Figgity Jig ~ Giveaway~ We have a Winner~

Update: Congratulations go to Liz B. #18.
May you find many hours of joy with these fabrics!
Thanks for dropping by everyone!

I'm still into rhyming.
Sorry.
It sounds like many of you are just SO not into thinking about Christmas yet. Well, that's tragic for you. It's coming whether you like it or not and I choose to LOVE it. I'm not ready to start listening to Bing Crosby yet, but thinking about my traditions and all the things I want to do and make and create (more rhyming) ......oh, I just feel I've got to get busy on it all any minute now!

These new fabrics, Figgy Pudding, from Basic Grey are perfect.
If you take a good look, and don't think about wishing anyone a Merry Christmas.....
why.......they're quite non-Christmas-y.

Brown, and bluesy.
Gorgeous Red.
Trees are for all seasons.
Rich, tonal damasks that need to be made into napkins for every occasion.
Okay, I'll give you the poinsettias, and maybe the presents, but that's it.
This line says, "Merry Christmas, Darling" but it also says....."Big Girls Don't Cry" because they have this fabric in their stash for everyday sewing.

We would never want YOU to cry because you don't have some of this in YOUR stash. So, we're giving away a lovely little non-holiday specific set of
4 Figgy Pudding fat quarters.
I know....we're only here to serve.

Leave a comment telling me what YOU think this line is saying....could be saying??....whispering??....shouting??......
implying??....suggesting??.....
requesting??....investing??......

Don't sprain your brain if it's just too much for a Thursday.

Random Drawing later tonight.
Best of luck to you!!

We have sets of 15, 11 and 4 Fat Quarters in the store.
Don't ask me where the 15 and 11 come from.
We just like those numbers. :)

  1. I won't go until I get some, I won't go until I get some, I won't go until I get some, so send some to me!!

haha!! I love this line, I saw it on presale a couple weeks ago and knew I needed it. It reminds me of a charlie brown Christmas, and the aluminum Christmas tree lot. all very 60's mod but with modern hues. Just totally adorable and I know exactly what I'm going to do with it as I sit in my sewing room on a hot July day while watching white Christmas and holiday inn :)

  2. I think this line is saying, even though it's too early for christmas it's never too early for a cool giveaway! It's very pretty, and I would love some :)

  3. The line says red and blue goes together and black just binds them together. The red background looks great together with the bundle, don't you think.

  4. There's a little whisper in the back of my ear that's

    'Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
    Oh, bring us a figgy pudding;
Oh, bring us a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer
    We won't go until we get some;
    We won't go until we get some;
We won't go until we get some, so bring some out here'

I just love this new range, but then I just love everything Christmas, we have Christmas in July here for our Australian winter. So the timing is perfect! ;o)

  5. I think the line says:: Merry Christmas to me as I open the wonderful package in my mailbox. Maybe that means you should pick me :P

I have not seen the line in real life yet, but I am dying to.

Off the subject are you still selling the Bird fabrics? I need some in yellow

  6. This line is SINGING to me, "it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go, take a look in the five and dime...". But it seems that the red and white damask is singing "I'll be at your home for Christmas, you can count on that, please have snow and mistletoe and presents on the tree...". :D I see aprons and table runners and that damask NEEDS to be used for a purse!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I think this line is requesting that it be sent to my home to be turned into some lovely Christmas decor!

    ReplyDelete
  8. This line simply says that Christmas is awesome and will make you happy. So I love it. My husband and I are already excited for Christmas. (we were talking about it "yay, the year is half over, we're getting closer to Christmas"...we're nutty)

  9. Love the colors in this line. I actually have that color blue as my counter top in my kitchen. The previous owner put it in upteen years ago. I've always wanted to change it, but I'm seeing more of it now. This line, especially the blue says hope to me, hope that I can maybe keep the counters until my kids are out of college. I'll embrace the blue counter and incorporate all these new colors into my kitchen. Thanks for the chance.

  10. The line is obviously saying that it isn't too early to start thinking about Christmas and it's right. When I start making Christmas presents in the summer my weeks before Christmas are so much more relaxed!
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  12. Okay this is my dream come true.
I am joining a quilting guild and was just telling one of the ladies if she has seen this line yet.
Those blues are getting me thinking about Elvis' Blue Christmas song, and Figgy pudding is getting me thinking about We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Bing is getting me hearing I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas.
Sew I guess this fabric is screamin' Christmas carols at me!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Send it to Coral - ha ha - I have a course coming up soon, Christmas in July - and why not?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ahh... to me they are saying,
"So spend me some lots of money,
So spend me some lots of money,
So spend me some lots of money,
    And do it right now!"
It's very pretty, and I am SOOO thinking Chrsitmas already!

    ReplyDelete
  15. To me the line says that I can make a Christmas quilt that I will love and that will hush up all the comments from my family about how I don't decorate my house for Christmas. I am not a fan of most "Christmas-y" stuff, but this like has been making me droooooool

    ReplyDelete
  16. This fabric line is saying "Make me into Christmas gift bags that can be used and reused all year long"!

    ReplyDelete
  17. This line is saying, "Celebrate Christmas in July on your birthday (July 7th) with ME and make a big, lovely, Christmas quilt!"

Darn Moda and their fabric loveliness! But, I do love this line! I've never made a Christmas quilt(well, I've actually never made ANY quilt-I just started my first one) but this would be a great second one!

    ReplyDelete
  18. This line is telling me that I wish I lived in a forest, and not in a town. I could live in a forest with beautiful triangular trees and lovely foliage all around. Poo on you, town, with your pavement and poofy little trees.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm glad I started reading other peoples' comments because I thought you meant the line "don't sprain your brain if it's too much for a Thursday." I had no idea what that could possibly mean in relation to the fabric! Obviously, my brain is already sprained. This line has made me excited about Christmas and cold weather, and we haven't gotten to the hot part of our summer yet!

  20. To me, this line says "take me home!!!". Basic Grey has had some of my very favorite Christmas scrapbook paper lines, so to see it in fabric is delightful!! Thanks for another great giveaway.

    Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think this line is saying "Pick me please!" I love everything Christmas, but I think it's too early to even hum Bing Crosby, let alone sing.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'm sorry, but when I look at this line of fabric, I think Christmas. To me it's saying "you can avoid all the stress around Christmas time if you start with your Holiday sewing NOW!"

  36. I L-O-V-E this fabric! I have been searching my local quilt stores hoping that one of them will have it, but no luck so far. So if I win this Figgy giveaway you can bet I'll do a little jig. I'll even post a video if you pick my name.
This fabric is suggesting that I curl up under a warm blanket by the Christmas tree as snow falls outside my window. In the back ground A Song For A Winter's night by Gordon Lightfoot will be playing.
    Thanks for the perfect giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think the fabric is telling me to finally finish all those Christmas projects that I started last year and didn't get finished! I just can't get over how it's Christmas fabric, but doesn't scream Christmas. LOVE IT!!! :)

  38. This line is telling me that I may be making my first ever Christmas quilt this year! I Love this stuff!

  40. I can't see a Basic Grey line without thinking "scrapbooking is so out - sewing is the new hotness!". So yeah, that's what I'm hearing. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think it's saying that winning this may be the only thing you get for Christmas this year. No, I have not been a bad girl. I'm ALWAYS a good girl. A Wedding, high school graduation, and college tuition all in three months time is killing me! whine, whine, whine. I hope Santa isn't listening.

    ReplyDelete
  42. What time do you get up in the morning? On Thursday morning, your blog ALWAYS already has your giveaway going. . .

This fabric says that I am much more prepared for Christmas than Halloween. I love Christmas, but I need some time before I can get to Halloween costumes.

    ReplyDelete
  43. This says relax and enjoy Christmas with the calm color scheme! I love the combinations!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh, I can hear that fabric singing "Happy Holidays to me".... WOuld love to start a Christmas in July project with those FQ's.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ohh, I think it is saying -
Let it SEW, Let it SEW, Let it SEW!

I am already putting together the list of things for Christmas, have to start early to get them all done.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'll admit, I wasn't too into this line when I first saw it floating around blogville. It has since grown on me and I'm more into it now because it isn't so 'Christmasy'!! I like non tradition sometimes. Our tree skirt is done in Alexander Henry's Holiday Rider and pony print. Not to mention the John Wayne tree topper. Serious business around here.

    ReplyDelete
  49. It's saying, you really need to sharpen your sewing skills and learn to make a quilt that you & the family can snuggle under when Christmas, your favorite time of year, rolls around - or you need to find someone who will make it for you.

    It's very wordy.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Oh, I love the idea of napkins!

    ReplyDelete
  51. It is very simple, plain, elegant, pristine, and modern line, I would cal it.... Drum roll please.... "JANE” Simple yet gets the point across, don’t ya think?

    ReplyDelete
  52. That fabric is SCREAMING from the rooftops--- "I MUST GO TO ANGIE! I MUST GO TO ANGIE!!" :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm pretty sure it is saying "BUY ME!". It is kind of a modern fabric with a hint of vintage. Lovely really. The colors are beautiful. It is saying "Christmas is a coming and the goose will get fat. If you don't start your sewing soon your going feel like a rat"

I know. That is really bad. My daughter tells me all the time I"d make a very bad rapper. Thank heavens for that. I don't really aspire to be a 52 year old rapper.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think it is saying "Have yourself an old fashioned Christmas" The designs remind of the late 50's, early 60's. Love the feeling of that era.

    ReplyDelete
  55. this line looks to me like a "modern christmas"

and it looks great any way!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. It's singing "Bring us some Figgy Pudding and bring it right here" I love the line! To me it's also saying "Buy Me!" but I haven't figured out what I am going to do with it yet!

    ReplyDelete
  63. When I first saw this line, I fell in love with it! I think think line needs to come home to me to help add to my very small and poor collection of Christmas stuff! Inspired? oh yeah!!

  64. This fabric is making the softest sound of first snow on pines. What's that, in the distance? Sleigh bells! And faint voices singing a slow carol, Silent Night? I can't tell, have to wait until the sleigh gets closer. This fabric bundles up into the blankets (the red and green fabrics) and spreads warmth and joy throughout the chilly night (the icey blue fabrics). I love the mix of colors!

    ReplyDelete
  65. hmm...i says to me...get your act together woman, Christmas comes every year, and you're never ready...maybe this year..with your help of course

    ReplyDelete
  66. Christmas looks MODvalous this year...

I need it. I want it. I love Basic Grey. Fabric or paper.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Its saying "if you start sewing in July, you MIGHT get those Christmas gifts completed" !!!!!
    Hugs, Annie

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm not going to sprain my brain (which feels slightly sprained already just from life). All Figgy Pudding says to me is that it wants to come live at my house. Don't know what it's saying to the rest of you all. =)

  69. I think this fabric is say, "use me to trim out a set of Christmas towels and put them under the tree for someone who's been nice all year long!" Hope to win!

    ReplyDelete
  70. This line is whispering: "Remember your childhood Christmases." Remember the Christmas tree exhibit at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts with trees decorated in different time periods. This was the modern 50's-60's. Love the blue! Sarah in Houston

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm pretty sure I heard it saying "pick me, pick me". You see it really wants to be made into a little quilt and hang out on my couch. Really it does.

    ReplyDelete
  72. This line says that Christmas is coming sooner or later, so I better get started with some sewing projects that I never got to last year so I'm not in the same boat of using Target bought stockings this year because I just didn't have time to make the ones I've been planning on for 3 years now. Oh, and it also says that Christmas doesn't have to be just red and green. I LOVE the color combos in this line.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think it's trying to convince us that Christmas does not equal tacky sewing... and I think it's doing a good job at that, because I usually find xmastsy fabrics not-so-cool, but these ones I wouldn't close my door to!!

    Contact:librosfera at gmail dot com

    ReplyDelete
  74. This line is saying I go, but I'm not too matchy.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I'm thinking winter. . . all bright and clear and snow. Such gorgeous fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  79. It is saying.... you want to buy me so that you can make pretty Christmassy things out of me... like Aprons (I'm figuring out a way to make cute ones from FQs) or Towels, or table runners. Oh the joys!

I hope I win, I was drooling over them yesterday, thinking about how mean it was to show off the fabric and not give it away! hehe

    megan.nadalet at gmail dot com

ps. you should ask people to submit pictures of what they made with their winning fabric and do a post about that! Or just of joyous faces as they open the boxes. It would be fun to see the faces of the winners!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I think it's a wonderful and refreshing twist on Christmas colors! I love it and can't wait to see all the projects that come out of this fabric by all the avid and trendy quilters out there!
    Jenn

    ReplyDelete
  81. With the exception of the Christmas trees, it reminds me of New Year's or January. I think it's the snowflakes. I like the idea of napkins or placemats expecially for January. It can be so dreary, that would be a perfect way to spice it up!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I suggest, pies....pudding...and fun. Love the fabrics and I am going to jot over to your store and check them out...now!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. Interpretation: A Little Bit Country and a Little Bit Rock-n-Roll . . . . . ooopps wrong song!

These designs are the perfect middle of the road composition of traditional, retro and whimsical. I LOVE the gorgeous richness of the colors! I am always looking for holiday prints that aren't typical Santa Claus Red, Christmas Tree Green and Tinsel Silver!

I would LOVE to get my hands on these to use for my Christmas Craft Fair creations! Pick Me PLEASE :)
