  1. I started this thing when I was around 18 and started taking road trips with my friends. I take a picture of a complete stranger without them being aware of it. One guy was riding a motorbike beside us, one was a little kid on the beach, etc. Sounds kind of freaky-slightly-stalkerish I know, but it was all in fun, and I scrapbooked all my "strangers" once. I don't do it anymore, not sure why I stopped, or really why I started in the first place!!

  2. I will never forget Oprahs road trip when she was driving across the GW bridge and said she couldn't see.
Ok....I drive over that bridge a lot and always think of that and hope all the drivers around me CAN see.

  3. Hey, we're planning a road trip across the states right now. We wanna go coast to coast but should we go east to west or west to east? I'd also like to meander north to south a little too. It's gotta be a pretty route (for me) with plenty of skateboarding stops (for the guys). xx

  6. This was a road trip to Louisiana to be at and be in my brother-in-law's 3rd wedding. All went well going there. On the way back we were a little over an hour from where my brother-in-law lives when our car broke down. Now my brother-in-law and his new bride were staying at this motel in town so we called them. It was a major belt that had broken. So we called my brother-in-law and he brought his new fine and best friend, who happens to be an ace mechanic and they got the parts we needed and came to our rescue. They worked on that car for several hours in the extremely hot sun got everything fixed, but it still would not crank. It was on a Sunday and we had to have it towed to a Buick dealer nearby. Next day this Buick dealer told us it was this, this, this, wrong with it and it would be nearly $2,000.00 to repair! I called the Buick dealer I had purchased the car from, who happened to be a good friend of my dad's. He told me to put it on a tow dolly and bring it to him. So brother-in-law's best friend used brother-in-law's truck and pulled us all the way back to Alabama. It wound up costing $200.00 to fix! That place in Louisiana thought they had them a couple of suckers since we were from out of town. Fooled them!

  9. A road trip I never forget is the one the family refers to as "the trip from hell" anyone mentions it and we all remember it! Started with an over heated radiator, then a crack windshield from a rock flip up by a truck, radiator overheated again (stopped to get a new one after that) keys got locked in vehicle in Nebraska and had to wait over 30 minutes for a locksmith, also in this trip we traveled through something like 13 states and 2 Canadian provenience's)some of the states were in the southwest and traveled in 100+ temps -- never again!!

  10. When I think of road trips, I think back to the summer between my Freshman and Sophmore years of college. 3 of my roommates and I started planning a road trip. Part of the funding came from those who didn't do their chores (we had a jar for the change). We stuffed the car full of all our junk and drove to California. We went to Disneyland and the beach and spent a little time in Hollywood. We all got sun burned but survived, and there weren't even any serious fights! Thanks for the fun giveaway, and travel safe.

  11. you know what would be nice???
to take trips like the stars do.

you know...fly to venice JUST to eat dinner.
or fly to greece JUST to shop the local market.

yeah. if only we had that kind of clout.
    hahaha.

  12. Road trips are great.....except when they are driving a moving truck halfway across the country with your husband.....who is SURE you can make a looooooong three day trip in just two. Let's just say we weren't speaking by the end of the trip :)

    Road trips...for girlfriends only!

  13. While I am not a fan of Oprah I immediately thought of her road trip that she took a year or so ago. She didn't know how to pump her own gas.

When I go on road trips I am constantly on the look out for the "largest" and "smallest" things. Like the World's Largest Rocking Chair. The World's Smallest Chapel. Things like that, which cause me to detour thirty miles off course to have my photo taken by it.

Road trips rock. Especially the spur of the moment kind.

  14. Beef Jerky is a must-have for a road trip... And if you can visit one of those superlative type places (World's Largest Ball of Twine - yep, been there), that's even better!

  15. Used to take more road trips than we do now. The road trips that come to mind were the ones where we went to see my grandma when she lived in Kansas City, MO. The drive from Texas was pretty boring, but it was highway all the way so we could drive at a good speed limit.

  16. I drove down the coast of California with my fiancee one year- it was incredibly beautiful, and we got to see seals lying on the beach!

  19. We make road trips to Louisiana a few times a year. We always llok forward to the different stops along the way to break up the trip. With three kids under five we take whatever break we can get!

  20. I will always remember our road trip from Nebraska to North Carolina back in the mid 60's. Before we reached our destination the car broke down. Luckily it was close to a house and the family opened up their home to us while the car was being repaired. They were so gracious and made us homemade ice cream. Oh to long for the good ole days.....

  22. Oh I like this. I did go on a road trip with my sisters and mom once to Disneyland. I was 18 so that was eons ago. My favorite road trip was nearly 5 years ago when we packed up all the kids in our 15 passenger van and headed to Pennsylvania. My oldest daughter was graduating from Bryn Mawr and we drove across country to be there. We went to church sites too. And I'm from PA so I got to show my kids all the places from my childhood. It was fun. So so fun. I would love to do it again, but now 2 kids are married and job stuff, life stuff makes it very hard to have something wonderful like a 3 week trip. Fun memories. I'm sure you guys are having a very fun time.

  24. My favourite road trip was with my family when I was about 14. We drove across the USA but our destination as Ontario. We stopped in all kinds of wonderful places and really enjoyed eachothers' company. (My parents were nuts though, that was 7 kids and 2 adults in one vehicle!)

  25. First of all, I hope you guys make it home safely! I've had a lot of road trips, but I think the funnest one was with my best friend Kathy to go and pick up her horse. The best part? No kids! :)

  26. I love road trips by myself! I download a book on my iPod, (you have to make sure it has enough hours to see you to your destination), stock up on some healthy snacks, (and a couple not so healthy), and away I go. Sheer fun!!!

  27. We just got back from a road trip across state. Picture this...two adults and a toddler in a car seat all crammed into the back seat of a small car across Washington. We had to stop a lot but we did have fun! Thanks for the giveaway!

  28. My longest road trip was across the USA in August The car had no air conditioner. That did it for me, now I take the plane!

  29. We usually road trip once or twice a year to see the in-laws 12 hours away. Hopefully our toddler gets over hating the carseat before our next one in June.

  30. I don't really like to travel on the Autobahn (motorway/highway) because here in Germany there is no speed limit. So whenever I travel back home to where I grew up (only about 250 miles, but thats a looong way here in little Germany) I usually take all the back roads, enjoy the countryside and try to use the ferry across the river Elbe, just for some additional fun. It takes me a whole day to get there, but I nonetheless enjoy the trip. (And if I should win, you could even add the prize to the jelly roll I bought yesterday in your ebay shop. (If it is not sent out already, but you are gone, so I guess it isn't)

  32. We're planning a road trip this summer from Louisville, Kentucky to Orange Beach, Alabama. Not sure which I'm dreading the most--the drive or the wearing of the bathing suit on the beach. toss-up.

  33. I had a great road trip with a girlfriend of mine when I was 22. We left Phoenix at 6 at night after I had worked and not slept for about 50 something hours. We drove straight through to Denver. I was sooooo tired. I kept saying - just pull into that hotel. I'll pay for a room! I just need a couple hours of sleep!

    It was great fun!

Hope you are having a good time!

I loves me some In-N-Out. I miss it so.

  34. Well any GREAT road trip would include Disneyland so I will tell you of my daughter's road trip. Last May she and two of her girlfriends from this PODUNK town hit the road. They drove straight thru from northern Idaho to southern CA! There they caught up on sleep then went to Disneyland, the beaches, Hollywood, Magic Mtn., up the CA coast, did up San Fransisco, OR coast and then across OR back home. Before they left, my daughter and one of the gals had NEVER driven on busy freeways before!!! :0 The two gals had only driven out in the middle of nowhere on an interstate. The other gal had driven in the Spokane area on the freeway. As they drove off I pointed that out to hubby - he said well this trip was YOUR IDEA! God kept them safe and they had a BLAST!
YEARS ago, my Seattle sister and I took her two little boys on a road trip to.......Disneyland! :D That was fun too.

  35. My now fiance & I used to roadtrip all of the time when we first got together. Our best trip had to be the one when we were both unemployed and only had credit cards, so we just packed up the car and headed to Orlando, FL for 3weeks, we almost moved down there while on that trip, but a job interview called us back to Chicago, which is where we are still stuck today! We always wonder what it would have been like if we would have just stayed in Florida!

  36. Road Trip? Shoot! I'd be happy to have a road to go on for a road trip! I live in the Arctic at the top of Alaska with only one way in and out: airplane. SO the thought of being able to drive ANYWHERE and not be here excites me to no end!! :o) I'd think I'd like to drive through Canada. I hear it's pretty there. And as for road trip snacks I'd plan on taking lots of crunchy things: apples, carrots, sugar snap peas, SunChips, and some sort of a cookie. Then there's the best road trip food ever: a small french bread or baguette... just rip off a hunk and keep driving!! Mmmmm... the best. :o0

  37. We dont do very many road trips around here. Usually 1x a year we will go to Cincinnati or to Gatlinburg. More times than not its a 'family' trip that includes either my extended family or Michaels. Always makes for alot of fun and a little stress thrown in the mix as well.

  38. Road trips, loved them. When I was much younger it was neat to just pick up and leave....head to Hawaii for the weekend (yep I did that), head down south, visit Mexico, Yep did that too. Reno, NV, oh yes made regular air flights there for the weekend. Load of fun, however, it came a time when responsibility kicked in. Kids came first, no extra dollars any longer, so the road trips stopped. Was waiting for semi-retirement, should have the $, right, well yes and then again no. Medical circumstances hit my home and my DH condition will not allow us any road trips. A road trip to us now is going to the grocery store or Walmart. Takes a lot of time and patience to do something, years ago which was so simple. Rae Ann

  40. drove 14 days, 6,500 miles, 23 states, crossed the mississippi in its southern and northern most points during those 14 days, need I say more. Oh ya, gas was still $4.25/gallon. Don't want to repeat that one soon.

  41. We haven't been on a road trip since...well, our honeymoon (we've been married 3 years). We have two little ones, so it's a little tough to do a real "trip," unless you count going to the in-laws an hour away every 3 weeks or so. I have the packing down now with a list. That's the most stressful thing for me is packing. I'd love to go down to Disneyland. So jealous of you ladies. We were fortunate enough though to get an In-n-Out right down the street a few months ago. I love it!

  42. I love the fact that you went to Utah but continued on to California. What fun to be so spontaneous! I would love to take a trip like that someday.

  43. The best road trip I can remember was when I was about 8 and went to visit grandparents clear across the country in Connecticut. We took 1 1/2 weeks to get there (visiting a ton of interesting sites along the way) It seems like the times we laughed the hardest were at the hotels . . . strange things can be found in hotels!

  44. My most favorite road trip was one we took to the Oregon coast. Found a cute little cabin to rent on the beach and wee were off. It was fantastic!

  45. Greetings from the Sundance Film Festival. I can't believe you are in CA and I came to Utah. It is about 30 today, clear skies with plenty of snow on the ground. We are staying in friend's beautiful condo high on the mountain in Deer Valley. We have seen 4 films so far with 3 days to go. Not exactly a road trip, but fun none the less.

  47. Great memories of a road trip two summers ago. All of my husbands brothers and sisters with thier children. We were a caravan of minivans and ended up at Disney Land, Universal Studios and two days at a great beach with a sea lion who chased the men up on to the beach. Funny yet a little disconcerting!

  48. I went on lots of road/camping trip as a child with my family, but this summer i get to go on a road trip across europe, thru like 13 countries. a bunch of people in a bus, camping wherever we go, i cant wait.

  49. I can't wait to enjoy a roadtrip again! For some reason traveling with a 2, 5, and 7 year old just isn't as fun! Maybe it's all the crying and screaming from the 2 year old when we're only 30 minutes into the trip... Maybe when they are older.. sigh.

  50. I am currently on a road trip with my husband and in the last two days visited Mt. Lemon in AZ and Big Bend National Park in Texas. The awesome part of traveling with him is that I get to go on all the high, curvy, scary roads in the mountains that I would (could) never drive on myself. So much fun.
