my kids to Disneyland for the first time and watching as my 18 month old got to hug Pooh Bear her FAV! Also watching my 5 year old get to meet her FAV Aurora (Sleeping Beauty). Their heroes in real life-their smiles and laughter. It was priceless. They loved flying through the air in Dumbo, and going through the Whale's mouth to the land of tiny fairy tales. Disnelyland is just the best ever!

I have been to both Disneyland and Disney World. My favorite memory is watching the fireworks with my little boy Jimmy at the Magic Kingdom at Disney World. He was 5 years old; his big sis and Daddy were back at the hotel because poor Amy was sick. I took Jimmy out to see the fireworks because he was desperate to see them. The place was packed, and a Cast Member came up to us and asked if we would like to view the fireworks and TinkerBell's flight from a "secret hiding place". Anywhere else in the world, I would have run away screaming -- but I knew I was safe at Disney. He took us to a wonderful spot away from the crowds, nestled up right by the castle. (There were other "specially chosen" people there too -- mostly singleton parents with small children....). It was one of the most magical moments of my life. The joy in Jimmy's eyes makes me cry even now (and he is 14 years old now....).
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to go to Disneyland. But I want to wait til my kid (someday plural maybe) are big enough to enjoy it. Fingers crossed for the fabric!!!
ReplyDeleteMy sister still has a rock in her wrist from falling and trying to protect her donut when we were kids. Hard to explain, but we still laugh about it.
ReplyDeletegiveaway on my blog right now too...
I actually worked at Disney World about ten years, so most of my memories are associated with that time of my life. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI have been to both Disneyland and Disney World several times and enjoyed both.
ReplyDeleteJanie
I think I am probably the only human being in the United States who has never been to Disney World or Disneyland. Maybe someday! All three of my kids went either with scouts or school or friends, but we never went as a family. I know--child abuse. Maybe if I make them a quilt it will ease the pain!
ReplyDeleteI was 14 when I visited Disneyland, it was fairly soon after they opened. I remeber being fascinated by all the rides and characters and the sheer size of the park. I wasn't used to the sun, coming from New York, so I ended up with a wicked sunburn.
ReplyDeleteSomeday before I die I want to go back.

We went to Disney Land when i was 14 for my sisters graduation present...it was an awesome family vacation! I am so excited to take my girls one day! I love that happiness of anything Disney!
ReplyDeleteEven though it's been years and years, I have such wonderful memories of Disneyworld with my son and daughter when they were the perfect age.
ReplyDeleteI went to Disneyland once -- senior year in high school. Never been back, but I have been to Disney World several times. Thanks for the chance to win fabric!
ReplyDeleteDisneyland is truly the happiest place on earth! Our family are Disneyoholics. We have year passes and our family room is decorated in Disney! Love it! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Disney memory would have to be riding on "It's a Small World" as a child- so much fun!
ReplyDeletei have never been to disneyland.
ReplyDeletebut good news is that we have 3 kiddies and are plannig to go within the next 2 years!!!
DisneyWorld -- Been there - done that - loved Epcott!
ReplyDeleteVail in MS
Oh I love Disney. My family didn't have much money when I was little so we never took vacations....but when I got older and they could afford it my parents to me and my brother. It was great...even as a young adult to experience it for the first time. I still am so fond of that time.
ReplyDeleteDisney land is fun. I went when I was a child and lived in Calif. Is the tatoo real?
ReplyDelete
