Garden Cheesecake

Mike to the rescue, as always. Mike is a fireman.

He tells you how it is. No fluff. I think you either really like him or you really don't.
I really like him (& his wife).

You don't mess with Mike. I doubt he would approve of his picture on the blog, so I had to snap it quick.

He very kindly came over & plowed our two large garden spots.

He won't let us pay him, so we had to do something.

Spent two days making this for him (and we had to have one too).

Okay, mine didn't look exactly like that, but it looked pretty good, don't you think?

It tasted really good.

Have you made cheesecake?

No, not the stuff out of the box.

Put it in the oven for two hours, take it out for ten minutes, run around the block, then put it in again for three hours, turn the oven off and let it sit for 10 minutes, turn the oven on and do a jig. Then place in the refrigerator uncovered, but exactly nine hours later, uncover. You can't leave your house for two days.

It actually tasted better the third day. I think Mike liked it. His wife was out of town, and I don't think he told her about it. It was gone by the time she got back.

Got the recipe out of this great cookbook that Des gave me.

I was thrilled to find the recipe online just for you.

  1. I have made cheesecake before and you absolutely cracked me in describing the long, drawn out process it can be.

Funny! I'll have to check that recipe out. Thanks.

Oh, and one of these days I'll win one of your giveaways.

  2. Yum! That looks scrumptious. John made a cheesecake a couple of months ago and it was divine. It's worth the effort! :)

  3. I make cheesecake pretty often. Okay, maybe too often. Look at my butt. Wait. No, don't look at my butt. Anyhow, I've never made this one and it looks DELICIOUS!!! I've already printed the recipe and I am so stopping on my way home from work for ingredients. Maybe I'll make it this weekend for Mother's day visitors (think two 6'4" sons). That way there won't be so much left for me. I'm sure my butt will thank me.

  4. Oh Wow!! I'll look forward to you making that for me when I come visit next week. You're so sweet and kind that way.

FuNNy description. I've never made cheesecake. don't think i'll start now.

  5. That looks so delicious!!

  6. that looks really yummy. I've always wanted to try making a real baked cheesecake!

  7. oh, my goodness!! that looks so yummy, and now i want some cheesecake for breakfast!! :)

my hubby has made cheesecake but not me. i'll let him keep making it in the future. :)

  8. I've never made cheesecake from scratch. I'm not big into cooking. Actually, I dispise it. But YOUR cheesecake looks yummy! Happy Mother's Day!

  9. Two days??? That is quite the process. I don't know if I am that patient. Sure does look good though and I'll bet Mike appreciated it.

  10. mmmm... Yummy! it looks delicious.
I will be printing the recipe and making one soon.

    Have a nice weekend!

  11. Sounds delicious! What a nice thing for you to do for him and for him to do for you. I love neighbors like that! Have a great weekend! Thanks for the recipe!

  12. I wasn't's more helpful hints...Cool the cheesecake on a wire rack in a draft-free location for 1 hour; refrigerate, uncovered, for at least 3-4 hours. When the cheesecake is cold, cover it with a piece of foil or plastic wrap across top of pan & refrigerate over-night before serving.

  13. That looks good enough to lick the screen! Sounds like Mike is pretty happy to have you as a neighbor!!!
