  2. I am definitely going to try this! The corn bread seems a little out of my league (heat oil til the pan is smoking?? Is that dangereous? Yikes!) But the chowder sounds and looks delicious!

  3. I kind of glance over the "til smoking" part of the recipe -- I just heat the oil until I'm sure it's good and hot! Also, my cornbread get done about 5 minutes earlier than the recipe states. Maybe because of our high altitude (~5000 feet above sea level)?

  4. That chowder looks like a hearty meal! I would need to substitute the pork sausage though. Mmmmm, cornbread. :D

  5. It was all very very good. Cute recipe card, Des. Someone broke the blender, actually, I'm sure it was broken before we arrived. So they (Shelto, I think) had to mince/cut up the corn up by hand. But it was worth it. Thanks Betsy!

  7. I used turkey sausage for the retreat -- it was great! Shelto, you went above and beyond the call of duty hand-chopping that corn for me :)
