favorite teacher or back to school outfit.
My favorite teacher was my math teacher senior year. I went to a Catholic high school and she was an older, prickly, disapproving Nun. She always looked at everyone with a tinge of disapproval and I rarely saw her smile. But she loved her students; she was dedicated to us more than any teacher I have known. And while she had a gruff exterior she had a heart of pure gold. She is one of the few teachers I have had that I would enjoy as a friend now.
ReplyDeleteI had a favorite teacher in 4th grade. She was such a wonderful person and a great storyteller. I love hearing her read to us. She made reading exciting. Overall though, I think all my elementary teachers were absolutely wonderful teachers. I couldn't ask for better teachers during my early years.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite back to school outfit was in the 4th grade, my first pair of pants! Up until that point it was only dresses to school. I had to beg the entire summer but it paid off since I proudly returned to school in the cutest tan and pink pants outfit.
ReplyDeleteNo question about it - 5th Grade. Mr.Peterson. Tall, dark and handsome, drove a silver Corvette (my love affair for that car started then and continues to this day). He moonlighted as a body guard for ELVIS when he was in the area! When I took a Bernina class last year I got to talking to the lady across the table from me. She taught at the same elementary school that I had gone to and knew Mr.Peterson! She took my email addy and was going to give me info on contacting him but she never did. :(
ReplyDeleteMr fave teacher was Mr B, he was my high school geography teacher and he was such a great guy, really helpful, got me out of gym when I couldn't be bothered to go and all the kids loved him. Unfortunately he turned out to be a not so great guy and got locked up for indecent stuff with teenage girls. Hmm. How thought provoking is that for you?!!! ha ha.
ReplyDeleteOver here we wear uniform to school, so we don't get to pick out cool outfits. That's not fair, is it? :(
My french and english teacher in "Bezirksschule".
ReplyDeleteHe was a very strong personality and very strict. You really had to work , oh boy, to get good notes. But he was always just and supporting if we were cooperating. And I really learned some french and english, which I am still thankful for!
I'm writing from Sri Lanka where every school has a uniform. A white dress yes white in the tropics, generally the skirt is either pleated or box pleated, collar and always, always sleeves worn with a badge and a tie, white shoes and socks, and hair has to be plaited. No loose hair and make up means you get sacked!! no school girl would even dream of make up to school!!! boys would wear blue shorts, white shirt, black shoes and socks till about 12 and then it would be white long trousers with a white shirt. I loved my school uniform and never hankered for anything else!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite teacher at high school was Mrs Cooper, she was warm, bubbly and nurturing. She was the first person to see a writer in me and encouraged my love for books, reading and writing stories. It is because of Mrs Cooper that I went on to get a degree in literature. She would probably be in her 60's now - I hope wherever she is she is enjoying life and all it offers.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite teacher at school was Mrs Lawson who taught me in 1st Grade. 40 years later I met Mrs Lawson at a church in Caringbah and she still remembered me. Next time she saw my mother she gave her some stories and pictures I had drawn all those years ago. An exceptional person and teacher.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite back to school outfit was the one my Mom made for me. A pant suit! Red/Blue plaid with pants and a cute jacket to match. I thought I was it! LOL. She made my two sisters all our holiday and back to school outfits all the time.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my high school chemistry teacher, Mrs. M. She was a sweet lady who had a genuine passion for science and she made me love science forever.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher ever: high school, philosophy. Yeah, that's right: philosophy. I believe I was his favorite student too. I like to think so :-)
ReplyDeleteContact:librosfera(at)gmail(dot)com
My favorite outfit was mr Jr year. I got the best pair of penny loafers. My dad made me put in dimes instead of pennies. He said if I ever need to call him, I could take the dime out of my shoes. I guess I am dating myself with the cost of a payphone call. How did we survive without cell phones? Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mr. MacDonald in college Accounting. He cared about his students and encouraged us daily. He wanted us to be successful.
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite teacher was one that scared most of the other students. Mrs. Parnell taught English. She was old, but energetic. She retired twice while I was in school. I recently re-read "Great Expectations" In Mrs. Parnell's class literature came alive.
ReplyDeleteK-8 was a terrific time for back to school outfits..we wore school uniforms and i just loved it. down to our white or blue socks, no option to show off your peronalility at all. it was so easy...i found this out more later...and having 2 older sisters, i knew exactly what i would be wearing next year to school! thanks for a chance ladies, im loving this line!
ReplyDeleteNancy Lavinski was the best teacher ever!!! She was my senior English/Government teacher so we had her twice a day and it was awesome. She made us feel like adults yet was able to maintain boundaries that we needed. She had married older after traveling and living a most interesting life and then decided not to have kids of her own so she made us her kids. Everyone needs a Nancy Lavinski somewhere in their journey through education!!
ReplyDeleteI will show my age here but ... 5th grade. The days of a zillion, heavily starched lace half slips was ending. The new thing was one light, starch free slip which had an inner tube in the hem. Skirts puffed - just right. I actually do not remember the outfit, only the new starch free slip. I do know my mother had lovingly handmade the matching outfit. It was way Cool! That is until punctured by the awful, mean, rude kid (I ended up dating this kid in high school - but that is years later!) sitting behind me. My dad had to patch the inner tub with a bicycle patch - the first of many patches. Thankfully by 6th grade we only wore these contraptions to Church or socials. Have a nice day.

ReplyDeleteWow, a very tough one. We're talking about the dark ages here when girls did NOT wear pants to school. (No wonder my knees were always scraped!) I had a red dress that had a little black fabric tie. It was my favorite! I have it memorialized in my first grade picture. It makes me laugh when I come across it because I also have on a "beautiful" ring that I picked out at the dentist's office. My mother wasn't happy.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my fifth grade teacher. It was my favorite year of school.
ReplyDeleteJo
I just wrote a long post about my daughter and then realized I got it wrong...
ReplyDeletewell, if we're talking about me, I'll have to mention a fave teacher since I never had school outfit (many schools in Israel don't..).
I had a great Hebrew litrature teacher called Rachel Yampuler (we call our teachers by their 1st names here), who was a great individual who understood that not all kids should be the same as one another...
Another age-revealer here: I went to high school during Gunne Sax days. Anyone remember Gunne Sax? Pastels, waist sashes and lace! I wasn't a lace kinda gal, so I bought a vintage prairie dress from an antique shop. I wore it to *death* my sophomore year, accessorizing with my Frye boots (the boy boots with the square toes, not the pointy ones you can't walk a half-mile in) and lots of sterling jewelry. I foolishly resold the dress a few years later - what a pretty gift it could have made for my girlchild, or it could have been reborn as part of a quilt!
ReplyDeleteOh, my favorite back to school outfit was a pair of bell bottoms in lime green with pink trim and a pink shirt. Man, am I dating myself! LOL
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my elementary school Spanish teacher. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI remember in high school, 9th grade, early 80's, wearing those ruffled shirts that were prairie-styled with black slacks and desperately trying to blow-dry straighten my curly hair. I am dating myself here, I loved those shirts, that had the ruffles in the princess seams.
ReplyDeleteMy high school band teacher has to be my favorite. He rolled with the punches (high school kids can be pretty awful!) but still managed to get us to pay attention long enough that our twice-yearly concerts weren't a complete train wreck. We won't talk about how straight the marching band lines weren't... Thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite and most memorable outfits are
ReplyDelete1: My official Mary Lou Retton warm up suit.
and 2: My yellow and black, totally cool, hip sweater and pants with groovy hipster belt. I have actual photo documentation, and since you reminded me of it I am posting in on my blog today. Fun!
My favorite teacher was my 3rd grade/GT teacher. Miss May. She was awesome! She forgave me when I chased the boy who stole my doll around the room with a sopping wet sponge, wetting all the desks, and ruining the worksheets she passed out.
I was one of those kids that liked school and usually liked all my teachers. My fifth grade teacher is memorable because she introduced me to the series of books of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The Little House books where as a little girl she made a nine patch quilt! That was the beginning of my love of quilts and reading! Miss Rachel Hassman was the teacher's name and she is long gone but I still have all the books! But I have never made a nine patch. That's my next goal so thanks for the prompting!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt about it - my favorite teacher was my father. He we my junior high English teacher for about 3 years. Don't get the wrong impression -- he did NOT play favorites. In fact, he would purposefully NOT call on me, even if I was the only one with my hand raised with the answer. I was blessed to have my father as an intimate part of my school life up through 8th grade (sometimes as my teacher, but mostly him just teaching at the same school), and then we moved to a different [local] school district and he became just my dad.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite school outfit? Don't laugh - it was my chapel uniform when I was in 3rd and 4th grade. My daughter is in PreK in a private school this year, and her favorite outfit is also her chapel uniform. Crazy, huh?
Favorite teacher ended up being my Home Ec teacher in HS. I was far advanced from many of the students who had never used a sewing machine so I pretty much got to make many things that they would never learn to tackle such as french seams. The teacher liked me so much I ended up being her child's babysitter and with that came much more sewing instruction at her home. I loved it. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at that fabric last night. I love it :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my 7th grade Algebra teacher. She always believed I could learn and took time to talk to me. I fell in love with Algebra and have always enjoyed doing Math because she cared. What a gift. Her name is Mrs. Ballard and I remember telling her that I wanted her to be the grandmother to my children.
Smiles,
Kelly
My favorite teacher was my 2nd grade teacher. She was kind and nurturing. Not only did my siblings and I all have her as our teacher, she also taught both of my daughters in 2nd grade. My kids are now in college and grad school. Mrs. R has impacted so many young lives and I still love her!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was a health/PE teacher. She was so amazingly honest with students, supportive, and willing to go an extra 10 miles for people.
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have made it through a serious personal crisis in my last year of high school alive.
I now need to go find her and let her know that.
OHhh I have always loved school...and these fabric choices would be perfect for a wee project...sew...A fav school outift...we wore uniforms, but I liked them, we were a sea of white Peter Pan collars, blue jumpers and and penny loafers with a shiny new penny. Now that was my favorite. Those penny loafers, still one of my fav to this day... blessings madame samm
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Hays. She was my 1st-2nd-3rd grade teacher, and wasn't much bigger than we were in 3rd grade. Years later she came to my weding. Because we were a small country school, everyone knew everyone else. She had a cool sleepover for all the girls in the school, all 12 of us!
ReplyDeletemy favorite back to school outfit was a pair of overalls and a bright orange skin tight long sleeved top. the kind that did up at the crotch like a onesie--I can't believe that style was ever in!
ReplyDeleteanyway the first day of school was so hot that year my mom said I couldn't wear it. but I so desperately wanted to!
so I did anyway and sweat all day long!
Favorite outfit was definitely my navy dress with little pink rose buds. I remember begging my mother to let me wear it even after I had outgrown it! I had my kindergarten picture taken in that dress. Even though the picture is from the black and white era (dating myself here!), I can still see the wonderful colors in my favorite outfit! It was also my kindergarten teacher who I remember most fondly. Here's to you, Mrs. Robinson!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Amons, my first grade teacher. She was the best ever, and made learning so much fun. She had a "cozy corner", where you could go practice reading, that had those fuzzy pillows and a big plush rug to sit on... I want to go back there... :o)
ReplyDeleteI wore a uniform. No special back to school outfit for me.
ReplyDeleteFavorite teacher? Miss Entz, third grade. She did such a wonderful job of drawing us in and making learning fun!
ReplyDeleteI think I would rather leave a comment about the scarring memories of what my mother used to send me to school dressed in back in the eighties... She was a big fan of the one piece jumpers with little school bus-shaped buttons and matching scrunchies on my "rockin" side ponytail... So not cool. I also distinctly remember her thinking that bright yellow/orange sweat pants (with elastic ankles) went perfectly with a solid purple sweat shirt... Glad those days are over!
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable teacher was in 3rd grade. That's when things start really getting tough! I remember learning a lot from her.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my ninth grade algebra teacher, Mr. Engel. He was probably in his middle thirties at the time and had blond curly hair and was a hunk! And on top of that he knew his algebra and could teach it to me!!! What a great combo - never bored in his class!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIn the 4th grade, I had "mr dryer" super nice guy, best of all, believed in me! He made learning fun and we got "dryer dollars" to buy stuff if we got the awnsers right. I remember I won a 100 dollar challenge he gave the class! I won the last american jane collection you gave away so this line would match perfectly!

My favorite back to school outfit is the one my granddaughter showed me last week. She is 7 and had her "1st day! outfit hanging on her bedroom door. Black & white skirt with skulls, gray blousy tunic, black vest (Hannah Montana), black and white striped socks, pink Doc Marten type shoes, and a skull necklace. She rocks!
ReplyDeleteIn the third grade I had Mrs. Allred. I loved her. She played whales singing to each other at reading time. Her classroom was no attached to the building. It was the first time I went to school in a trailer. It was a fun class. She is/was my favorite teacher.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite teacher was Mrs Steel from Grade 4. Loved her!!
ReplyDeleteThis just reaffirms why I like American Jane so much. I have a few fav teachers. My first being my kindergarten teacher mrs. Griffin. She had a baby that year and named her Emily (I thought it was after me) at a time when I didn't know any other Emily's. Instantly she became my fav. Then in third grade, my teacher Mrs Moran. Not sure why I loved her other than 3rd grade was a good year for me.
ReplyDeleteIn 5th grade I had Mr. Clark. I instantly had a crush. He was cute and every time he came by my desk to help me, I thought how great he smelled. Can't remember how he taught or what I learned that year, but he sure was my favorite teacher!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my 3rd grade teacher Ms. Everett. She was so awesome and she had short hair and a rat tail lol. I begged till my Mom let me cut my hair like hers. My hair was waist length so it was a huge change. But we adopted a whale and she loved all whales and had them everywhere. I ended up in the hospital for a long time that year and she brought gifts to me and just visited and made me feel special but them she brought my schoolwork too haha.
ReplyDeleteWhat super yummy fabric!! I wore a uniform all the way to college and loved it!!! Roll out of bed eat, brush and leave!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my third grade teacher, Mrs. Mulchany. She made school fun, was always available to talk to and even wrote to me over the summer. We were pen pals for quite awhile.
ReplyDeleteI had a great 6th grade teacher, Mr. Salem. He was full of personality and very energetic... I have fond memories of his science class (periodic table bingo!) and spelling word Jeopardy with buttons to push when you knew the answer! He really put a lot of effort into making school fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great giveaway!!! And for the great memory... hope MY girls get someone as fun as Mr. Salem....
I will go with Mrs. Hofslien...had her for third grade and I remember thinking I wanted to be her when I grew up!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite school outfit was a pink dress with my initials sewn on the collar made for me by my grandmom. I have the dress still and the picture of me wearing it while stepping onto the bus for that first day of school picture. Just looking at the dress and picture gives me a warm loved feeling.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about how great it would be for school supplies too.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite school clothing memory was that my mom would make my sister and myself matching dresses. She would sew after we went to bed and they would be hanging on our door when we got up in the morning.
I loved Mrs. Case my fifth grade teacher she made school fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute theme for this fabric. I love this line. Really hits me where I live/love. Every year for back-to-school in grade school my mom would make new dresses for me. Since, in the old days we had to wear dresses (at least until the rule changed in 8th grade). We would go to the fabric store and pick out patterns. I always saw patterns I wanted to change or combine. Even as a kid I wanted to tweek designs. My mom was very traditional and wanted to sew things with exactness so this didn't go over well with her. We first shopped her stash for fabric but I also got to pick out some from the store. It was a good time together with my mom and the foundation of who I am in the sewing room.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I had a favorite back to school outfit - my elementary school didn't have a/c, which was a bad thing in Nebraska's August weather...but that meant we usually got out @ 1 due to "heat." My fav teacher was Mr. Valentine, who taught 7th-12th grade math classes for me - very fun teacher!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what my favorite back to school outfit was, but I did have a funny tradition. The night before the first day of school, I would lay out the clothes I was going to wear on my bedroom floor all as if there was a person laying there. I think my parents thought I was a bit strange! So glad I didn't have to go back to school this week! Thanks for the giveaway.

Oh, definitely my favorite back to school outfit was this jumper my Mom and I designed. This was in the late sixties, and it was very cool. We bought some fake leather and made a jumper out of it and to hold it up we bought some chains and hooked them to it and ran them up over my shoulders. Of course I had to wear a T-shirt under it! I thought I was the grooviest thing ever in that jumper. In reality I probably looked like I was a walking naugahyde sofa!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I had a favorite back to school outfit but I did have a pair of teal and pink plaid pants that zipped and buttoned in the back. It looked like they were on backwards. They had zippers on the sides of the legs and they screamed "welcome to the 80's"!!! Loved those jeans!!
ReplyDeleteglendaoz72 at yahoo dot com
I had so many favorite teachers. Although the first day of school with all new clothes was always awesome. Down to brand new undies and shiny new shoes. Can't you just smell them? (The shoes, not the underwear.)
ReplyDeleteI sent my kids to school for the first day today. The house is so quiet. I love it, but it feels lonely. Sniff.
My favorite back to school outfit was my bellbottom jeans, and my flowered blouse that had ruffles at the waist, and balloon sleeves.
ReplyDeleteMrs. Jenkins first grade green straight dress with pleated skirt! We rocked at Ashton Elementary! wow over 40 yrs. ago!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Ellis. She was my G/T English teacher in 5th and 6th grade. She made things fun and interesting. She loved us.
ReplyDeletePicking three red dresses to start fifth grade assured that I got to get the red patent-leather Mary Janes that were always said to be impractical, as they didn't 'go with' everything. Well, now they did, as that was the color of ALL my new clothes !
ReplyDeleteI had a red fuzzy pindot (what is that fabric called?) puff sleeve dress I made in 6th grade. And of course I had my school picture taken in it - I, too, love RED!
ReplyDeleteMy girls have had their first day back-to-school outfits picked for three weeks already! We are a little excited for school starting next week around here . . .
ReplyDeleteOh I loved going back to school~ my mom sewed all my clothes and as I got older I got to help. Going fabric shopping was so much fun! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Hensley - my high school sewing teacher.
ReplyDeleteOk, I am totally in love with Punctuation! So cute!! One of my favorite teachers was Mrs. Moore my first grade teacher. She taught us how to speed walk. She rocked!
ReplyDeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteMy going back to school was an event! I'd wear a brand new dress, usually pink,Mom had made special for this day! Then at school, we girls would admire and show-off to each other! This takes me back to some really good memories!
Thanks for sharing,love,Linda
jldouglas@wispwest.net
I've gone back to school today - my new class have a lot of hard work in store for them, but then again so do I.
ReplyDeleteSo love this fabric! Made just for me and my love of punctuation!!! ;o)
My first favorite teacher was also Mrs. Ellis in fifth grade! I'm sure she must have been a different Mrs. Ellis than Celeste's since we didn't have different teachers for different subjects. She gave wonderful big hugs. :)
ReplyDeleteWhile I have had "regular" teachers, I would have to say (being homeschooled from 3rd grade through high school)that my Mom was my favorite teacher. I appreciate her even more as I have some teaching experience myself now. She was always so creative and proactive. For example, I remember watching films from the Smithsonian on Egypt as part of their classroom exhibit, she signed us up as a classroom and borrowed the film projector from church and we watched all of those films on a sheet hung on the living room wall ;)
ReplyDeleteWell that is easy - many moons ago, when i was in 5th grade , i suddenly had like 3 teachers "all in a ""POD""" area as we called them -this was the first time i had to go from class to class , and i thought it was pretty cool - and i loved all of them, ms sakir (homeroom), ms grimble, and ms eggan. every day befreo i left, i would go to each classroom and give each teacher a big hug befroe saying goodbye for the day. Yes i loved school, and without knowingit, maybe i was the teachers pet. then toward the middle-end of the year, things changed, my Rheumatoid arthritis got really bad, and i had to use a wheelchair- in the beginning, half playing with it during recess with my best friend, and soon there after so dependant on it , i would stay in the classrooms during recess, beacuse i couldnt push myselfin the wheelchair, and all of a sudden friends started disappearing a bit... but not my teachers, they would stay in the classroom and talk with me and we would have a great time, and when i could no longer go to school that year, my wonderful 3 teachers would take turns and each week bring my schoolwork to my home and explain it to me and hang out a bit - it sounds naybe like it wassad - but 5th grade was my favorite year, and those 3 were my fav teachers, and i will never forget them - i actually wanted to become an elementary teacher becasue of tehm -and i started the process, but the arthritis again got in the way. but they , ms. Sakir, Ms Grimble, and ms Eggan will always be my favorite and "best ever" teachers - yeah ladies!!!! tami in tucson
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite teachers (I had many) became a good friend as well. I even went on a 2 week trip with her to visit her family back in Ohio. She taught me a lot about English but most importantly how to teach. =)
ReplyDeleteI remember setting out my school outfit the night before every year. It was always brand new and gave me hope for a bright new school year.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite outfit was a teal green t-shirt dress my mom and I splatter painted with white and pink paints. It was super fun! (and it was for kindergarten, so it was cool)
ReplyDeleteI had a favorite biology teacher named Mr. Turpin. Wonder what happened to him. Maybe I will be lucky to win on my birthday/ linda gerig
ReplyDeletemy favorite teacher was Mrs. Mancini - her hair was teased to the ceiling and she would paint beautiful seasonal artwork on the classroom windows!!
ReplyDelete:)S
I did enjoy my Sophomore English teacher. She was strict, but she truly cared about us, and she LOVED literature (as did I). Mrs. Taylor. Wonder where she is now.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Dumas, taught/still teaches 3rd grade, I would move back to the same neighborhood just for 1 year so my daughter could have her, she is the best
ReplyDeleteMy favorite school outfit wasn't an outfit, but my school coat. It was purple plaid with a double row of big purple buttons.
ReplyDeletemy favorite teacher was mrs fisher. she was my fourth grade teacher. we keep in touch through face book.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Dr. Rice, my textiles teacher in college. She was a great perfectionist and did not have a lot of patience with people who didn't catch on quickly, but she knew her textiles and made it all very interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhen I think back to my school days there are quite a few teachers that left their mark on me but if I would have to pick just one it would be. Mrs. Giles she was my kindergarten teacher. She made school exciting and fun. You could tell she loved to teach.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my second grade teacher. he was lively and creative. We went on adventures to other countries where we dressed up and ate and played games that were from that country.
ReplyDeletesntbosch@msn.com
Favorite teacher, maybe not, but I never forgot her. Her name - Mrs. Early - 8th grade english. I remember her because...she was always LATE, lol.
ReplyDeleteI once wore a dress with owl buttons on it. I think it was dark blue fabric. I was in first grade and I LOVED that dress. Like couldn't wait until the first day of school to wear it. Oh the memories! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Davis. Oh, she was just so good! I loved her Science lessons. She did have a way with Evolution. I've loved Charles Darwin ever since!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite teacher was Ms. Ohta, a Math teacher -- even though I grew up to be an English teacher and I can't, for the life of me, do anything with numbers! She was about four foot nothing and could never reach the top of the board and tough as nails, but she was a beautiful person and she made me think I could actually do math. I realize, now, that I can't, but it was sure nice of her to make me think otherwise back then!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Mills. She was also the principal of our 2 room school. Mrs. Mills was my teacher for grades 3-6. She was barely 4 feet tall, trim, full of energy, and a really good teacher. She taught me the invaluable skill of "how to learn." Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeletei dont realy think i had a favorite teacher...
ReplyDeletethey were all just teachers... i guess i never realy got to injoy a special connection to a teacher. i think most of my teachers were not so friendly.
but today my daughter was in school, first grade, and it seems and i hope that teachers are nicer these days to the kids... hopefully....
otherwize..... ;-)
thanks!!!
My favorite teacher was Mr. Hildemann, 8th grade. He believed in me and was such a fun teacher.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!

My favorite teacher was my 5th grade teacher...she allowed me to read during class. so much so that I once read through math, lunch and recess...(yes, they left me in the classroom and I never even noticed) it must have been a really good book!!
ReplyDeleteMy back to school outfit this year is the same thing I wear all the time, jeans and a t-shirt. I gave brief thought to dressing up, but then I decided I'd be nervous enough as it is, starting a new program in a new department, that I'd rather not have to worry about my outfit. So I went with casual and comfortable!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite teacher was Mr. Refling in Grade 8. He encouraged us to write short stories and he read mine to the class. He also had the cutest Australian accent.
ReplyDeleteI would love to wear jeans to school everyday, but it is only allowed on Fridays. So my favourite back to school outfit is jeans and a pretty top.
Favorite teacher: Mr. Gore, 9th grade Geography. He made it fun, and I've loved travel ever since!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was in high school she was my english teacher. In her class she made us match cool english tv shows. She made me more and more interested in learing english and I could practice my speaking with her. Thank you Suzane.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Smith. She let me stay in from recess and do a bulletin board all by myself! I remember crafting detailed bears out of construction paper. As I was putting up a bulletin board of my own last week, I remembered that first one way back when... :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mr. Edward Hammond, my 8th grade teacher at a private catholic grade school. All of the girls had huge crushes on him and we sang "To Sir With Love" to him at the end of the 1968 school year.
ReplyDelete(If you haven't seen this 1967 movie with Sidney Poitier, it is a MUST SEE)
It would be such a hoot to win this fabric in honor of him.
Jane
My favorite teacher was a substitute History teacher. I got all A's the semester he was with us. Unfortunately the regular one came back and my grades went down. I am convinced he was a bad teacher.
ReplyDeletelsandes@comcast.net
My favorite back to school out fit was a pair of black and white diamond pattern stirup pants with a bigshirt (with sholder pads) that each panel, sleeve and any other piece on the shirt was a different bright (almost neon) color. I thought it was so cute. I look at it in pictures and laugh hard.
ReplyDeletemy fave teacher was my sports teacher in high school- purely based on looks!!! haha
ReplyDeleteI didn't really have a favorite outfit but I do remember the blue jeans and this fantastic poncho that was knitted. Very popular back then.:) And I also remember a loud, plaid pair of pants that screamed the 70's. LOL!! Good memories!!
ReplyDeletemy favourite teacher was my high school history teacher mr. moore. he was smart, well spoken, and funny, i never skipped a single history class, lol!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my choir teacher! He was awesome.
ReplyDeleteFavorite teacher was my 8th grade Engligh teacher. We both liked Gone with the Wind and I got a great grade on my project.
ReplyDeleteMy most memorable favorite outfit was a purple and black and white color block dress. I was in kindergarten and my neighbor/best friend Gail had the same dress. We were in half day kindergarten in the morning. We were very excited to wear the same dress to school. Her mother picked us up and brought us home for lunch. What makes the outfit so memorable is that during lunch Gail knocked her milk over and spilled it on my dress so I had to change. Gail started to cry because then we didn't have the same outfit on...a true Diva-in-the-making Drama!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway -- I LOVE that fabric! I had the most awesome 9th grade geometry teacher. He was a little ol' guy and he had "traditions." Every day that we had a test, we'd all get situated in our seats and he'd make a big production of slapping a big roll of those paper-y hand towels from the bathroom onto his desk. He called them his crying towels and he knew we'd all need one by the end of the test. He also wore a red tie on quiz and test days. I was lucky -- I had him for 6th period, so if I saw him in the morning, I had time to study for a pop-quiz. He made geometry SO fun. Sadly he died of cancer when I was in college.
ReplyDeleteMr. Elsass!! He taught Anatomy and had the tallest "flat-top" you've ever seen! I don't know why I loved that class so much...he was really funny...but in a very dry way.
ReplyDeleteYES!! I am a teacher and I'm back at school--and loving it! I can't wait in June for school to be out, then about the middle of July I get really antsy for school to start! Thanks for the opportunity to win this adorable fabric!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was Mrs. Gordon. A plate of brownies SAVED my grade and helped me graduate! :o)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my 6th grade teacher. She had been to over 20 countries and was teaching in Kuwait the year before. I enjoyed all her stories and she was a really interesting teacher.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite outfit was in 7th grade. A thick cotton gold/red/blue paisley tight pair of bell bottoms with lacing on the front with a matching bolero vest. You could see me coming 10 miles away but I thought I was so cool.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite teacher was a college teacher. I originally wanted to pursue Geography and History in University but he was so passionate about French Literature, I just loved going to his classes. He made me change my mind and I went to do my B.Arts in French Lit. after that!
ReplyDeleteBack to teaching for me too this September. I'm teaching in a French Immersion school in Kindergarten and today, I had a student bring me some fancy chocolate as a Back to School present! So cute! It made my day for sure!
My favorite back to school outfit was my first pair of flowered bell bottoms I wore in sixth grade. It was also exciting because for the first time we could wear pants! My favorite teacher was my fourth grade teacher who I still write to. I try to be the kind of fourth grade teacher that she was!
