eat. quilt. repeat.

I've wanted to make this quilt ever since
I first saw it on
Moda Bake Shop.
Apparently, so did Corrie.
She beat me to it.

That V&Co. she's a clever one!

I had just the right little baby boy
coming along to make this for.

Mom's colors are some of my favorites.
I really like going with the darker,
more vibrant colors for this quilt.

I love a fat binding on the back.

Usually, I don't have time and I put a smaller binding on and machine attach it. But I actually had a few extra days on this one so I was able to hand do the back binding. I cut a 2 1/2" strip and did not double it. I wanted that big 2 inches showing on the back.

Nest Flannel Backing
As soon as I find out what one of my nieces is having.....
yep, I'm going back to this one.
It was quick, fast and fun.

  1. Bright & bold for baby. Cute! That backing will be snuggly for when he's "sleep"ing. Nieces having babies?? Not on this side of the family. :-)

  4. I just adore the fat binding.
How did you get a finished edge on the backside if you didn't double the fabric over?

After I've sewn all my strips together for the binding, I then iron a 1/4-ish" hem on ONE side of the binding. Attach the raw edge side of the strips to the quilt and the ironed side is already turned for you to hand stitch down.
