I'll Take Mine Raw

Here's Kathi's starting block for

our quilt group's "Pizza Box Exchange"

She challenged us to do raw edge applique = nothing is pieced, it's sewn right on top. Edges will fray.

Here is what she has so far.

I love the variety.

She picked such a nice colorway.

I wish I could say I did one of these blocks. Cute!

I know some are really great,

Tomorrow,

I may casually grab my box & bring it home --

I haven't really seen it for over a year!

I think we're going for 16 blocks ~ 3 more months.

eBay's making some changes; we're making some changes, so let's move it out! If you've bought something from us & thought I'd like some more -- chances are we might still have it. We have many 'end of the bolts' that aren't listed, plus all of the stuff I hoard in a special corner :). More will be listed every day. There are a few auctions, too.

My Silver Lining

All year, knowing that my oldest was graduating,

instead of choosing to sob,

I chose to think about her room.

"Honey,

so how soon are you leaving for college?

Do you need some help packing?

I'm here to help."

Luckily, Shadowman that shares a room with Harry --

didn't even think to ask for the room.

Good thing, cuz he's not getting it.

Hey, I've been sewing on the kitchen table for
20+ years.

This is a big deal!!

Look there's even storage in the chair!
I also got this Pixie Cutting Table.
There's a big cutting mat that goes on top of it.
Haven't set that up yet, not sure how to fit everything in the room.
I want to do a new valance and such...because her
Heather Bailey Freshcut doesn't jive w/ my Alexander Henry.
Don't I need to leave her bed?
Please advise.

So far the only thing I've sewn on is Boy Scout badges.

That's a great way to christen a new table, don't you think?!

Oh & even bigger news...the ironing board is out of the entryway.

Sometimes You Have to Stop

I'm up to my eyeballs in summer life but I saw these 

Sleep Over Pals in the Wee Wonderful Book. 

 

Sometimes you just have to stop 

and make something

SO adorable

just because.  

They were a pleasure to work with.  

Clear directions and awesome ideas. 

I will be a Grandma someday and 

I will need to have uber cute toys. 

So let the collection begin!!

1 + 1 = 2 Grads - 1

My oldest graduated from high school

on her 18th birthday

and my youngest from pre-school!!

~

Let's talk about her,

because the little guy isn't going

anywhere

anytime

soon.

Starting in 2nd grade,
we decided to educate Bella at home.

It hasn't been the easiest road,

but it's been an incredible experience

and lifestyle for our family.

For the past 6 years, she participated in an online public school.

So we've been together pretty much 24/7 for a very long time.

And I can truly say,

I've enjoyed almost every moment. :)

I thought I had all summer to say good-bye before college --

but she had an internship in the works &

it came through.

So on a Monday we found out it was going to happen,

and she left on Friday.

She's back east for the summer,

and DC is a long long way

from Idaho.

I'm so happy & excited for her.

Sad for us.

I've gained a new appreciation for mothers of grown children.

This is hard.

However, there is a little bit of a silver lining to it all... ;)
