Snip 2 It ~ Giveaway

Update: OH, I love my numbered comments still. Tonight's number was 103 and I didn't have to count that high!!!! Yea, for Anne. Congrats. Drop Corrie your mailing address and Snippets will be on the way to you!!
P.S. Okay, I have to say that Harry is a total STUD. I've been watching these movies over and over again and I love him. Consensus was definately for Ron but Harry has my heart. He is so brave and courageous and that's just very "charming" to me.
Go Michigan State!!
We love what Jodi came up with over at the Moda Bake Shop. So much so....that we thought you needed your own American Jane's Snippet Charm pack to get busy on it this weekend!
I've yet to meet a pinwheel that I didn't love. And the prairie points.......well they just remind me of the ROCKtastic quilt that my mom tied for me growing up.

Prairie Points all the way around it.
I've never made a prairie point so this might just be a first for me.
Jodi makes it look so easy and doable.

Lovc American Jane's retro look...
Fat Quarters sets are in the store

Gals, I'm at a loss for a random comment question. So since my family is lounging around me on Spring break I have posed the question to them. Here is what they've come up with. Take your pick.

1) How is the current economy affecting the price of underwear?
2) Who's more "charming" Harry Potter or Ron Weasley? (we're currently on a Harry Potter marathon)
3) Who's going to win the NCAA championship?
It's all about variety folks.
Pick one. Pick two, but just don't pick your nose. That's from Greg.
Random Drawing later tonight.

  1. How has the current economy affected the price of underwear? Well...I'm thinkin underwear is more expensive than it used to be. Like everything else. I have a solution for this problem. I have cut back on the purchase of such items in order to have more money for quilty things. Besides, no one sees your underwear unless you go to the hospital anyway. Or maybe I should say no one see "my" underwear unless I go to the hospital. Thanks for the giveaway. I love that little quilt!

  2. what a rocktastic giveaway!

hmm, the price of underwear. well, i haven't bought any since before Christmas and it was pretty pricey than, i can't imagine what it is now.

i'm not a Harry Potter fan; haven't read the books or seen any of the movies. how about i just go with Edward from Twilight? lol

and the NCAA. i do know what that is but being from Canada, i don't watch. i just get upset that the games screw up my prime time tv shows lol! how about i cheer for whichever team you are cheering for? do i get extra entries for that?? ;)

  3. I have no idea who Ron is....I know the Gonzaga Bulldogs will not be winning the NCAA tourny....but i will be meeting The Farm Chicks on Friday....tee hee hee

  4. I *love* Snippets! All of the American Jane designs are gorgeous, but this one in particular, and I do need to make a couple of baby quilts, so - perfect!

Ummmm...I've no idea what NCAA means. :-/

Harry, or Ron... Harry or Ron...I've always liked red hair, so I'll go with Ron. :-)

  5. American Jane, Yay !I like Harry better than Ron :-) Underwear? Wouldn't know, might be more expensive but haven't splash out of any new stuff for ages, so I couldn't tell you. The economy is affecting the price of groceries alot though, even especially down here in New Zealand :-)

  6. I know my DH was shocked last time I bought underwear! it's definitely gone up to help pay for the board's huge salary rise they gave themselves. I know fabric has already gone up a couple of daollars a metre here in OZ.

  7. Love the giveaway! Thanks!

I haven't needed to buy new underwear in a while, but I bet it's expensive, everything else is!

    Go Harry!

NCAA? Umm...??? I don't even know what an NCAA is.

Thanks again for the chance at your giveaway.

  8. Oh, pinwheels, how I love thee:) But, seriously, I've been ohhing and ahhing over this quilt, and this line. So, hey, rock on for me that I read your blog everyday!

As for Harry vs Ron... I'd go with Ron, but I think I have a serious case of redhead crush running rampant through my life!

(Heh, I see Quilt Nut remembered the Rocktastic! Insert my Rocktastic comment here:)-

  9. I <3 this quilt and this giveaway! I so want to make this quilt.
Question #1 - no idea, don't need any underwear but I'll bet the prices have gone up as the bits of fabric used have gotten smaller
Question #2 - I know who HP is but have NO CLUE who Ron Weasley is. :S
Question #3 - I am not into baseball, or football, or BASKETBALL! Of the college or pro level. zzzzzzzz No clue who is even playing, in the finals or whatever.
Did I mention I love that snippets fabric? That quilt? The giveaway?? yeah, I thought so.

  10. Oooh I would so love to win this charm pack! I've just finished my own Pinwheel Baby Quilt using this design and I'd love to do another using these fabrics.
Well from a 29 year old Harry Potter fan (I've read them all 3 times over)- I definately think Harry is much more charming than Ron - Lol!
    Thanks for the giggle!
    Best wishes,
    Jenelle

  12. I'm an avid HP fan (maybe because I'm a children's librarian?) but I'd have to go with Ron, because I have two redheaded sons, and redheads are where it's at. BTW, I LOVE these snippets. I might have to buy them--even if I win, I might need (a lot) more!!

  13. I like Harry Potter, but Ron is charming also. thanks for this chance!!

  14. Let's just say the price of underwear is CRAZY! I know they charge more because it is something we have to buy..but come on!

Harry over Ron...but there is something very charming about Ron.

Michigan State to win the NCAA...even though I am a Purdue Boilermaker at heart I live in Michigan and have to root for the home team.

  15. Ummmm....underwear has always been kind of expensive to me. I mean for what it is. Haven't purchased any in awhile so I am unsure of the economic ramifications it has taken on the going rate for underwear. But I sure do love American Jane and that quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Well, I think UNC is going all the way with the NCAA tournament. But how can this be more interesting than the price of underwear or Harry Potter. I just don't know.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Oh dear,I guess I'm in a group of semi-quilter/sew-ist(How's that for being incredibly savvy & up to date?!!!)who is not up on the price of underwear, basketball or the Harry Potter or other guy thing. But I DO really like Snippets & most anything by American Jane!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Undies are expensive!! 5 dollars a pair seems a little steep when they can't be seen. Great giveaway. Thanks! valerieann118atattdotnet

    ReplyDelete
  19. hmmm...I think the price of underware has dropped because everyone is trying to save and scrimp. Therefore, they are just wearing their old holey underware instead of buying new. :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Great giveaway. Thanks for the chance.
#3 -- the team that wins the most games.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think the economy has made the price of underwear higher! I just bought my son a pack of boxers and they were $10.00 for only 3 pairs! I think this is insane! I am gonna have to get a pattern and make him some.
    Have a Blessed Day,
    Diane

    ReplyDelete
  22. The only way the economy has affected the price of underwear for me is how much I have to spend on it! I don't think it has gotten more expensive, yet. Harry Potter is rocktastic. As for the NCAA...MU, KU, or Oklahoma!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ron is the most charming. I love Harry but he has so much on his plate and no time to really relax.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am going to have to say Harry is more charming because my son has a scar on his forehead in the same spot as Harry's. I think North Carolina will win the NCAA. Last year I won in my basketball pool and this year I am near the very bottom.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Jodi is so talented and I love her blog too.
The economy is not affecting the price underwear for me because my hubby works for Hanes Brands and I get a discount. Yay!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. panties and bras are so expensive at certain stores, but in my opinion they last a long time. I know that I no longer go to the exclusive stores that I use to go to buy them, now I stick with department stores and get them on sale (Penney's is always running sales) come to think of it I hardly ever buy anything at normal price, almost all my shopping is at sales.

  27. Underwear price rise? In depressions the little bits of what you fancy- chocolate cosmetics etc tend to sell well so maybe prices are kept down to entice us to be fancy pants with our choc bars and lipstck.
Ron beats Harry- red hair definitely wins out.
NCAA???? I'm from the UK so have to pass in ignorance.
    Loving Snippets and the quilt

    ReplyDelete
  28. I've got Michigan State! I would LOVE the Snippets charm pack, too!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Your questions are just too funny. Underwear....well lucky for me, I stock up on them when they are on sale. What I find really queer, it the size I need are always the ones they are sold out of????Does everyone go in and buy underware they day a new stock arrives? Weird. I love the quilt and would love to make one, I'm with you the Parire points are what gives it that extra charm. Thanks for this wonderful give a way. Someday I'll win! Rae Ann

    ReplyDelete
  30. Those questions are too funny. I think Harry Potter is more charming.

Thanks for the chance to win!!

    =) melanie

  31. I dunno about underwear, haven't bought any in a while. Harry vs. Ron is hard, do you have a thing for glasses or readheads? But... UNC is going to win for sure!!! (proud grad right here baby)

Thanks for the chance to win, I was eyeing this quilt just the other day!

    ReplyDelete
  32. lol we have been re-watching all the HP movies this week also. I definitely think Harry is more charming that Ron, but I think its just because Ron takes his blessings for granted, Harry is much more humble having endured the Dursely's for so long. My 7 yr old asked me at supper last night "Is Harry Potter readl?" I said well no he is just a character but magic? Maybe :) xoxo melzie

  33. Let me tell you, I have been doing my part to boost the economy by buying underwear! My daughter (3 on Saturday!) just went through potty training... We bought Dora undies, My Little Pony undies, Princess undies, and Tallulah undies (that's what we call the plain ones - don't ask). I guess it worked, because she's doing fine with it. But oh man, now we have the most tedious undie-picking-out ritual every morning! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wow, what a terrific giveaway - I love that pattern, Jodi rocks!

Harry is clever and smart and cute, but he's such a sulky teenager - I spent most of the last three book wanting to smack him and tell him to Get Over It. Ron is sweet and you know he's solid as a rock.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Who is buying new underwear? We are just wearing it holey. I have 3 sons. All we are buying these days is food.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That is one gorgeous quilt! Underwear is still the same price as it was before the economy went down the drain. I think despite the economy, most of us can still buy underwear (we call them chonies in our house). But I could be wrong, maybe some can't and I should be sensitive to that.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wella s for the underwear, I'm having to wear the more economical boring cotton ones.. no cute frillies for me. And I have to say it's a tie for Harry and Ron. They're both so charming in their own ways. And I picked my nose, just for Greg :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. North Carolina baby all the way. How did the baseball game go? if my nephews still played for Sugar City, Firth would get whomped on by them! Good Luck to you son. Pin Wheels and Praire Points, what more would a quilter want...oh yeah, your fabrics!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I mean a YOUR son, AND I hope he has a ROCKTASTIC SEASON!!!

  40. Ron Weasley, for sure.

  41. Ooh Laa Laa, Harry Potter! And as for the NCAA tourney? Since Kansas is out I don't care. Okay, I barely cared anyway...

    ReplyDelete
  42. Great prize! Love snippets!

Thoughts on underwear... I'm sure the price has gone up. Unless, that is, you hit the sale rack at your *new* neighborhood Target. YEAH!
Harry v Ron... I can't choose. Broody, tormented, and genius or goofy, loyal, and lovable. hmmm...
NCAA... I want my normal shows back!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Being that the economy is the way it is, we have had to sacrafice a bit. I have a terrible fabric addiction so it consumes the money to even buy new underwear. My husband seems to be just fine with me making his underoos with my leftover scraps and selvages. LOL
    (I am totally kidding)

Thank you for making me laugh today (AGAIN)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ron for sure, because all redheads are rocktastic! As for underwear, I did notice that Victoria's Secret had a big sale a few weeks ago....lol. Great giveaway and great questions from your lounging family.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love this fabric line, charm packs and the quilt! So I would be happy winning all around! Thanks for the fabulous giveaway. And now I will answer a question:
I think the immediate answer to question number 2 is Harry. Maybe because he is the main character or because he is "the boy who lived". However I want to give Ron a fair shake because the books just wouldn't be the same without him. I love his character and I think he faces up to some pretty tough challenges really well. I think he is the best provider of comic relief and compliments Harry's character. But does that make him more charming? Per my definition of charming, probably not. So I come full circle in this rambling and give my answer that I think Harry is more charming, but Ron is more rocktastic!

    ReplyDelete
  46. ummmm....don't follow sports, didn't read Harry Potter, don't wear underwear--But I do love snippets and want to make the pinwheel quilt. (ONE of the above statements isn't true)

    ReplyDelete
  47. you said rocktastic.
    tehehe.

okay i'll go with the harry potter question since i'm a hardcore fan.
i'd say that even though ron has his charming moments, i'd give harry the most charming award.
dude i can't wait for the movie to be out.
    only 3 more months!!! yayyy!!!

    my word verification is: forces
    {why are these starting to make sense all of the sudden??? lol.}

  48. oh, my!! this is the giveaway i would LOVE to win!! i just put jodie's quilt in my flickr fav's yesterday!!! :) and i love the prairie points, the way jodie added them around the pinwheels, on the white, so creative!!! and using the "snippets", love the vintagey goodness!!

as for underwear, i think everything has gone up in price with the economy, so it woudln't surprise me if underwear has too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hmm, well I'm not allowed to comment on the NCAA since Louisville lost and everyone is still in mourning around these parts. And I don't know nuthin about no Harry Potter or Ron Weasley, so let me just say that "during these tough economic times" (sniff), we've all had to cut back and that means NO NEW UNDERWEAR! We do still change underwear everyday though. I change with my husband, he changes with my son, he changes with his older brother . . . . you get the idea. It's quite depressing. Since I'm the only female in the house, I have to wear boxers and briefs several days a week. Not really the best look under the slacks I wear to work. (I wonder if that's why my co-workers are always whispering when I walk in the room, but never say what they're whispering about?)
Those rocktastic snippets would sure make me feel better about my state of affairs. In fact, they would rock my day!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh, I totally have that tutorial marked in google reader. So cute - I think I would like to make something like that to brighten up my boring office! And yeah, this is a rocktastic giveaway. How funny about HP - I've been rewatching the movies lately too! And I can't decide between Harry & Ron - can't wait for the next movie to see the interplay between Ron & Hermoine - he might win my heart in that one...but then there's the Harry/Ginny thing...I dunno!

    ReplyDelete
  51. What a fun giveaway! Love the fabric and the pinwheels too!

I'm not sure about the underwear, but I'd definitely have to vote for Ron. I've always been a fan of the underdog.

As , for the NCAA, I'm not the best to comment - I had Memphis going all the way in my bracket. And, well that hasn't turned out too well for me.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm going to go with Ron Weasley! Harry can be very obnoxious at times!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Well, we are on spring break too and today we shop for underwear, so I do not know that answer, as for number two my 13 year old daughter says neither , she is a Twilight fan,
as for the NCAA, that would be the White Socks (LOL) or I have no idea, I am off to pick something!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. the price of underwear....not really sure! I love the Harry Potter series though...obsessed really. A marathon is a good idea right now actually. Harry is definitely more charming as Ron is cute, but really not very tactful. Can you be charming and tactless at the same time? No idea who is going to win the NCAA. I do know I LOVE vintage/retro and would really LOVE to win this giveaway!!! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh this is an easy one. The Tarheals are deff gonna win this year! As for the Harry Potter Question I think Ron is the winner. And the underware issue I am a sucker for Victoria Secret sales and I dont see an end in sight. Thanks for the giveaway and wonderful quilt! Have a Fantabulous day!

    ReplyDelete
  56. hiyall,
I am soooo loving those snippets. I am known as the snippet queen at the quilt shop that I sometimes teach and take classes. as for the underware question? prices for panties and bras are unreal. if you are ample annie, north or south, like I am you spend too much money for a little sumthin' that no one will see unless you ride a pole for a living. thats my story and Im stickin' to it! 57. Definetly a ROCKTASTIC giveaway.
So far I have not noticed any big price increase on underwear. But even if they did have a price jump, would pay it as I am not one who can stand creepy crawlers/wedgies that evolve with worn out underwear.
And if I won this fab collection, I would have extra money to spend which would help the economy, I'm just sayin :)

  58. Economy affected underwear? Hummmm...... well, I suppose it's gone up, like everything else. But, have you seen how many different types of underwear there are!!! It's ridiculus. Especially if you compare them to the guys underwear department!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Definately Harry. He's my hero. And I will have you know, I've been admiring that quilt on their website since it went up! I must have it. It is very delightful, almost rocktasticlike. Have a beautiful day!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I'll have to pick the underwear question since the other two are out of my knowledge zone. I don't think it's changed much here - the "big box" stores seem to keep those items the same.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I've been boycotting purchasing underwear ever since the saleswoman where I bought my last pair of jeans informed me that I really needed to purchase thong underwear. To which I replied, seriously, are you kidding me?...the world (at least MY world) is a much better place with tried and true jockey underwear. So, I cannot comment on the price...
Ron over Harry, and the NCAA -- not sure, been too busy looking at fabric online. Regarding snippets -- rocktastic. tanyaerickson at mchsi dot com

  62. Well, I've been getting coupons from Victoria's Secret (about once per month) for a free pair of panties...so i guess i'm actually getting undies for FREE right now!

  63. beautiful quilt! Pick me!
I know for a fact that our family, with the exception of the littlest one, who throws his "underwear" away after every soiled diaper, has not purchased new underpants in quite awhile! We may need a new quilt to cover up before it's all said and done.... :)

    ReplyDelete
  64. What a FANTABULOUS giveaway (new word for ya). Ron or Harry...tough call. We too have been on a Harry Potter kick lately (my 2 1/2 year old picks up anything wand looking and casts spells at everything (maybe too much Harry, eh?) I like Ron, his personality cracks me up, and he always has the funniest things to say.

  65. I LOVE the Snippets line! Great giveaway! Ummm, so why do you make these so hard? I am really at a loss today. . . I think I will make my kiddos undies (age 4 & 5) using their old t-shirts and such and a pattern from That Darn Kat and voila! FREE!!! Now, how do we find the free time????

  66. what a cute quilt. I think Michigan state should win since I am from Michigan but I picked Louisville and they let me down. Linda Gerig

    ReplyDelete
  67. I love that quilt!

Well... know that Victoria's Secret hasn't lowered the price of panties...but they keep sending me e-mails - so I'm sure they want me to 'invest' in some new ones!

Even though I love Harry - Ron is such a cutie!

And my hubby is a b-ball fanatic - so yes, I've been watching every game! He's hoping for North Carolina.

  70. The book version of Ron is way more compelling (that is, cuter) than Harry, but he did NOT translate well to film. I thought he came across too rogue-ish and not smart enough! He was much more charming in the book. Wow, that quilt is sure adorable, even cuter than Ron.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Underware hmm It has been a while. I stocked up several years ago when the store had them on sale. Harry Potter. NCAA I;m not into sports.

  73. Ok well I have to go with Ron Weasley being more charming, I mean Harry has it going on, but Ron is there just off to the side going through his own trials right along with Harry, sometimes people don't give him the credit, but jeez he's just a teen boy too and without Ron i don't think we would love harry as much as we do.

now I LOVE that quilt and would love to try making it on my NEW sewing machine that I am totally psyched about working on....yay!!! Pick me Please

  75. I saw this on the Moda site and fell in love. I need it.

If underwear gets to expensive - go commando.

Screw Harry and Ron - I'll take Edward.

    NCAA????

    ReplyDelete
  76. I believe that Ron Weasley is much more charming than Harry. But that may be because he is less bogged down with the fate of all wizard-kind on his back. Or maybe because I just have an affinity for red-heads.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Don't get me started on the price of underwear!! I mean seriously! It's quite ridiculous to pay $8 for one pair. I don't know what Victoria's Secret is, but she really needs to get her act together and stop selling underpants priced for millionaires!

Ok, I'll get off my soap box now.. Oh what pretty fabric. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  78. I just adore Ron (in the movies), so I'll have to go with him! Love your site, just discovered it, and we'll be back!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Hmm the definition of charming evokes manners, attention to detail, well-groomed.. I'd have to say that Harry is only slightly in the lead with this one; however Ron can definitely surpass Harry while Harry is busy fighting off V..

    ReplyDelete
  80. I have to say that Ron is really my favorite character next to Hagrid. He is charming in being the sidekick. He is more accesible. Harry is so busy being "the boy who lived" eh?
Love this pattern and the fabric used. Love the inner border of prairie points.

Cedric is definitely the most charming!

  88. Don't watch Harry Potter and don't know who the other guy even is. Don't watch sports, so that leaves me with underwear......I don't know, but the price of underwear is probably increasing - everything else is!

  89. Question 1...how has the economy affected the price of underwear---my answer---who wears underwear? I use all my money on fabric I can quilt with not fabric to cover my bum!
Question 2...I like Harry Potter. He's mysterious and shy and rather cute!
Question 3...I don't watch sports, I'd rather spend time sewing.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Great giveaway!!! As to question #1 How is the current economy affecting the price of underwear? I'm sure it is, but who really needs to wear underwear? I can think of so much more fun things to buy...like fabric!

  91. How has the current economy affected the price of underwear? I'm sure it has gone up dramatically just like everything else...I wonder if it would be economical to make quilted underwear???

  95. I absolutely love what she did with the Snippets. I am going for the underdog Villanova all though I am in the work pool with UNC. I'm with Ruth. Why spend money on underwear that nobody sees when I can buy fabric!

  96. The price of underwear? Regardless of the price you still gotta wear it. (FYI-I just bought a bra for $18, the first since buying nursing bras when my son was born 4 1/2 years ago. But that's probably too much information!) Anyway, that quilt is adorable! Just finished a pinwheel quilt for my daughter and wish I'd thought of doing prairie points. So cute!! Thanks for the giveaway. ;)

  97. How has the current economy affected the price of underwear? Well I can't buy my australian made bonds anymore :( All shipped from China.
No idea on the NCAA...I'm australian...If you can tell me who will win the footy (australian) that would be great for my tipping.
And of course Ron is better than harry, hands down.

  98. Well, I've never read Harry Potter or watched any of the movies, and I don't follow the NCAA (or even know what it is to be quite honest, does that make me bad?!) so I guess that leaves me the underwear option. So far, I don't see any change in the cost of underwear, although I have noticed huge sales at all the stores lately. Although, underwear isn't something I purchase super often (too much info?? haha) although I don't wear it until it's holey. Wow this comment has run off into the ditch fairly quickly, so thanks for the giveaway, looks great, I love the little pinwheel quilt!

  99. Well to answer question #1, the current economy has effected the underwear...yet. Fortunately our life hasn't been impacted much by the gloom and doom that everyone is talking about. It did stink when gas was $5/gal back in the fall. Anyway, hopefully underwear inflation isn't around the corner!

  101. You and your family are just SEW much fun!!!!

    1) How is the current economy affecting the price of underwear? No clue, I'll have to buy some soon and we'll see if the price has gone up! I hope not!

    2) Who's more "charming" Harry Potter or Ron Weasley? I'd have to ask, Who's Ron?

    3) Who's going to win the NCAA championship? I'm so outta the loop, i thought this was usually done by April 1, heehee - Ok just looked it up... I'll say Mich St or NC. I dunno UConn usually does well too, not too sure about Villanova. Tough pick!

And Greg, I'll pick my nose if I want/need, heehee - I got tissues and hand sanitizer :) *HUGS*

  103. Oh Harry or Ron, of course Ron for me. Underwear, well if you don't wear underwear than you won't have to worry about the price, and North Carolina all the way just to bug my son...We will be watching the "frozen four" though. I love that quilt it is so awesome!

  104. Let's see.... UNC will win the Finals of the NCAA basketball tourney. Pres. Obama picked them and they were looking pretty good to me the last time I checked.

Ron Weasley is by far more charming, because Harry is a bit too shy around the girls. Also I am married to and in love with a redhead-they are VERY charming people!

Price on underwear.....For big girls panties- Well at Vicky's Secret I hear it runs about $25 a pair. That is out of my price range for sure. But I think I saw that Hanes and the Fruity's are about the same as before this economic mess. For sure little girls undies are about the same price. As for the men's really not sure as my hubbies boxers are holding up for now! Toodles! good question choices by the way!
